I remember my old it 2500 running fine on the stock cooler for a long time. It was made for like 100 watts of power. • @dilutedoxygen

An extremely simple vapor chamber and a single 'heat pipe' thats literally just a hole drilled through the alumium slug would work better, heck, with how cheap drilling holes is, you could get 4 of them in there and cap it off with something simple, like some more aluminum that is slightly oversized for the hole

I recently built a system with the i5 12500 and the stock cooler and i found it pretty appalling. it was LOUD! Also the system did not survive a 10 minute run of Cinebench R23 without hitting the high 90's and even eventually 100 degrees on one of the cores.
Cooler was correctly mounted, side panel was off, ambient was 23 degrees.
I suppose it's kinda okay, albeit loud, on the locked i5's and below but it is quite bad compared to even 20$ alternatives. you get a lot of noise for free.

Codpiece is my favorite medieval clothing item. It has form and function, and it's a hilarious word.
The word comes from the "Middle English" word for scrotum, which was 'cod'
I wonder what they called codfish, then, unless they named the fish after the ballsack, which is just rude to the poor fish. It's not *that* ugly and weird looking (I'm talking about the fish. Dude scrotums are fairly hilarious and weird looking)

You could get out an older case with a side air intake with the tunnel to the cpu cooler and test again .

I thought it was mildly hilarious that you were trying to melt a CPU while playing Battlefield... in a snow setting

14 degrees ambient. Do you live in a fridge?
If that was my 10900k you would of needed to call the fire department

If you'd ran cinebench a couple of times the plastic shroud would have melted.

can you compare all the intel stock coolers and see what one preforms the best, (and the old one from like a optiplex, the current dell cooler, the 12th gen intel stock cooler and perhaps 10th, and 11th gen) I know that it sounds time consuming but it seems like a good video and gives us an idea how intel and dell have done in the past 10 years when it comes to cooling
