KYIV, Feb 15 (Reuters) - Ukraine said on Thursday it was withdrawing troops from some parts of the eastern town of Avdiivka to better positions after months of heavy fighting, and battle-hardened reserve fighters from a crack brigade have joined the battle. Russia is trying to encircle and capture Avdiivka nearly two years after its full-scale invasion of Ukraine and Kyiv's foothold in the town appears increasingly shaky, with its supply lines threatened. Capturing Avdiivka is key to Russia's aim of securing full control of the two provinces that make up the industrial Donbas region, and could hand President Vladimir Putin a battlefield victory to hold up to voters as he seeks re-election next month. "In Avdiivka a manoeuvre is underway in some places to withdraw our units to more advantageous positions, in some places to force (the Russians) out of positions," Ukrainian military spokesman Dmytro Lykhoviy said in televised comments.
Wow - I saw Adislav choosing to join the...was it Freedom of Russia unit? - over six months ago. Preferable to returning to Russia and being killed. It's good to know it went well and he's fighting on the better side now - and alive. Not sure I believe he always intended to surrender but there you go. Good luck to him and Mikhail!

Honestly USA should send our prisoners to fight in Ukraine . The prisoners would volunteer of course. Even 1 percent prison population is at least 10k soldiers. Plus all the prisoners that were in the military.
It is a violation of international law to have POWs voluntarily fight. Why is this acceptable? If Russia had Ukrainian POWs that chose to fight for Russia, would everyone find that acceptable?

Asking for volunteers to swap sides in front of a bus load of previous comrades and now witnesses ain't exactly tactful, and probably not as fruitful as it could be.
He said it's the last chance, so the option has likely been presented before.
If he's still alive he's exceeded all expectations. They cut a bit out, the recruiter in the bus asked him what unit he was with and he replied "Wagner". The recruiter nodded knowingly. It's good to know it went well and he's fighting on the better side now - and alive. Not sure I believe he always intended to surrender but there you go. Good luck to him and Mikhail!
I hope these young men survive and can turn their lives around and have a solid future in Ukraine or anywhere else but Russia. I wish them luck.
These videos are fake......If Russia is so bad then why did 4 million in Crimea VOTE to leave Zelensky rule and join Russian Federation? Out of 1,250,00 votes 81%. Same with 7 million in Donbass..that is 11 million gone and another 14 million in west Ukraine fled to Poland and EU. Tell us Goober
