I'd like to add in here: I kind of felt the same way about it early on. It took playing many games for it to finally click. After spending a lot of time playing different leaders and really figuring out the the flow of the game a bit, I think it's pretty great actually. I think over time the lackluster responses I've seen might change.

    Nice to hear more impressions.
I believe you can take the initiative early if you so desire. (Ending your turns for the round.) In case having the initiative is really important for your situation.
Having no interrupts can lead to a lack of interaction. Funnily enough, it is playing against control-decks in magic that people tend to really not enjoy.
I felt that in Lorcana there was a lack of player interaction. I haven't felt that problem in Drakerion or FaB. I'm curious if it will be a problem for me or not. Typically the I-go-you-go format makes a card game feel more interactive for me, to an extent.
I wonder if you'd really enjoy Sorcery when the Beta finally appears. It has a lot of the things that you seem to enjoy.

I think the back and forth with no interruption is designed to mitigate timing issues and rules. This is why things like Hearthstone stated they had originally nothing stops an attack. They laters added some cards that you played but triggered when an attack happens and reveals and does something. Down side is that you can’t choose it is the next attack.

Instead of thinking like "I don't have any way to stop that" you need to approach this game how chess players approach that, you have to play several turns ahead.
Once you begin to think ahead and play X moves in advance you'll begin to like it more and the feeling of "I can't stop it" goes away because you're playing cards to preemptively stop your opponents strategy, again, just like a chess player thinking 3 moves ahead to stop a check mate

Ya this was my take away as well. Very few things in the game come out of the blue with no time to react to it. Your opponent only gets one action and then it is your action. Ambush cards are the only ones you really get out of hand and they can only hit units in the same arena and they are typically expensive and low stats for their cost. For combat tricks the unit needs to be on the board and ready and all units come into play exhausted you would have had plenty of time into interact with that unit. There wasn't no way to stop it, she just didn't take any actions to stop it before the opponent did what they wanted.
And in particular Vader is control Luke is midrange, and Luke yellow (which was played) is going to lean more aggro, as the control you need to control the board.

Well, as often Luke can put on shields, Darth can ping it off.. 🤷🏻

It’s frustrating and clunky trying to play any game for the very first time cause you just don’t know how to play. Vader is actually a direct counter to Luke and here’s why. Luke puts shields onto units that entered play that round (cost 1 resource). Vader, not only can he ping the shield off cause he gets to do one damage to any unit (cost 1 resource) but it also does 1 damage to enemy base! Also, Luke can only put a shield on a unit that enters play that round. Vader has no such restriction. As long as you have 1 resource to spare, he can do his action.
Also, I’ve played a lot of games on felt table where you can play against AI. I don’t think I ever played a game where me and my opponent weren’t able to get our leaders out. You just have to learn the flow of the game better and you will start to have more fun.

Was unable to get to GenCon sadly! Misse dout on those promos!
I also was a massive Destiny fan. Am kinda on the fence with Unlimited.
Wife got into Lorcana(her first TCG) ans we are loving both the game and a hobby to so together!
    Great video and insight. Subscribed!
    Thanks!

Been watching. Haven’t played. But really concerned as a super Star Wars fan. My concern is it will wind up feeling like Ashes Rise of the Pheonixborn did for us which was ultimately lackluster. The back and forth straggled the game instead of making it fun. So I have concerns.

I played lorcana for a bit. Almost had a playset minus two cards. I quickly got turned off by the toxicity in the community and I found the lack of interaction kinda boring. I traded in my collection and Star Wars will be the next game for me. I find the dual lane system really interesting and I love the engaging and untraditional turn/round format. I hope it’s a good game because I’m all in.

There is LITERALLY no shame in trying a card game that's not the one you're already familiar with. This is a HUGE step for people like you.

As a big SW fan myself, your opinion has made me feel this wil not be that great. Their previous SW games where very good though. I really enjoyed SW The Card Game. Dont know if you ever played it?
It limited your deck building in a sense, but it had great interactions and the asymetrical gameplay was fresh and fun.
For my wife who likes to play more defensive in games being the Dark Side really was great for her, eventhough I am more into those characters than her.
I hope that there wil be better interactions that the demo might not have shown. Looking forward to know more, but high chance I wil skip it. Limited resources and if this game is lack luster I rather spend more on MtG. ✌️

Not everyone will like the game. That's okay. Sounds like she got a bad shuffle and the deck didn't play right.

I find that SWTCG by Wizards of the Coast was more fun for me than this. Star Wars Unlimited seemed to borrow that concept, condensing down the number arenas for 3 to 2. As a huge Star Wars fan myself, I found nothing new about this game.
Another thing I find disconcerting is that FFG has a history of starting and discontinuing games (9 straight, Netrunner, L5R, SW Card Game, Call of C'thulu, Star Wars Armada, Stars Destiny, X-Wing-technically sold off, Star Wars Legions, Star Wars Imperial Assault,). I'm not sure how I see this 10th game being any different. Also, Star Wars itself has changed for me after I soured on the Sequel Trilogy a bit. If they start including Sequel Trilogy characters, I'm definitely out.
Finally, there is the fact that they announced this game will have set rotation. So pretty much after 1-2 years, your cards you bought are worthless unless they have a some kind of eternal format.

X-wing wasn’t sold off. It was sent to Atomic Mass Games which is owned by Asmodee just like FFG

Decipher Star Wars and Star Wars miniatures were/are/will always be fun to play. Stars Destiny was decent but was cancelled; how will Star Wars Unlimited be different?? Card games even Star Wars one seem be hard to endure and suffer greatly from poor quality; fantasy flight games canned Stars Destiny so they cannot be trusted period. Now if WOtC of even decipher made a game I might be check it out but Fantasy flight games no thanks not ever again...

Why would u give up the thing u like for a part u can easily ignore tho, the sequels are already confirmed for this game as well and it's probably going to be on all future games and roy collections as well. I get not liking the sequels but u can pick the stuff of star wars u love and not worry about the rest.

Star Wars the TCG is great alongside the CCG, and destiny and also I m going to be honest I just love star wars games in general.
I think the tcg is my favorite with the ccg is as second, I don't know where this is going on the list but I hope it is good.
