To be honest, they probably love more comfortably in that prison than at home or when they were in Russian army camp. They must have been so sad to leave
To be honest -- the POWs are, probably, leaving in better conditions, than Ukrainian soldiers. Because western TV is not allowed into Ukrainian barracks.
It is amazing seeing how well the Ukrainians treat their captured enemies, especially when we know exactly how Ukrainians get treated as "Guests" of the Russians! Ukrainian proves the right of their cause and why they deserve to win as worthy allies of the US/NATO
There is no reason to escape for them. They will be caught ASAP. Imagine Russian soldiers going around somewhere in Ukraine 1,000 kilometers away from the front line
@@AlexanderKhrebet Maybe, Ukraine was part of Russia until 1991 when it separated into a sovereign country. Many Ukrainians speak Russia. You cannot tell someone is Russian by looking at them.
@@williamwaters4506In west of Ukraine, everybody speak ukrainian. Men dressed as felon who can not say a word on ukrainian language would be immediately arrested. Also russian people have weird russian accent that is very noticeable to ukrainians. They basically speak on another form of russian language, using words that nobody even know in Ukraine. Escaping from prison camp for russian POW is an unrealistical fantasy.
It sucks but you want to put things like this out in hopes that the Russians try to match this level of humanity for their POWs. But I doubt it’s even remotely close.
Ukraine should be proud trying to treat POWs according to conventions. It has got to be difficult considering why those prisoners are there, and while observing what condition the Ukrainians that come back in exchange are in. Anyway, I'm sure that sticking to the conventions greatly increase the willingness of western countries to keep supporting Ukraine, the politicians don't get blamed for supporting wrong doing, that matters a lot in a democracy. Same regarding the efforts that Ukraine do to keep track of donated equipment. Documentation and evidence disarms those that would argue against sustained support. Misinformation doesn't stand a chance. Stay strong Ukraine, you're doing the right thing. 🇺🇦✌️
They had a choice. They could protest and fight for freedom inside russia. Not doing that they chose to fight Ukraine. Chances of dying fighting for freedom inside russia are much less than on the modern battlefield.
They would need to have a need for freedom in the first place to fight for it. It's like saying why cattle does not rebel on the meadow before they are sent to the slaughter house. Cows do not think what farmer is doing to them. They are just happy to chew on grass. You can't expect a cow to think like a farmer.
Officers hold viable intel and such about russian positions. This idea came from the British in WW2 where POW german officers were treated a bit higher class. They gained important intel to win.
@@paulhui3282well that’s if they’re taken alive. The problem with the Russian military is that they don’t utilize NCOs in the same way the U.S. does and rely heavily on high ranking officers to direct troops. This of course leads to them giving themselves away to scouts and snipers and getting smoked.
These people were kidnapped from their siberian villages usually. Imagine loosing your passport and all legal paperwork, they go to your house and take everyone from a village.
@@trevortrevortsr2 my apologies for misunderstanding. I agree. But we can still notice the fact that these people are very poor with no mental health support. Either way, hopefully they can “return” “home” for Ukranian POWs. But russia doesnt treat their veterans nicely..
Prison or Military was a pretty common judicial practice all over the world. Sailors used to be pirates, French Legion used to be full of criminals who fled to France. And some convicts may good soldiers. A soldier is a mercenary of the state.
I don't understand why the POWs want to go home so quickly. Because as soon as they're home, they'll soon be back at the front. I'd rather be a POW for longer. They're doing well there. They are warm, have a bed, medical care, enough to eat and can make three phone calls a day. Much better than being at war again.
Better off than many Ukrainians who had their homes totalled, families killed in rocket attacks. Others homeless and cold, even those in their homes, cold in winter. This reporter - has he been to Russia to interview Ukrainian POW's? Have any non-Russian media been allowed access to POW camps?
I bet those POW are very happy to be watered and fed with decent conditions - and not fighting Putins illegal war and all the depravations and horror which that entails.
Let's be real here, this video *is* propaganda material, but I am sure that Ukraine really does treat its POW's with respect that's been shown in this video (though they definitely showed the nicer sides).
It's really important that the international community is checking in on the condition of these pow! We have a responibility to make sure they are kept safe and under humane conditions!!
The worst part is there is going to be some if a lot who will beg to stay here in Ukraine rather than go back home and face "punishment" or even killed . If they get lucky, they may go home and the community treats them like a leper avoids them. They'll face social isolation either way.
The Russian Ukraine war has so many similarities to both WWI and WWII. The trench warfare they have fought in and are still fighting in is exactly how it was during WWI and the POW camp looks a lot like the POW camps in Poland during WWII.

I'd prefer it if Ukraine didn't publish videos where the prisoners are identifiable. Better if the shots did not show the prisoners' faces. An official at human rights watch said: “Although it may seem in some videos that POWs are free to speak as they wish, they are held captive by another military force, and it’s almost impossible to judge from one video the conditions they face.” But an war crimes expert quoted in the Washington Post, said that, even where such interviews were not permissible: "the videos don’t constitute war crimes but are instead technical violations. And she said it’s important not to compare them to graver violations." We know from UN officials that violations of the Geneva Convention by the Kremlin do constitute war crimes, and are far, far more serious.
Australia here God Bless you all this is so sad to watch there poor families. Putin should be ashamed of himself sending men and boys to the front line. If Putin wants to fight, where is he safe at home he’s rubbish . Stay strong Ukraine God Bless you all Australia 🇦🇺 is behind you.❤❤❤
It's difficult to believe whether or not POW's are treated well, this could all be for the video, or they can all be living better than in their own army, but it's a time where one side can completely lie and make themselves look good. I'm not saying that this is 100% not true, but when it's so easy to lie about the treatment of others in war time, that you have to be cautious of what you believe.
Exactly, Ukraine needs global aid and support. They wouldn’t shoot themselves in the foot by posting anything that opposes that goal (this video is from a Ukrainian news source). Who really knows what goes on in these camps.
I believe id stay at the camp, theres no life goin back to russia. Keep busy, kept fed and clothed. Help your captors and they will keep you alive. Ukraine is a thousand times better nation than Russia will ever hope to be.
To be honest, if I were a Russian soldier, I'd prefer to be a POW in Ukraine than to fight in the Russian army. At least these POWs are safe, have food and medical attention. Meanwhile, on the front they are basically treated like cannon fodder by their army and officers. Plus, they are fighting a war that they have difficulty in justifying morally so their morale is terrible. I'm surprised that most of them want to be swapped in a prisoner exchange to go back to Russia. I guess they miss their families... But still, I think it's WAY safer for them to just stay as POWs till the end of the war.
Because that's the difference between a country who aspires to be a liberal democracy who respects humanitarian laws and an authoritarian dictatorship that doesn't. It's important to show these Russian PoW's that, as they'll remember how well they were treated when they go back home to their dictatorship.
Prisoner exchanges. They get Ukrainians back Also soldiers who send back are deprogrammed from Putins propaganda so they could become a thorn in russias side
It's better to get back your POW then be stuck with enemy POWs. Think about it - when you get your POW back, you boost your manpower with someone who's already seen combat and is trained. If they're wounded, you get back someone who can train other or just go back to their family. It boosts your troops' morale, knowing that they will be exchanged if they get captured. On the other hand, having enemy POWs is practically throwing away resources on people who do not support the war effort in any way. It's better to get 1 of yours back than to keep 1 of them. Plus, Ukraine isn't a large country and trained soldiers are a limited resource.
Ukraine are so kind to Russian prisoners after all the Russian captives are forced into fighting in Ukraine. They are wise if they surrender to the Ukraine forces, at least they will not be killed . God Bless you Ukraine hero’s.

Transparency is important during confusing conflicts like this. If one is not Ukrainian or Russian, it is difficult to understand all the intricacies of the cultural and political dynamics and history. War is one of the worst things humankind practices. My heart feels pain for all those forced into this terrible situation.

This might be a POW camp where no one tries to escape?
There is no reason to escape for them. They will be caught ASAP. Imagine Russian soldiers going around somewhere in Ukraine 1,000 kilometers away from the front line
@@AlexanderKhrebet...and with all that prisoner exchanging going on, and POW's having nothing but time, they might as well just bide their time.
@@AlexanderKhrebet Maybe, Ukraine was part of Russia until 1991 when it separated into a sovereign country. Many Ukrainians speak Russia. You cannot tell someone is Russian by looking at them.

Escaping from prison camp for russian POW is an unrealistical fantasy.
Happiest men in all the Russian military.

They had a choice. They could protest and fight for freedom inside russia. Not doing that they chose to fight Ukraine. Chances of dying fighting for freedom inside russia are much less than on the modern battlefield.
The choice was between prison or fighting. Nice gaslighting.
Russians do support the war by the overwhelming majority. For a lot of poor regions, the war became a financial boon.
When you get a call from the military and you refuse it then you go to the military court and then to prison
Wait,Officers don't have to work? Some things never change.
Officers hold viable intel and such about russian positions.
This idea came from the British in WW2 where POW german officers were treated a bit higher class.
They gained important intel to win.
There’s also a clause in the Geneva conventions that officers must be treated better according to their rank
@@paulhui3282 huh i didnt know that
@@paulhui3282well that’s if they’re taken alive. The problem with the Russian military is that they don’t utilize NCOs in the same way the U.S. does and rely heavily on high ranking officers to direct troops. Well technically in prison they are not officers they're just ordinary civilians like anybody else

My 🇺🇦cousin is in the AFU these people are often happy to surrender to be taken as POWs. Often they’re starving, thirsty, terrified and injured.
Ukraine treats them good compared what Russia treats the Ukraines. Doesn't seem right.
They should take them to Ukrainian towns and force them to rebuild the homes they destroyed.
Treated very well. Great to see.
I wouldn't be surprised if more than half of these POW's don't want to go back to Russia. The Russian prisons make this look like a holiday spa.

How many countries has USA invaded unjustly this is a geopolitical war and USA and co are the ones at fault

You should allow prisoners to say what they want, when interviewing them.
Like many in war these men were forced to fight not all maybe but a lot, they also have families mums dads wives siblings they were dragged into this war believing ukraine were a rogue country once again ordinary men used as cannon fodder.i read thousands of Ukrainian young men fled the country rather than fight they to do not want to fight, it's terrible what's happening, the world needs peace, seems like that has become a pipe dream.😢😢
I'd prefer it if Ukraine didn't publish videos where the prisoners are identifiable. Better if the shots did not show the prisoners' faces.
An official at human rights watch said: “Although it may seem in some videos that POWs are free to speak as they wish, they are held captive by another military force, and it’s almost impossible to judge from one video the conditions they face.”
But an war crimes expert quoted in the Washington Post, said that, even where such interviews were not permissible: "the videos don’t constitute war crimes but are instead technical violations. And she said it’s important not to compare them to graver violations."
We know from UN officials that violations of the Geneva Convention by the Kremlin do constitute war crimes, and are far, far more serious.
Better to be alive, fed, warm shelter than being hungry, cold or dead, these are the lucky ones

Why are you being so nice to them? The Russians would torture you.
Exactly because we're not like them. Though sometimes I think the same as you.
Because that's the difference between a country who aspires to be a liberal democracy who respects humanitarian laws and an authoritarian dictatorship that doesn't. It's important to show these Russian PoW's that, as they'll remember how well they were treated when they go back home to their dictatorship.

He sad Russia didn’t want them back .
These guys are the lucky ones, that’s for sure.
They shouldn't go home until the war is over. There's a really good chance they will be sent back to fight in Ukraine
Prisoner exchanges. They get Ukrainians back
Also soldiers who send back are deprogrammed from Putins propaganda so they could become a thorn in russias side
@@buckplug2423ukraine is a very large country
If you treat prisoners this well you have reduced hundereds of soldiers rejoining the enemy when released, hell they might even join your side
