I was in Japan last month and came across a Coleman camping store that was stocked like I had never seen in the states. In the back was a complete service shop for stoves and lanterns. I was amazed at all the spare parts and their respect of how well made the Coleman’s were made and their desire to keep them working for years to come.
Cody, these are the type of videos that got me watching your channel… the maintenance of tools and axes is what makes you stand out from the rest.. love your channel..
Im 51 and we had the exact same Coleman stove and toaster. The smell instantly brings back childhood memories of sitting in the Canvas Tent having coffee at 5 am waiting to walk cutliines for moose and elk. Thanks so much for sharing. You cant buy quality like this anymore.
When I was a teenager in the mid 60's we started going on camping trips and my Dad got a Coleman stove just like that one. Some really great memories cooking on that stove. Of course my Mom or sister would do the cooking but I sometimes would pump it up and light it.
Wow, my dad cooked us up an unfathomable number of lil smokies off this same stove model up in the Sequoia mountains up among the redwoods. This brings back quite the flood of memories!

I just don’t understand why we’ve gone away from the classic, last a lifetime when properly cared for gear, like this fantastic stove. I remember using one of these as a kid in the 70’s camping at Brighten bush every summer, all over Oregon actually such great times as a kid. Excellent work, Cody.
I have this same unit and can’t wait to take it apart and clean it up! Got mine after going through nine of those small green propane cans. White gas for the win! Also got the lantern.

Seeing you that excited about that stove has me astonished since my dad has the exact same stove he got in the 60s and it was the workhorse for every camping trip we took. The condition his is in is absolutely immaculate but I never thought twice about it until seeing this video. He obviously did a very good job of keeping it clean and dry over the years.
Excellent restoration and ingenious design... having that brass fuel pipe go over the first burner means it's pre-heating the fuel before it comes out of the burner, allowing it to vaporize quicker and possibly even build a little pressure.
Those old Colemans were and still are the main go to stove for outdoor camping, parts still available some way over price. Yes, mud dabbers and old gas-rust are the biggest culprit for issues on those. If you find one of the 3 burner models those were handy for a base station stove. Thanks for the video
I had one of those that I bought in the 90's to use when I went out observing. I heated up plenty of water for coffee to keep warm with in the middle of the night, and cooked lots of breakfasts, too. I think I gave it to my brother-in-law.
I’ve been “rescusing” camp stoves from garage sales for years and, lo and behold, I have a 425C in my collection. And it needs some serious cleaning! Thank you for the inspiration, I’ll be digging into this project soon.
I have one in the shed just like it! It was my grandfather’s. Haven’t used it since the 90’s when I bought a propane stove. The video makes me want to clean it up and use it. I also have his red single mantle Coleman lantern.
After years of wanting a full white gas set up, I worked on a guy at church’s truck and he rebuilds and sell Coleman white gas stuff. I was blessed to get a full set of a heater, stove and lantern as payment for work! I’m so ready to use them more and I will cherish them for life and pass them on!
I have a 425e that was found in a barn. Cleaned it all up and works like a charm. I’ve also purchased adapters so I can run it on white gas/gasoline, propane, and butane/isobutane. It runs excellent on all of them, and it’s always great to have options
That is a gem, one hell of a find! I can hear my Grandad pumping it up earlier in the morning to start the coffee on the elk hunt! Nothing better than the smell of white gas burning in the Coleman stove in a canvas tent! Love it, thank you Wranglerstar!
Nice, I struck Gold too, I found a brand new Coleman 3 burner at a thrift store for 7 bucks. It still has the cardboard sleeves around the fuel line ends and also on the corners of the wind shield. Coleman started stamping the month and year they were made on the bottom around 1971. Mine has 3/92. The boyscout in me loves this stuff.
I think my favorite part of your videos is how you take the time to do everything right. The little things matter and they are often overlooked. Thanks for another quality production!
I literally have three of them on my shelf from my grandpa. You are more than welcome to them, my friend. I will send you all of them. I do not use them anymore. My hunting camp has a real freestanding oven/stove for the past 10 years.
Over the years I’ve accidentally became a Coleman collector. I have one of these, plus six different stoves. Not to mention 16 lanterns. I use them and quite enjoy them. Looking for a copper funnel like you have. There should be a date stamp on the stove.

Great find. I remember the Scoutmaster using one of those decades ago, us Boy Scouts had to cook over a campfire. Use camp fuel only; unleaded gasoline will gum it up. The gas stoves are much better than propane because they are more fuel efficient and will operate in very cold weather, but they require a lot more maintenance. It is the perfect "prepper" stove. That one is a little rough. It is not hard to find them in like new (only used once, LOL) condition.
Used to use the old Colman 3 burner petrol stove with the Scouts it was the only way to boil the big Billy-can about 2 gallon of water gas stoves wouldn't touch it Great to see one again but now i have seen it i want to get one LOL
Still have a coleman 440 single burner stove n my son or daughter will get a hell of alot better than anything modern or from a certain far eastern country do love the new videos Mr W 😂👍👍
I found two of these at the local second hand store only with round copper tanks , did a refrib on it and works like a champ and the other will be a Christmas gift.
I managed to snag one just like this at a yard sale today, and its in mint condition. I watched this video a few days ago an really thought the old stove looked very nice and wish I could get one too. this video help a ton with getting it stated and it works great!
I have the exact same one. Found it in a transfer station. Completely restored it. I use it often in my outdoor kitchen area. I bring it in during the winter. Good find brother!!

I own a Coleman stove from the late '40s. It belonged to my dad who bought it new. I plan to restore it. I remember him cooking our breakfast on it camping many weekends.
A great video. Love those old Coleman stoves. Remember the scent of the burning white gas and cooking bacon and eggs at sunrise in the hunt camp and that was right after the percolated coffee was done complete with coffee grounds in your steel cup.
My Lord! This brings back so many pleasent memories of my childhood . My Uncle John had one of those stoves. I can remember stopping at the same gas station on our way to the lake for the white gas. Can't tell you how many hot dogs, hamburger and fish I ate off that grill>
Appreciate this video, I picked up a used stove recently too! Didn't get the deal you did but more then happy at $30. Feel better prepared to service it now. Many memories with these stove on camping and moose hunting trips with my grandfather in northern Maine.
I remember a stove exactly like that when I went on hunting trips with dad back in the 80s. We had one similar there too but it must of been one of his friends. Great video
My neighbor has no less than 15 of these stacked up on a shelf in his garage. I have one myself. Portaged 5000km (3000miles) across the Canadian shield with these stoves in my youth. So like 17 years ago.
I think the 425C is what I grew up with. My dad bought one while working at a grocery store in about 1955 or 56 and we used it for all our family get togethers in my youth. I was just talking with my brother and he has the stove with him in South Carolina, and when he gets the money to do so he’s going to send it to me here in Japan. I’m excited and looking forward to it. Thanks for the video!

Too much online stuff is over polished these days and it doesn’t help fill those willing to learn with confidence if the pros (Prohos) seem to be doing everything perfectly and not making mistakes. Well done on the restoration chaps! It’s also neat seeing your tool cabinet organisation in these videos. I’ve just ordered my first for my garage workshop to run in random with my bench and am super stoked to get it setup to maximise my workflow! Keep the great content coming.
I'm 64, back in late '60s, we camped every summer for a week in a tent, My mom ,dad and 4 kids. I still have my dad's Colman gas stove exactly like yours. Colman made quality and durable products.

This stove was/is Canadian Army standard issue for winter tent groups. Works well and is reliable.

Super Clean is EXCELLENT for cleaning stuff like this. You should make it a standard shop supply. Great for cleaning circular saw blades, too.
My 80 year widowed neighbor just gave me her husband’s Coleman stove. It needs rebuilt and cleaned up. What timing!
