Also - Sorry for the mistake with the shortcut right at the start! I meant to place in the other knob for dimming the lights! Hopefully people can still see what they need to use.
Merci pour ces tutos très bien construits, progressifs et agréables à suivre dans la présentation. Une aide précieuse pour qui veut tirer du Déluge une grosse partie de son potentiel créatif et ludique.
No problem at all! Glad you found it useful! :)
Neat trick to get ping pong on individual synth notes
Cheers! Really glad we're still able to do this :)
one of the rare occurrences of true excellence in presentation...............................clear, concise, detailed, pleasant & friendly......brilliant
Thanks so much Will! Been wanting to do this for a long time and I'm glad people are finally able to see it :)
Invaluable - (we actually, there is a value that could be put on it - although I don't think it would be likely: Synthstrom could pay you for doing educational 'video manual' type presentations for their product......)
@@willswitchcraft haha, as nice as that would be, I don't think that's what's going to happen here. But hey, if they ever make a Deluge 2, I'd probably do it in exchange for one ;P
Who knows what could happen........
Hey, that tip to get a synth note sequencing in pingpong mode is just what I was looking for. Love your work!
Thanks so much! Glad I could help :)
These videos are fantastic. A real gift for deluge owners. Thank you!!!
Thanks! Always glad to hear this series helped so many people. 😊
Wow, the direction workaround? A bug that became a feature! thx for pointing that out
No problem! I really hope it's not a bug, because I really don't want them to patch it out! Haha, hopefully it sticks around during the next firmware update.
This is beyond high quality. Youre a very good educator. Good flow. High yield. Demonstrations.
Thanks so much!
Direction bug: legendary. Thanks!
No worries! I'm really glad people are enjoying this bit. Hopefully it's never patched out.
Brilliant! Thank you!
No problem! Thanks!
I keep coming back to these videos because they're so helpful. Sitting on a train with my Deluge and didn't bring the manual with me this time. Thanks again!
No worries! It makes me so happy to hear how people keep coming back to this series. I'm ashamed to admit I've even had to refer to it myself once or twice haha. Thanks for watching!
Thanks so much for making this series!
No problem! Thank you for watching it :)
Loving this series of videos, thanks so much for making them. It's what I've been needing to break in to using my Deluge more often.
No problem at all! I'm so glad to hear that. I have a tonne more videos on the way :)
This is SO unbelievably helpful!! Thank you for making this series. My Deluge is arriving next week. I will embark on a new journey to add some depth to my mostly non-synth recording studio….
Nice dude! Welcome to the party :) Hopefully this series will help you get up and running easily.
Thanks for sharing these very informative vids, much appreciated!
No problem at all! Glad you are enjoying them :)
Awesome series! Was great to review the workflow and I picked up few things I didn't know about! Keep it up!
Thanks so much! Really glad there was something new in there for you to pick up. I'm thinking of dropping the third video sometime later today or early tomorrow, so stay tuned :)
@@RSKT_music awesome!
best tutorial, pal!
Thanks! :)
Great looking forward to more of these 👍
There's definately a lot more on the way! :D
Thanks for very good tutorials! I am a new Deluge owner and your tutorials are some of the best once I have seen so far! Considering signing up to your Patreon too. Keep up the good work!
Thanks so much for the positive feedback! Loads of videos are on their way to add to this series :) And thankyou if you do sign up to the Patreon. Any support is greatly appreciated!
This is excellent. Thank you. Easy to follow along with you. Camera angle and focus are great, narration is spot on.
Thanks so much! Unfortunately, the next video is sliiiiighly out of focus, but it's still easy enough to see what's going on. Glad you're enjoying it all so far :)
Very good work , follow you !
Thanks so much! :)
Great videos. Much appreciated
Thanks heaps! Glad you enjoyed it :)
thanks for these beautiful videos
Thanks for tuning in! No problem :)
Perfect timing for me. Thank you!
No worries!
Thanks for the tutorial. Nice structure and quality overall! Looking forward to your next deluge-videos.
Thanks so much! New one should drop soon ;)
Great video 👌 thanks
No problem! Glad you enjoyed it :)
Once again avery clear and good video….your channel deserves a lot of more viewers
Peace out from Germany with love ❤
Thanks so much! I appreciate the kind words :)
Superb video, very well explained and intuitive.👍😊
Thanks heaps! :)
Excellent tutorial, thank you.
No problem at all :)
Great tutorials! Mine is in the mail, these are helping me prep so hopefully by the time I get it I have a decent sense of how to use it!
Nice dude! You're going to love it, especially with the new screen ;)
@@RSKT_music Bought a used one so I'm gonna have to wait til February to upgrade, but excited for that!
Well, at least you'll get to experience both screens then! :)
🤘❤️🤘
For note length extension into subsequent measures (10:34), you don't have to press the notes you want to extend before switching to the new measure. Just go to the measure, hold the button and press the notes you want to extend.
Also your swing example doesn't show much since all but one of the notes are right on an 1/8th note beat. Leaving the 16th hats in probably would show the swing better.
nitpicking comments aside, this is great, can't wait to watch more!
Thanks for leaving this in the comments! I did not know that about extending measures, but now that you've said it, it makes perfect sense!
@@idrumgood Yeah, my bad on the swing example. I should have showed it another way. Fortunately I go over swing again in the Effects video. Thanks for tuning in all the same! Glad you are enjoying the series so far :)
Oh that makes me feel better, I thought my ears were failing me as I didn’t hear a difference haha
Next video on workload should include everything: working with other gear, audio tracks, midi, cv, song view, arranger view, using audio clips, setting up templates, looper mode, sections, recording external audio, resampling and sampling midi, arranging patterns, live performance workflow tools
Haha, that's a tall order! Don't worry, the next 4 videos are ready to go and i'm hoping to have a 5th completed today. A lot of the topics you mentioned will have their own dedicated video, and some others will be explored once the "manual" side of things is over and we get into the "workflow" videos. :)
@@RSKT_music You did great on this video!
Thanks so much! Really glad you're enjoying the series so far :)
Just discovered your channel - subscribed, and really enjoying your work. Great to hear some vocals on the Delly in some of your videos! A quick question - if you reduce the length of a clip to 3/4 (12 steps) in the middle of a 4/4 arrangement, will it playback correctly? I have a Roland verselab which converts everything back to 4/4, forcing my 3/4 bar to repeat beat one, which ruins the song and drives me nuts. The Deluge is much more capable, but I want to make sure it can do this before I consider buying one (for the second time - I had one a few years ago, and really didn't commit properly to learning it).
Thanks for the kind words! So you can set the sequence length to whatever you want (12 steps for example) and it will play back just those 12 steps and then loop. If you do this before hitting play, no issues. However, if you do this WHILE playing, you have to choose the right moment to do it. So while the sequence is starting to play, if you reduce the sequence length you won't hear any changes until it gets to the end, and will loop back seamlessly. If you do this AS the playhead hits where you're reducing the sequence, you'll hear a quick hiccup. Same as for extending it. Fortunately, you can quickly change the length and fix it, but I thought it worth pointing out. Hope that helps answer your question :)
@@RSKT_music ah, that’s great, thanks. I don’t want to change it while it’s playing, I want to insert an odd length measure in the middle of an arrangement before hitting play, so that’s perfect.
@@pianoyan ah right! Well that's definitely possible then :)
Triplet view is crazy .... genius, but also wtf, hahah.
So glad it exists!
Question for everyone here. How do y'all handle basic song structure (intro, chorus, verse, bridge etc.) on the Deluge? I find it super awkward and hard to keep track of which "page" belongs to which section if I'm using the same instrument.
Hey there! So this is something I'll be covering in great detail in the Deluge Workflow Guide, which is still slowly being produced. There's lots of different ways you can go about it, each with their pros and cons. Something you could experiment in the meantime is setting up your sections in the arranger view, and leaving a space or two between them so they're easily identifiable (intro, verse, chorus, bridge, outro). Then use the arranger to queue up those parts of the song, then jump back into song view and bring in whatever other instruments you need. I hope that makes sense, it's kind of hard to explain in text.
@@RSKT_music Thanks for the reply! I think I get the basic concept but I'll keep an eye out for your workflow video so I can make sure!
@@wiegraf9009 no worries! I've still got quite a lot to film and just started editing what I've filmed already. Flat out at the moment but hopefully it won't take too much longer to finish.
@@RSKT_music Much appreciated!
Hi thank for your tutorial. I have a question. Is it possible to change pitch per step in kits/midi mode?
Hi there - you can definitely do this, and there's a couple of ways to go about it. First of all, turning the "custom 1" effects knob controlls the pitch. That said, it's a bit hard to dial in the exact pitch you want per step. Another thing you could try (for better control) is to copy the sample to another kit row, dial in the pitch using the transpose control, and then you've got a lot more say over what pitch each sample is :)
I know you can record effect automation. However, has anyone ever found a way to smoothly automate an effect (e.g. LPF) over a period of steps? Like smoothly fade in a low pass during the fist four steps?
Not really. I think the workflow would be to use a parameter lock on the step after the first four, and record your smooth fade live using the knob. It should immediately jump to the stepped automation when you reach the end. Not ideal, but it's a way of doing it I suppose.
When I push shift+ in the way you showed, it didn't duplicate the first bar's track. When I did it again, it did duplicate something, but it was the first bar, 1 bar of silence, 1 bar of the first track again, and 1 bar of silence. Do you know how things went wrong here?
Hmm, not too sure I'm afraid. It should basically duplicate whatever you have displayed on the sequencer. If you're too zoomed in, it won't copy what is outside of view.
When slicing samples can you parameter lock pitch per step?
You can. Custom 1 is mapped to pitch automatically with samples, so you can use that to automate pitch and parameter lock it.
