This is my first time growing garlic and another channel said to wait until almost all the leaves were dried up. I left my garlic in way too long and some of the cloves started sprouting 😢
Thank you so much for this detailed information. Now I know what to do next time. I won’t listen to anybody else from now. Lol. Big up yuhself 🇯🇲
I enjoy how kind & loving you guys are. I came here to figure out how to harvest mine & I’m leaving with not only more knowledge but confidence in myself. Thank you so much. Much love 🌱 ❤
Can you please explain how you built the raise bed?
@@cruz1742 hi! I did not build a raised bed for my garden. I plant in-ground. Look up Charles Dowding no dig method.
This is how I got started. I put cardboard over my grass, got it wet, then I spread 2 feet of freshly cut woodchips over top. (Talk to a local arborist to get some delivered). Over the wood chips, I dug 18” deep rows & filled in with free compost from my city. Then I planted in the compost. In the fall I cover completely with at least 1foot deep of leaves from my neighbor’s trees. 💚
Thank you so much for this very straight forward and thorough info about garlic reaping.First time I plant garlic and this information is perfect .Keep up your great work.

I SO appreciate you giving this tutorial on when to harvest garlic. THANK YOU!!! Also - so glad you've gotten a much better mic. Now I can hear you so much better.
Great tips. I always like to move the soil and check to see how well the garlic is growing. Same with my carrots. Harvesting 5 months after planting is amazing.
@Gardening with Princess you have a new sub my dear💯🤝🏿🌹
What time of year do you plant your carrots? We were a little late to the draw with ours this year but we'll make up for that this fall.
@@jamesfrankland38thangs58 thank you!
@@humbleservantshomestead7974 I plant in late winter or REALLY early in the spring. I've tried planting in fall, but they never make it. My fall weather is very strange lol
Useful information and great video, thank you. I usually plant in October (I'm in west Japan, more or less Zone 9) and reckon to harvest about the end of April with 4 dead leaves. I don't have as much garden space as before so have to plan carefully and will follow the garlic with sweetcorn making sure to leave the cut off garlic roots in the soil, never done that before.
Wish I’d seen this three weeks ago my garlic cloves are already exposed
APTTMHA! Shalawam Ahch. Thawadda for another edifying lesson on growing food. Many blessing to you and your family! Shalawam.
Shalawam ahch! APTTMHA indeed!
Beautiful garlic! 🧄👍
Awesome garlic
I have a small plot and start harvesting yesterday. Zone 8b
This is my very first time growing garlic, which I planted last Nov. or Dec. I needed to know how to tell when to harvest my garlic which looks very nice in my garden. I covered it with straw last fall. I founc your channel and you were showing how to know when to harvest it. Thanks so much. I am your newest subscriber. God Bless.
Lovely harvest. Blessings
Thank you Kathy!
God bless you Aameen 🤲🏻
Hi Humble Servant homestead! Your videos are such a blessing to me, I was wondering how you prepared your soil for planting the garlic. Would you please share, I want to try growing some in the fall. God bless 😊
Great advice! Thank you for sharing. Your gardens are beautiful. Can’t wait to see how you cure your garlic. Peace and blessings.
Greetings from South Africa 🇿🇦, Johannesburg. I learned so much from you two today. Thank you so much for the great video. 👍
Great tips
Thank you for the tips. I just harvested one of mine today, and it wasn't ready. ❤
I'm glad you posted this video. I was walking by my garlic here in Zone 7, and I noticed how brown and dry the bottom leaves were. I felt very unsure of myself, but I decided to harvest the browning garlic. I'm glad I did because 2 bulbs had already lost too much of the wrapper, exposing the cloves. It seems very early to be harvesting garlic. Last year, my garlic was ready around May 25, not May 1. 20:41
When did you plant your garlic?
Beautiful garlic patch
Awesome!!! Thanks for the invite to come along.
🙏👍🌻
I watched a lot of videos on garlic before planting mine for the first time in October. Have a lot of it and shallots in two beds and watched a lot more videos more recently contemplating whether it’s ready to harvest yet not wanting to be too soon or too late. Thank you for sharing your experience and lessons with us! I think it’s likely now ready, tips on all have started dying back and at least two bottom leaves have died back. Thanks for pointing out the first may have disintegrated by the time the third dies because I think that’s likely happened on mine. But, I’ll know for sure now just brushing the soil away tomorrow to check what’s going on under the ground and pull them confidently when I know they’re ready thanks to your video. Thanks again, Sir! Peace and Blessings to you too!
A simple but informative video about garlic. Thank you for sharing
Just planted some Elephant garlic, and about 300 Colossus garlic in my garden down here in New Zealand. God Bless and thanks for the great tips!
Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us. I've learned a lot about growing garlic.
Love this turorial. Perfect explanation for why we need to do what we need to WHEN we need to do it.
New sub here. Perfect speed talking, excellent method of explaining thr method and what happens if you don't follow the schedule nature is speaking to us if you pay attention to it (and know what those signs are)
Excellent video sir!!
Thanks for the tips..I look at them everyday and wonder what's going on! Are you ready, no only 2 leaves down. Patience is running thin 😅
Lolol, are you able to move some of the soil to take a peak at the bulb? We know all about the patience part lol. Cheers to a blessed harvest when it's time of course.
I did dig around and tried to spoon my finger around them, felt on the small side.
Yes
Excellant video, that was much needed information I've been looking for, this is my first year growing garlic , just about ready to pull them....Thank You...!!!

I went to harvest my garlic today, I pulled two and they weren't much bigger than the cloves I planted, so disappointed, after waiting eight months for them.
Your channel is awesome. I just found it. Love the channel name too!! The tutorials are so throughout.

How do you cure your garlic after you pull them?
Great video, we are harvesting garlic today and I'm doing a short video. We have a curing rack we are going to dry and cure the garlic. Can you show us how you cure and store? God Bless your family. Mike
Greetings I am from Guyana and my garlic is not growing so good please tell me what to do I'm watching your video what soil should I use
What is the drying process?
I want to know what fertiliser to use to make head bigger
I just harvested my garlic scapes and made garlic scape and herb butter.. froze it so I haven’t tried it yet but it sure smelled delicious . Is it true to hold off watering for a bit before pulling the garlic?
Are you worried about grazon being passed from the animal feed to the manure?
We are not because the hay we use has not been sprayed with grazon! That's why it's important to know your local farmer and build relationships. We dont have a grazon issue here. Also if you look back at our videos our crops grow beautifully every season without issues. We would never feed our animals feed that has been sprayed because WE also eat the animals that we raise.
Chicken manure does not have a grazeon risk if you free range, grow your own chicken feed or feed them non GMO feed.
How long it take to grow garlec please i live in west indies
Im in zone 9a and planted my garlic December 1st. No freezing or snow here. Our landscapers cut our garlic greens off but they regrew. Do you think they will bulb with their setback? If so, when should I be able to harvest? I'll check for your tips but also wondering what timeframe im looking at. Ive heard it should be July, but i dont get snow or freezes that slow them down over winter.
I’m also in zone 8a. What month did you plant your garlic? Did you have to place them in the refrigerator first prior to planting? Thanks in advanced
We planted them during the winter the last week of November. They were not placed in the refrigerator. Most of the cloves we planted were actually from garlic we grew and harvested last year.
@@humbleservantshomestead7974 thank you for such a speedy reply. My garlic did not bulb up unfortunately. This year will be better. Thank you again.
@@DeloressGarden what time of year did you plant them? We can plant garlic anytime between fall and winter as long as the ground is workable(not frozen). Even in winter, if there is a break in the weather to work the ground then go for it. Just remember to fertilize them because the love nitrogen. We use a lot of manure from our animals when we plant for this reason. It's high in nitrogen. We did a video last year on fertilizing garlic with store bought fertilizer as well.
What varieties did you plant
Hey cousin How are you?
Good day cousin hi am doing well. How are you and family?
How long it take to harvest?
Ohhh! so they wont last as long and will spout early
They store pretty well when they are harvested right on time. There is plenty of paper layers that preserve the bulb vs when they stay too long under the dirt and the layers rot off.
Camera person cant be asking questions and interrupting. Do an interview episode for those questions.
This is the best explanation that I’ve found. Thank you!
