Project SPL Goes Foam Crazy!!!

  • Time to mix up & pour some 16lb density 2-part urethane foam from US Composites. This stuff is crazy strong. It's description on the website is "This 16LB density foam is essentially as hard as a rock, you would need a hammer in order to make any dents in this product." In my opinion its just as strong if not stronger than concrete and at a small fraction of the weight. Its working perfect to add strength while filling in all the voids inside #projectSPL. Check it out for yourself at www.uscomposites.com/foam.html

They make a knife that cuts that foam like butter. We use it a little in commercial roofing. It’s designed to cut away the excess foam and smooth edges where it seeps out. Just a tip. Cool build. Can’t wait to see it finished. 💪👍

I would like to see the foam poured between two pieces of plexiglass that has a wood frame on the sides and bottom. That way we can see what the foam is doing and how much expansion it has. As far as the shop don't worry about it, haters gonna hate because that's all they have. You can clearly do clean builds. The Express proves that. I for one would like to see etched plexiglass somewhere in the back. Keep up the great work.

A messy show says alot, business wise. Ive gone into alot of shops that were quite clean yet the shop dont do much business. think about it takes alot of time to make a shop spotless. If shops busy then they dont have time to clean up. cleaning a shop dont make money working on cars makes the money, yes no shop has to be insanely clean but also no busy shop isnt messy to a point. every shop ive been in that actually is busy looks just like this one if not a little worse.

something i learned when i was younger, a spotless shop is just that = no work gets done, all the time is spent cleaning. a filthy shop = no work gets done as they can't find the things they need for work. a cluttered shop = work getting done.
what i saw is some clutter.
like going to a mechanic and he's got no dirt under his nails and his clothes are clean, i ain't letting him work on my car as it will never get done.

God damn man got enough foam lol, keep going im here for the actual build of the system not the wheels or anything, im loving the path your taking so far, Ill say it for ya man you hungry for 170+ db. other then the rims that would look crazy if u replaced the tint with mirror tint or chrome tint which ever the tints called. I had to actually drop my amp off at my buddies to get repaired i finally after all this time fell into amp vibration, one of my coils vibrated loose lol has to be glued back down already done gona be picking it back up this weekend. got some nice anti vibration padding coming in the mail as well. cant wait til you start installing the actual audio equipment thats what im looking forward to. not sure if you already have the stuff but if you do could you give us a little teaser of the stuff? Ive got a feeling this build when all said and done is gona make me hit the sub button lol. Takes a different kinda build then what everyone else is doing to catch my interest, so far youve got my attention on this one.

If for comp I wouldn't worry about looks too just I would have the best air flow for the amps but if for comp/demo and shows I would do a elegant etched plexi over the caps and flip the amps and light the guts of the amp with etched plexi. dont worry so much about the time lapses, people DO like them, we expect to see things like that if we click on videos about any projects, when the upload is 10+ minutes, it gives the illusion of a story moving forward, a talking shot can really only hold peoples attention for a couple minutes, do variations during the video to keep the pace of the video up...good work though, and i appreciate the content! always liked, and watched to the end!
