Fun fact about Insect Queen in the manga: Unlike in the anime, Joey never bothers to use her like he does with Jinzo (whose ability was always useful) or Legendary Fisherman (who in the manga was a four star monster and easier to bring out).
Insect queen was always one of the dumber early cards to me cause in a limited format all you can really do is just wait around until you can attack on your next turn whereas an opponent van get out a blue eyes or dark magician that can easily attack over it unless the field is flooded with insects
Insect queen's unnecessarily high rarity back then made pretty much everyone ended up pulling it in packs(e.g. Beginners Edition 2) which lead them trying to somehow _use_ it. I recall nobody who carried THAT out successfully.

The thing i always found weird about insect queen was they talk about it's eggs hatching in the anime. Both Weevil and Joey suggest those eggs can give birth to a new monster but there's no card to suggest it.
Like, can you imagine if there was a Continuous Spell that, if an Insect Egg Token survived your opponent's turn, turned it into an Insect Soldier Token that had a similar ATK gain effect as Insect Queen for your entire field? Like, _During your Standby Phase, you can Tribute any number of "Insect Egg Tokens": Special Summon the same number of "Insect Soldier Tokens" (EARTH / Insect / Level 4 / 1200 / 1000) that have the following effect. •All Insect monsters you control gain 100 ATK for every Insect monster on the field._ If the Spell doubles as an Insect-locked DNA Surgery clone, it also makes the "Weevil vs. Joey" strat more consistent. For the curious, assuming the maximum number of these Tokens, and Insect Queen herself, loading up 5 of your Main Monster Zones, all 4 Tokens would be 3200 ATK, and the Queen would reach 5700 ATK. This is without accounting for the Extra Monster Zones, or your opponent's board.
In the manga they hatch after being summoned, 1200 atk 0 def. it also didn't have the tribute to attack effect, darn shame how much they butchered some cards in the org/tcg.

I love Fushioh Richie despite how bad of a card it is. I really like the flavor of a wizard doing a thing in order to become a lich is a cool concept. I could see retrains of the two like make Fushioh Richie an extra deck card and the summon condition be something that is actually achievable in the modern game. IDK maybe its just that it reminds me of the flip mechanics in MTG cards transforming under the right conditions is cool.
I still love the original Shadow Ghoul because it got me my most clutch win ever in the old GBA Eternal Duelist Soul game. My opponent had 3000 LP and a monster out, while I had nothing in my hand, 100 LP left, and just one card left in my deck. I drew it and it happened to be Monster Reborn, which I used to revive Shadow Ghoul with 4600 ATK, and attacked over his monster for game.
Fushioh Richie is a fun target for „A wild monster appears“ as its flipping mechanic allows it to bypass the downside of said spell card and thus it remains on the field. I would argue that this makes it much better than the majority of the cards on this top 10 list, since it can fit easily into a deck that has numerous targets for „a wild monster appears“ and most of the other 9 monsters have worse effects and stats or require more gimmicks to bring them out alternatively.

I remember playing in a progression series server that started from the very first set. Once in a while, we would do a no-banlist tournament and the first one was on the release of IOC. Everyone did Chaos or Scientist shenanigans, but I went the route of stun, and funny enough Metallizing Parasite Lunatite was a key part of the combo. Send a monster from the field to GY (Nuvia the Wicked or Boar Soldier), activate Last Will to get Parasite, Metamorph into Last Warrior, profit.
When I saw this in my recommended, I was half expecting one of my favorite archetypes to get dumped on. Rein-Beux Overlord of Dark World's effect is really niche, being that his effect exclusively bounces him when being discarded from GY by an opponent's effect, and his row destruction effect only activates AFTER he's successfully special summoned off his own effect. Kinda surprised that Regenerating Rose didn't get a Yubel Retrain like with Grave Squirmer, Samsara Lotus, and Grinder Golem. Like, let it float on any destruction into letting you add a Yubel or a card that mentions it to your hand. And knock that defense down to 0 while we're at it.
Humanoid Worm Drake should get a modern Retrain to Egyptian God Archetypes; like how God Slime turned into the 3 Sacrifices. While we continue talking about slime, Konami should finally print Mad Dog's (GX) Slime cards. Imagine a Egyptian God Deck with a Hand destruction x Burn Deck. This would definitely bring the God's to a Higher Tier in the current Meta. Edit: The Burn Strategy is an Ode to Yami Marik's sadistic play tactics.

Wall shadow could've been good, it's effect just needed a few tweaks: - it can attack using it's 1600 points of atk while being on defense position - if it destroys a monster by battle it can attack again - if it is in your hand when you activate magical labyrinth, it returns itself to the deck and you draw two cards And even with all that extra advantages, it still wouldn't have seen competitive play, it just would've been good for fun, gimmick focused decks.
I'd say you're half wrong about Allure Palace and Golden Allure Queen being currently unreleased since they were released this June in the OCG, but haven't yet in the TCG. In the OCG they got them in Animation Chronicle 2024 which if I recall correctly typically has it's cards imported in the TCG in Battles of Legend sets, I'd say they'll probably get released in the June-August 2025 for the TCG.
You use Future Fusion on Worm Zero or Snake Rain to get Worm Victorys stats up its one of best ways to clear monsters in a worm deck so to good for this list.

Funny thing, I tried to make both Wall Shadow and Allure Queen work. With Wall Shadow, I kicked it out of my deck after a couple losses due to back to back brick hands. Allure Queen came closet to decent with cards like A Forces and Razz helping the Guards. Unfortunately, a lack of proper support made Allure Queen difficult to play.

Perfectly Ultimate Great Moth will always be the ace monster I use with Weevil’s deck in duel links. Insect Queen needs a busted skill to even bother with, and I like to use suboptimal decks in the first deck slot in DL to focus on summoning their ace, but Insect Queen can go away

If a “Worm” monster you control attacks a defense position monster, inflict piercing battle damage. If a “Worm” monster you control destroys an opponent’s monster by battle, or directly attacks your opponent: You can Normal Set or Special Summon facedown 1 “Worm” monster from your hand or deck._ ATK/0 DEF/2500
A slight correction about Flare Neos: the highest potential attack it can have only by its own effect should be 11300. This due to there being several trap monsters that are still treated as traps when summoned as monsters. So if Flare Neos is summoned to a ED-zone and all other spaces on the field (except the other ED zone) are filled with Spell/Traps and trap monsters that are still treated as traps, then his attack is: (24x400)+2500=11300 I hope this inspires someone to make a Flare Neos OTK
Weird thing about cheating out Humanoid Worm Drake within Phantasm Spiral is that Fists of the Unrivalled Tenyi could also summon, like, Gagagigo the Risen or if you needed a Fusion for whatever reason there's also Aqua Dragon though due to that being a McDonald's Promo with no reprints it's slightly less dirt cheap.
16:40 AND in the original manga, it didn't need to sacrifice a monster to attack (though to be fair, neither did Joey's Panther Warrior). It was hinted that the tokens had another effect too, but Weevil never got a chance to use it.
The silliest part of Fushioh Richie is that it mentions unnecessary details on its summoning condition instead of just saying "must be Special Summoned by the effect of Great Dezard".
I actually made worm victory very valuable...I built a deck based on milling my own deck into the grave to use double summon to bring him out and using spells that flip him face up to nuke the field ...a niche use with worm zero.
Humanoid Worm Drake has a funny niche in a terrible old Goat format fusion turbo deck - King of the Swamp and Humanoid Slime are both low ATK Water monsters so they can be returned to the hand with Salvage to go for another fusion, and Worm Drake can enable Dark Factory of Mass Production or Heart of the Underdog. (Worm Drake can also hit under Messenger Of Peace and block out attackers during Messenger Of Peace funnily enough.) ...But you are better off going for an actual boss monster like Dark Paladin in old fusion turbo decks anyway. ^_^"

Insect Queen was such a missed opportunity for what could've been a good boss monster. Also, pretty sure that in the Manga, weevil straight up maces the kid with bug spray.
Humanoid Worm Drake deserves some credit for actually being as strong as the sum of its parts. If you look at almost every other fusion, they're way weaker than the combined ATK of their materials.

But modern support has made him more viable, so I'm glad the list recognizes that there are other 7's far more scuffed.
My favorite Level 7 Monster:
Poseidra, the Atlantean Dragon
(I love him so much, I have him as a 1 of in my Atlantean/Mermail deck)
I have a Shark/Atlantean deck, Poseidra is the Boss Monster with Shark Drake. I can't wait for the new support!
@@il3fortunato664our lord and savior is making his triumphant return. Poseidra just had to get a retrain in response to what the Fire Kings (the Atlanteans’ biggest rivals) got
I always liked insect queen, but really hate what they did to her. I wish they made some kind of strategy around her, like giving her a tree born frog who restricts it's after she it's it. Or a field spell that gives you buffs for the tokens.
Also my man worm Drake making it to finals! First ever fusion monster I tried to summon
Instant contact and flare neos goes great into Kashtira, Red-Eyes galaxy tomahawk shenanigans. He’s great.
3:53 Card games in general. I find it one of the draws of MTG commander
Make a top 10 rarest combinations of type and atribute. Great top TDL.
The intro alone was enough to remind me of how much I despise kashtira fenrir.
18:58: I feel a bit chuffed because that one popped into my head. But I'm not alone, aren't I?
If you haven’t yet can you do a top 10 worst machine type monsters? Also if you do I think metalzoa would be a good addition to the list.
Humanoid Worm Drake has a sick design. I had no idea it was in the anime
The number one spot may be bad but come on man, it’s so cool.😅 when I first saw this card I was like damn this is cool until I read the effect. However, I like how it basically references how a Lich is made and how it’s basically an undead king striving for immortality.
Wall Shadow. Well back in my playground days nobody cared about Wall Shadow's effect. We play it as if it was a normal tribute monster.
Insect queen felt like great moth part 2 as a kid. One of the coolest cards youll never even come close to doing anything with
What was messed up about that Waking the dragons flashback is after Weevil & Rex got beat up, a stray dog lifted it's hind leg at them. I think we all know what that implys
Wall shadow could've been good, it's effect just needed a few tweaks:
- it can attack using it's 1600 points of atk while being on defense position
- if it destroys a monster by battle it can attack again
- if it is in your hand when you activate magical labyrinth, it returns itself to the deck and you draw two cards
And even with all that extra advantages, it still wouldn't have seen competitive play, it just would've been good for fun, gimmick focused decks.
I guess that one Phantasm Spiral player did not have access to Aqua Dragon for its 50 additional attack lol
It's been written in the ancient books that anybody who can make a competitive Fushioh Richie deck will unlock infinite power and wisdom...
Top 10 RUSH Duel retrains
The labyrinth wall episode of the show was my favorite episode, and so I've always been attached to the card. It sucks that it sucks so much. I've always wanted to use it?? EVER?? And I haven't been able to use it ever. :(
18:12 They had us in the first half NGL.
Funny thing, I tried to make both Wall Shadow and Allure Queen work.
With Wall Shadow, I kicked it out of my deck after a couple losses due to back to back brick hands.
Allure Queen came closet to decent with cards like A Forces and Razz helping the Guards. Unfortunately, a lack of proper support made Allure Queen difficult to play.
another negative of white night queen it that at the end of her effect say "that target" which means that set card have to be set when her effect resolve.
I have a strategy with fusihoh richie that won me a local tournament. You see, i took the card, and i placed it in the garage can, and by filling that spot with a different card, it allowed me to take first place. Would recommend.
6:11 Idea to retrain this card to make the “Victory” part more apt:
_Worm Victory - Violence_ (LIGHT)
Level 7
Reptile/Flip/Effect
_FLIP: Destroy all Face-up Monsters on the field, except “Worm” monsters._
_Can be Normal Summoned/Set by tributing 1 Reptile monster. ”Worm” monsters you control gain 500 ATK/DEF, and can make additional attacks per battle phase, for each Reptile monster in your GY. If a “Worm” monster you control attacks a defense position monster, inflict piercing battle damage. If a “Worm” monster you control destroys an opponent’s monster by battle, or directly attacks your opponent: You can Normal Set or Special Summon facedown 1 “Worm” monster from your hand or deck._
ATK/0 DEF/2500
No Slot machine?
REALLY?
A slight correction about Flare Neos: the highest potential attack it can have only by its own effect should be 11300. This due to there being several trap monsters that are still treated as traps when summoned as monsters. So if Flare Neos is summoned to a ED-zone and all other spaces on the field (except the other ED zone) are filled with Spell/Traps and trap monsters that are still treated as traps, then his attack is:
(24x400)+2500=11300
I hope this inspires someone to make a Flare Neos OTK
Weird thing about cheating out Humanoid Worm Drake within Phantasm Spiral is that Fists of the Unrivalled Tenyi could also summon, like, Gagagigo the Risen or if you needed a Fusion for whatever reason there's also Aqua Dragon though due to that being a McDonald's Promo with no reprints it's slightly less dirt cheap.
Bro said worm victory and I remembered the rescue rabbit series what a throw back
Have you ever made top 10 for monsters that can equip themself to other monster? If not, I think thats a good video, no?
20:57 I love what you did there
You should make a video of the 10 worst cards in general. I’m curious what the worst of the worst are.
After 15 years I just now learned that Magical Labyrinth was the labyrinth reforming itself and not a diamond fence
I was running a master duel masochist deck and I pulled white veil. I saw a few victories using it.
Suggestion: Summoning condition that make over power/broken monsters unplayable.
Ex: Horus LV8
I actually made worm victory very valuable...I built a deck based on milling my own deck into the grave to use double summon to bring him out and using spells that flip him face up to nuke the field ...a niche use with worm zero.
Humanoid Worm Drake has a funny niche in a terrible old Goat format fusion turbo deck - King of the Swamp and Humanoid Slime are both low ATK Water monsters so they can be returned to the hand with Salvage to go for another fusion, and Worm Drake can enable Dark Factory of Mass Production or Heart of the Underdog. (Worm Drake can also hit under Messenger Of Peace and block out attackers during Messenger Of Peace funnily enough.)
...But you are better off going for an actual boss monster like Dark Paladin in old fusion turbo decks anyway. ^_^"
Fun fact : Worm Drake can be "considered" as Worm archetype since Worm archetype can target any reptile-type Worm monster
Even worse about Richie Rich... he was an ULTRA RARE. And Great Dezard was a Super. Extremely painful to open.
You know it's a sad day for Worms when their arguably best monster makes this list.
Humanoid Worm Drake has 1 of the coolest Artworks / Designs ever though.
"But this is not ice cream" was funnier to me than it should've been 😂
I love how a vanilla fusion monster that has no effects is sort of the best on this list.
Hi TheDuelLogs, do you have a video of the top 10 generic cards to use going first and second? (Two cards that come to mind are Called by the Grave and Kashtira Fenrir, but there must be more). This will help a lot for people who play Master Duel, which is best of 1.
9:43 I don't know.... the fact that its minimum a Giant beatstick that you can easily summon from Neos Fusion should at least make it the number 10 of the list
18:34 Bakura has a line with this?
I'm shocked he put allure queen here even tho it just gotten support making it playable now
You could hypothetically use Melodius to get it out with one sacrifice I meant White Night Queen
Kid me used to run Wall Shadow in my deck and because of how it worked in the anime, kid me and others assumed it would have the effect to attack in defense position
Having a 3000 wall that can also attack was really good and really not how the card worked
Insect Queen was such a missed opportunity for what could've been a good boss monster. Also, pretty sure that in the Manga, weevil straight up maces the kid with bug spray.
This situation is _not_ ice cream.
Well 'The Undead King' will be forever living as number one on this list.
Flare Neos is the most commonly used Contact Fusion Monster in the GX anime.
Humanoid Worm Drake deserves some credit for actually being as strong as the sum of its parts. If you look at almost every other fusion, they're way weaker than the combined ATK of their materials.
