    @RSKT_music love the way you explain stuff, super clear. You just saved me from going insane. According to the manual, I should be able to move tracks in song view by "press and hold audition pad of the selected row to move + turn scroll (up/down)", but that's just not the case. Viewing your video, I found I actually need to press and hold a pad of the clip itself, not the "audition" pad.

    Man, the sections part was super useful... Thanks for the clean and concise videos. Really appreciate the effort! What's funny about the Deluge is that it pops little colors on the pads, or the occasional 'can't' message, but it doesn't really block you from making your track. Then I watch one of your vids, or check the PDF manual, and get an instant 'aha!'

    18:29 "It goes straight back into our drum row" - I noticed this only works if the drum row follows the fill row (in other words, is underneath the fill row). If the drum row is above the fill row, no more drums play afterwards. (You may have said this 😅)

    • @RSKT_music
      @RSKT_music  3 місяці тому +1

      That is correct! Sorry, I should have made that clearer. It's worth noting that the new beta firmware features "fill clips" and "once clips" as options too, which I find a lot more useful. Fill clips will start playing when it knows the 'end' of the loop will sync up with what's already playing. Once clips will play once and then cut out. I find these way more useful!

    For me the reason to have two tracks with same instrument that play twice - double tracking. You can have two synths on L and R with slightly different processing with immediately makes stereo image wider, but I'm not sure how often this is used (maybe there are better ways to achieve this with synths 😄)

    • @RSKT_music
      @RSKT_music  2 місяці тому

      @@sergeyfilinsky5398 that's... Actually a really good point I've never considered man. Cheers! Resampling something like that would make it sound huge. There's a new MIDI feature in the latest update that let's you loop back midi and play multiple tracks at once from a single track, so this would probably make it even more useful!

    • @sergeyfilinsky5398
      @sergeyfilinsky5398 2 місяці тому +1

      @RSKT_music wow, that sounds like actually a huge deal!
      I have pretty basic knowledge of mixing, but double tracking is something you do almost every time when recording guitar, since it's mono by nature and sounds dull
      I heard people do it to synths, but it much less popular since you can achieve good width by panning voices and lots of processing
      After watching, I tried double tracking basic synth with a bit shifted depth on them - it sounded big even with simplest synth on left and right

    Loving these tutorials, I'm just coming back to the Deluge after a 9 month hiatus and these have been great.
    When making a new instance of a patch (Playing Clones Together), is that 0A patch now always available, like a new saved preset? Or is it just part of this project?
    That loading a project at the same tempo tip is AWESOME!
    One note:
    When cloning, you don't have to click an empty clip row. If you hold the row you want to clone, you can click the row above/below it even if there is another clip there and it will still work. This is nicer than having to clone in an empty row and then moving the clip (assuming you want your variations next to each other).

    • @RSKT_music
      @RSKT_music  2 роки тому +1

      Glad to hear they're helping you get back into the swing of things :)
      I'm not sure if the cloned patch is always available or not! Haha, I never bothered to check, and I don't have my Deluge with me right now. I don't recall coming across patch 0A after creating this video, so I'm going to assume that it's specific to the project. Worth testing if you have the chance, but yeah
      Yes, you're right about not having to select an empty clip row. For some reason, I always just select an empty one if it's there haha. Old habits I guess.

    Do you plan to make an episode on the various ways to record (sampling, resampling, overdubbing, multritracking, etc) ?
    I find myself obliged to dive into the manual regularly on that subject.
    If you’re searching for ideas for the next tutorial 🥹
    Anyway thx for the video ! (I was amazed by the tempo+load function, I totally ignored)

    • @RSKT_music

      No problem at all! The next several videos are completed already (editing video 9 at the moment and still have lots to film). They'll be released weekly, so I have a bit of wriggle room if I get too busy with work. All of your requested features are included in these videos, except for multitracking. Basically, I'm trying to make this manual a reference on how to use just about every function, but not so much of why to use it. That's partly why this series doesn't contain many great "musical" moments lol.
      However, once this manual is out of the way, a new little series will launch that primarily focuses on different workflows and techniques, using the deluge with a DAW, how to make songs, how to synthesize drum kits, possibly multitracking, and loads of other stuff.
      So yeah. Hopefully I'll get to the multitracking for you, but if you have any other ideas, feel free let me know and I'll do my best to cover it :) thanks for tuning in btw!

    I can’t say how grateful I am for this series - thank you so much for making it. One thing that I can’t figure out - in song mode, the left row of my audition pads is always red, regardless of if they are muted or not. I can mute them, but they just flash before muting and never change color. Any idea why that might be?

    • @RSKT_music
      @RSKT_music  9 місяців тому +1

      Hmm. that is really weird. Are you talking about the "section" column or the mute/unmute collum? The mute/unmute column should only switch from green to red, unless you hold down "record" to set them up for live looping. The Audition pads should default to blue, and as you add more tracks you can change the colour of them by holing shift+audition pad, to group them into different sections. I guess it could also be possible that you have a faulty unit, but I'm not too sure if that's the case. You might want to take a video of this and put it on the facebook or discord server for the Deluge, and see what other people have to say.

    @peacefulpigeon7254 2 роки тому +1

    Hi thanks so much for the video - so clear and I learned A LOT! Hope you don’t mind some questions…
    Trying to make all the notes in a kit the same colour was a bit challenging as when the notes are entered in they are different colours and when I try to change the colour of one it affects all the others - but not important really! The clone function is great but only allows me one clone and then the message of file flashes and so maybe only one clone allowed do you think?.
    I really would like to fade the volume of synth and drum kit tracks up with a midi controller instead of toggling them on and off - this works fine with the synth as the master volume button can be learned. When it gets to the kits - when learning the master button it only relates to one sound in the kit and not the whole kit. This is even when affect entire is on. Do you have a good way of fading up drum kit clips ? The volume of the whole drum kit is easy to tweak when in clip view but I haven’t found a way to midi learn this knob? Thanks so much - sorry for so many questions! Cheers

    • @RSKT_music
      @RSKT_music  2 роки тому

      Hey, thanks so much for the kind words! I'll do my best to answer your questions :)
      1 - To change colours of individual drum rows, hold shift + audition pad, then twist the bottom navigation knob.
      2 - You should be able to make multiple clones of clips, so I'm not sure what's happening there. Is the "file" message only coming up when you try to make clones play at the same time? If so, clone your clip, follow the steps to have it play alongside the original, then clone the newly created clip. Sorry I'm not much more help with this one.
      3 - As for fading, there's a couple of things you can do. A lot of this will be covered in a later workflow video, and in the upcoming Arranger Mode video. However, one thing you could try is making several clips that you want to fade in, automate their volume rising (you could also use an LFO for this if you didn't want to do it by hand), and then que the full volume clips to start playing once those are done. I personally find that way a bit annoying to perform with. So the way I would do it (and this is demonstrated in the Arranger Mode video coming soon) is to arrange your fades in the Arranger Mode, let it play out and then jump into song mode and keep performing. Doing things this way allows you to perform with both arranger and song mode, and it's great for manipulating the effects of more that one track at once! I'm sorry if this explanation doesn't make a lot of sense, but don't worry it will all be clear when the Arranger Mode video comes out.
      Anyways, I hope I've helped in some way. Definitely keep practicing and thanks again for tuning in to the series :)

    • @RSKT_music
      @RSKT_music  10 місяців тому

      You can set something to play a set number of times, but if you want to sequence sections you're better off using the arranger view for that. You can jump back and forth between song view and arranger view while performing too, which is super helpful :)

    Hey, so after owning this thing for over a year, your tutorials have me finally wrapping my head around it. Really good stuff. I have my Deluge in front of me and will pause the vid to follow along/try out your lesson. ONE thing that has stumped me on this episode is the "drum fill" or "alt take/play once"-thing. Every time I do it, the other tracks are muted during the fill. What am I missing?

      @@RSKT_music The clip title is "section loops" and the time stamp (within the clip) is at 18:25. On your example, you already have the other tracks muted...so it's hard to pin point where I f'd up. On my testing, I did have my "fill" above the primary drum track (I've been following your actions pretty closely...to the point of recreating your tracks by looking at a paused frame, when I can). If the answer isn't something that is easily recallable for you, don't sweat it. I'm not going to ever use this live in a DJ/live improv type situation.
