    Sold my OP-1 and got a Deluge, no regrets. Deluge is easily the most complete and flexible all-in-one production unit I've worked with. IMO it's a short learning curve to be able to create song basics. Then if you take the time to understand how sampling and the synth engine works it turns into an unrivaled beast.

  • @Electrictechnic
    @Electrictechnic 3 роки тому +12

    the deluge is definitely a must have, its like a pandoras box/rubex cube where every time you think you learned it all of a sudden you discover another feature.. recording external gear in arranger and looping segments together alone pretty much justifies keeping it even if you dont need a drum/synth , basically deluge is a dawless daw ontop of all the other stuff it does

    Flip is probably the most useable mobile phone DAW i've ever used. Every other one i've tried has either been too complicated to justify wanting to do on a phone, too hard to use on a normal sized phone screen, or too basic and limiting. Yours hits a nice balance between features and ease-of-use.

    I really enjoyed this video considering I'm going on a 10 day trip and had to pick 3 instruments to take with me for days I'm bored in my motel room. I picked the SP-404SX (I mean look at my channel and pretend that I would go anywhere without my favorite box in the world), the Novation Circuit, and my Yamaha QY70. I managed to stuff all of these instruments and 10 days worth of clothes into one carryon bag and it weighs less than 20 pounds all together. I am gonna miss my guitars but travelling with a guitar just isn't worth it for a little over a week of vacation.

    You have to make your app flip sampler available for Mac OS as well!

    Gotta shout out the Elektron Model:Cycles! It can't run off a battery, but with a MyVolts DC to USB cable it can be run off of a battery bank. The thing is so much fun to just fiddle around with and manipulate in real time.

    It's only on a beta release and pre-orders so far, but the dirty wave m8 also checks all these boxes~~

    Great video, Andrew. What do you think of the MC-707? It's my favourite groovebox at the moment, because I like its UI and its synth engine (with 4 oscillators per track). It also has a very capable sampler, an arpeggiator (since the latest update), the classic Roland drum sounds and a great sequencer. I think you never did a review of the MC-707 and was wondering why. I also own several Elektron devices and two Electribes - but I keep coming back to the MC-707. Its workflow is so much fun to me.

    Andrew’s now considered a god after introducing portable music production with a sentient floating crystal.

    What about the MPC Live II? It's maybe a bit on the clunky side but you gain a lot in return by it being very tactile AND having a very useful touchscreen while also equipping surprisingly useful built-in speakers. Besides sampling, it runs synths as well and is basically a complete DAW in a box that can connect with wifi, Bluetooth, and tons of other hardware, including an SSD in the bottom.

      It’s the best, but I think the vibe here is “fits in your backpack with other stuff.” In which case Beatmaker 3 and iMPC pro 2 got pushed aside for an app that can’t even host AU or be an AU plugin…

    Deluge FTW. OP-1 delights and annoys in equal measures. Flip is fun and powerful but I’m currently immersed in the Deluge (see what I did there?).
