this game needs a lot of work in the qol department. the micro gets so heavy it starts to become downright unplayable from act 2 onwards. it's got a lot of potential but this isn't an early access title. wanna upgrade your farms to heavy plows? have fun clicking every single farm either directly or via its city. got a resource that you hadn't earlier? have fun trying to find all crafters that could use it in your ten cities. this is a qol nightmare and needs to be addressed if this game is supposed to see more than cursory play.
@Pravus You’re doing an excellent job explaining the game and highlighting the key points to consider. This game has me badly hooked with the one more turn syndrome. Please create a full series.
@@molybdaen11 that is something but still pretty little if you consider how famous and influential she was. also it is pretty rare to have famous females in history and i am somewhat tired of marie curie or joan d'arc as the only examples for that
I would like to see a complete series of this game honestly. That way I can get an even better feel if it's worth picking up even though it has "mixed" reviews currently.
It’s way better than civ6. The crafting and region/zone mechanics are addicting. I don’t think I can go back to simple resource exploitation by click of a button like civ
@@Hike86 Is just 'different', but that's not bad. Many of the negative comments are just people who don't like economic micro or complexity. I like it. It could use an UI improvement, although you learn it fast. They difficulty could be a bit harder too, IMO. But let's be real, Civ6 also had plenty of difficulty-mods.
I've got about 24 hours of game play in. The foundation seems solid but I'm finding some of the design decisions in this game a little hard to understand. For instance, why can I only build one inn per nation? I think grocery stores are limited to one per nation as well. Other improvements are limited to six per nation. Well I have nine cities in my current game so I can't even build one per city. The whole food thing is a little weird as well. If you don't grow enough food locally your city stops growing. You can have plenty on a national level but if you're minus one locally growth freezes. The food requirements also jump suddenly when a city gains a population point which seems a bit weird. They made some interesting choices with military units as well. You can't upgrade units, reorganize formations or put units back into reserve. The game could use some UI and QOL improvements as well.
The national storage prevents a city from starving when it have to less production. But you can use your food production city's with wheat or rice to produce bread for example and provide this to the other city's.
From what I've seen it all seems very minor and fixable if the devs keep at it. Not like some major design decisions of other games, like Civ 6's cartoon graphics or Humankind's & Civ 7's civ swapping mechanic.
I would like to be able to set a production building on automatic so that it produces by demand for other buildings or units. Kind of like the exotic refinery from sins of a solar empire 2. Also a overview about the buildings currently needing upgrades (like farms without plows) would help a lot.
I actually really dig this game but I wish that regions didn't have a single production queue. Feels like such a bummer of a kneecap when you have resources.
Qol killed it for me. I did like much of it, but they just need the production statistic screen Anno 1800 has. I need to know my production and consumption rates at a glance. I also need a city overview for my qol meters in all cities. It needs more than that but those would already be huge.
You can see your production and consumption rates at a glance. lol Why are people ignoring the most important menus in the game? They're not even really hidden away either.
I am having a lot of fun with Ara, I find Civ to simple and enjoy the deeper economic model of this game. Yea has a bunch of things to work out, but it is already better then Civ VI was on release for me. I have not had this much fun since playing Civ IV, which was the last great civ title in my opinion, Civ V was not bad, Civ VI I should have skipped.
Elimination based on score can turn that off? can we pick other ways to win game? that scoring system elimination is bit of turn off to me and biggest diff between anno and civ is fact that Anno is real time which makes all micro stuff bit quicker and not as noticeable, I am not sure how brining in micro handling of real time game into a turn based game is great idea, I know Stellars kind of did it but they took turn based out and made space 4x into real time where this game seems to taken real time anno thing into a turn based realm. also wondering if industry and clear cutting or lunching nukes effect game world and climate?
I'm enjoying ARA. Can't understand that neutral rating in Steam. It is not CIV. The gameplay is different and you like it if you look it as a different game and stop thinking it as a CIV clone. As soon as they solve some minor issues the game will be even better.
Yeah they have a lot of people who are no leaders. But it's refreshing to not have ramses in every game. This way we have more option to possible Boni.

It's literally the opposite to what you just said. Civ VI is way less 'substantial' than this is. In fact that's why some are put off by it.
