- This is my first reaction off Radiohead's "Kid A" a album, and wow.. what a way to start the album! I have never heard anything quite like this.
Please like and subscribe, and leave a comment regarding what other songs you would like me to react to! This has been a blast so far, great choices everyone! - Розваги
Radiohead has a real gift for using odd time sigs and making it seem like it's normal, easy listening I don't even notice half the time.
That’s a good point… That was something I was thinking about addressing in another video... How they use these odd time, signatures and unusual phrase lengths and make it sound so unassuming.
Highly reccomend The National Anthem, its crazy and just by far the best song on Kid A.
Also! Just want to say that I love your reviews! You're so musically knowledgable and it makes the reviews really interesting!
Thank you! What a nice compliment. I will check out national anthem. Everybody suggestions are great can’t thank you all enough.
@ErolReacts thing I reccomend most is In Rainbows, possibly my favourite album :)
No way is the best song when Idioteque and How to Disappear are on there
@@L0-np8zx I just think the atmosphere and power behind the song is crazy and I really love it.
@@L0-np8zx Thanks!
I love watching musicians reacting to Radiohead, I always learn something about why it doesn't sound 'normal' and adds another reason to love them.
I'd highly reccomend watching them live, In Rainbows live from the basement is outstanding, its like being with them in their rehearsal room, its so good they done it again with King of Limbs live from the basement and thats also outstanding.
Thanks… This has been a real ear opener for me. Everybody suggestions are really great.
One of my favorite tracks is "House of Cards", but the argument for "Nude" would have me listening too
House of Cards is soooo great
I’m really eager to listen to all of these great suggestions. Definitely a cool band. I have been missing out!
Jigsaw falling into place and decks dark please!!
Next I would say you gotta do "Bloom" from in the basement or "The Daily Mail" from In the Basement live sessions. Welcome to the rabbit hole
Hahaha! It’s been a nice trip so far! I will definitely check out those two songs.
Make sure its from the basement! Most fans agree that those versions are better than the album versions on king of limbs
Yassss!
@@dedemianmia9854 Definitely. I heard the studio version of Bloom and then started listening to the From the Basement version, and the chaotic instrumental opening sounded okay but I was thinking, “Meh, the studio version sounds better.”
Then Colin hit the the first note on his bass and everything changed.
You're right, thats definitely in 10/4.
Never realized that, thanks.
Your welcome. Thanks for watching!
They are one of the best live acts around and have been for many years. They have 2 live in the studio sessions with amazing sound quality called from the basement just a couple of recs would be Nude, Reckoner and All I Need those sessions have created a lot of believers.
Thanks. One of the hard things about this is waiting to hear a new song that suggested until I do the reaction video! Otherwise, I would be listening to all of these now!!!
Subscribed for radiohead reactions
Thanks!
Had to subscribe on this one! You can never go wrong on RADIOHEAD. My absolute favorite band. I hope you do more.
Oh, I will! What a great band!
Glad to see you deep diving into Radiohead. Totally worth it. Still wondering what other bands/musicians Allie will recommend, but hoping it includes among others Tool and Fiona Apple.
I had a couple other requests for Tool. this is the first one for Fiona Apple. They’re definitely going on the list. Thanks.
@@ErolReacts yeah, Tool has a massive following, while Fiona, although being a brilliant musician and composer with several awards and acclaimed by the critics, she's pretty underrated as she turned her back on mainstream record labels and media a long time ago and became sort of an outcast. However, she's arguably the best female solo performer alongside Bjork and Tori Amos to come out of the 90's.
Yeah, I have been recently getting into Björk lately. So creative and interesting.
Tool is cool!
Loving this channel and your insight!
Thanks so much!
My favorite Radiohead song: "How to Disappear Completely".
Had a bunch of requests for that. Will give it a listen soon
Great reaction. I'd love to hear your take on their track, 'How To Disappear Completely'
thanks! It’s on the list!
This entire album is a complete left-turn from the band when it came out in 2000, only 3 years after their most critically acclaimed album- regarded as one of the greatest alternative rock albums of all time. A lot of the songs off Kid A are absolutely fascinating when it comes to chord progressions and just new, fresh sounds. It still feels alien. Way ahead of it's time. Would love to see you react to more off this record.
Thanks for the insight into this fascinating band!
Radiohead is awesome!
Nice reaction/analysis.
You should check out Tool next- start with The Pot and you'll be hooked. Or the live drum cam of Pneuma for an up close look at their genius drummer Danny Carey. 😊
Ooooh, sounds like a great request! Thanks, it's on the list.
@@ErolReacts I second Tool, definitely give them a listen. The Pot is an accessible song, but frankly not one of their more interesting. Pneuma is a good one, so is The Grudge, or Rosetta Stoned.
Great to be surprised. I love the small connection sounds that get amplified out to the left and right that imply the hook. Especially the right. Not a pun but maybe intended. They are devilishly deceptive. Love em’!
Oh yeah... very cool! Thanks!
For a long time this was my go to for a post run kick-back and let the endorphin wave crest.
Subscribed only because you're reacting to my favorite band Radiohead!
Greeting from Nuuk, Greenland btw.
Thanks and welcome!
Ok Computer is a masterpiece. I can never get tired of In Rainbows. RH has so many wonderful songs. The In the Basement stuff is outstanding.
Thanks, I've had quite a few requests for those so they are definitly on the list!
Great reaction, analysis, as always, Erol. I recommend the whole of Kid A. lol.
Thanks, There's so much good stuff here!
It's always good to see another musician try and break down Videotape by Radiohead.... Sounds a very simple piece, but is probably one of there most complex, especially when they do it live........You should give it a go, most reactors fail though ?
This sounds interesting... will HAVE to listen! Thanks!
You need to check out The Pot by Tool
I’m starting to get a lot of requests for Tool. Its on the way
@ErolReacts so is the Tool Army. Spiral out 🌀
Now you have to listen OK Computer! Airbag and Climbing up the Walls are my two favorites
If you'd like to hear Radiohead messing around with time signatures, try 'Sail To The Moon'.
Will do. Thanks!
Hi! Love your videos so far. Always nice to see people discovering new music and it's good to be able to learn a little about music theory from you.
As for a suggestion I'd say any performance by Jeff Buckley, although his live performance of Lover, You Should've Come Over in Chicago is his best in my opinion. He was a bit of an influence on Radiohead but other than that he was an incredible guitarist and singer who never gets quite as much attention as he deserves.
Thank you! I’m glad you like the channel. Your suggestion sounds like a good one. It’s definitely going on the list!
How to Disappear Completely is a great song also off Kid A
Thanks! I will check that out.
At this point you should just listen through their full albums lol. Start with ok computer
Sounds like a plan. Thanks.
Yes. As great as some of the songs on OK Computer are, it's much best experienced as a whole. The contrasts between the songs are just perfect.
@@nicholasschneider6655 I have to give that a try! I'm an old school "you have to listen to the whole thing to get it" kind of guy. Thanks
Saying, "great reaction" to you doesn't seem appropriate. I just watched you listen to Tool and now Radiohead and learned so much. Thank you!
Wow. Greatly appreciated!
Dad needs to react to all of In Rainbows, especially Reckoner
Also, Idioteque
That seems to be a popular request. On the list! Thanks
You should check out subterranean homesick alien. It's underrated, absolutely gorgeous and one of their best. Love the videos man!
I'll check it out! Thanks
@@ErolReacts can't wait to hopefully see what you think! Anytime:)
I would love to suggest you the songs "Daydreaming" and "How To Disappear Completely" by them 🤗
Thanks. Will do!
I burned just this song to a CD and just listened over and over back in the day
Cool tune for sure
I think Radiohead is best appreciated live. Check out 'the Daily Mail' live from the basement.
I reacted to a few live videos last sunday and they are currently blocked due to copyright issues. Hopefully they'll clear soon! Thanks.
Just for your own comparison (doesn't need a reaction video), check out the version of Everything ... by the jazz pianist Brad Mehldau. He's a real Radiohead fan--I believe he's covered six of his songs on his albums (I saw him play Paranoid Android at a solo concert here about 20 years ago).
Will do... thanks!
Let’s do some bon iver, my other favorite band
Great idea
I’ll add this the list of reactions to record for this Sunday’s studio day
I highly recommend videotape 😁
I'll check it out!
Definitely do house of cards
It’s on the list! Thanks
Thanks for another great reaction! Steve Reich composed a piece called Radio Rewrite which was inspired by 2 Radiohead songs, with 1 of them being Everything In Its Right Place. He talks about meeting Jonny Greenwood and his approach to using the songs as an inspiration here if you want to check it out: ua-cam.com/video/OAImOs3u-vc/v-deo.html
Thanks! Going to check it out now.
Hi Erol, am loving the reactions and music theory interludes. Id be interested to hear your opinions on some Aphex Twin who was a massive influence on Radiohead's Kid A LP. Id suggest this track, Vordhosbn, but anything of his is worth a listen if you don't already know him. 😊 Link to video: ua-cam.com/video/XYrQC-jWMFM/v-deo.htmlsi=3QdnFamL4jtTMw9o
Cool idea… I’ll put it on the list. And thanks!
RADIOHEAD is the modern day PINK FLOYD. They're always experimenting with the sound 😅😊
Agreed!
