Def flooded with people late to game. Happy with my 2 bottles that cover the extreme 💪 (Doc Swinsons) to a real mellow 😎(Barrel) of the amburana range.

I am a fan of Amburana, but I get it. I think the market got flooded with it. Everybody wanted to do what Starlight did with it. I love the Starlight and the RD1. The RD1 has the classic cinnamon flavor, but with a touch of apple pie filling. Its unique. At the end of the day, if Starlight continues to make it, I’ll be happy!
The Achilles heel of Amburana is that they all taste similar to each other and the flavor is often an occasional experience and not something I've seen anyone drink as a daily drinker or regular pour. I could never see myself owning more than two Amburana finished bottles and they would likely be drank slowly over years or shared to others who are curious.
Only one I’ve had is the RD one. I LOVE it. But nothing to compare it to yet. I wouldn’t drink it often, but such a nice change of pace pour
I've only had one Amburana finished whiskey, Starlight Cigar Batch which I enjoyed. Like you said it goes great with a cigar, preferably a Connecticut Shade wrapper. I tried without a cigar and didn't enjoy it as much. For me I'm going to say its just a fad.

For me, this is a fad. There are a few interesting bottles that stand out: Starlight, RD One, Rio, ASW. I have a few others as well (King's Distillery Toasted Rye Amburana!). But for the most part, for me this isn't a go-to finish like sherry finish would be.
We love amburana finished whiskey! The Starlight is crazy amburana on the nose but you get cigar on the palate. I like the Barrel to but RD One is my favorite. Boone County is unique because you get the pot still effect from it.

Not something I’m interested in. I’m really not a big finished guy I can handle the French oak but not a fan of double oak finishes. I have had some good bottles for some like the Sagamore DO OF1910 and WR DO and they were just okay with me at best. It’s obviously a palate thing and to each their own on what you buy and drink. But not a bottle I’ll get just to sweet and I prefer bold and spicy flavors in my whiskey. Great show . Enjoy!!
A store owner asking for advice about clearing out inventory? Two simple words more store owners should learn to solve that problem: 'clearance sale.' I'm sure plenty of people will be interested in a nice half off special to bother with trying things like this.

Nice topic! I picked up a Penelope Rio a couple of weeks ago and for me it’s really nice occasional pour. I won’t be getting any other bottles unless it’s blended with others.
Not a fan, got a Starlight Cigar Blend...it's too much, it overpowers. It wil be my only Amburana purchase.
I prefer Madeira and PX Sherry finished over all others:)
Can’t both things be true? On their own, finished whiskies are not my jam. But, with a cigar, man the flavors really blend nicely. So we are getting hit over the head with amburana recently making it a fad. But as people find out they don’t like it, it will die down. But it will stick around, at least the better ones, for those who enjoy it. There is room for everything. Cheers Judge

Amburana finishes have already hit critical mass and they're definitely on the downward slope in terms of trends. They just vary so much from brand to brand. Companies like Koval, Penelope, Four Gate, and Starlight do it really well, but there are too many mid bottles out there like RD1 that are too abrasive and turn people away from it. I'm also a huge fan of finished whiskey, but Amburana is in a class of it's own because it's so strong. I have a bottle of Barrell Amburana, which I like a lot, but it's a somewhat lighter Amburana finish than most. But I'm not looking to have a large Amburana collection - it's a very occasional thing for me.
Excellent point Jon. Barrrell’s Amburana is a bit lighter than most.
Judge, while I like the Amburana finish, I agree it is not here to stay with one exception, Penelope "Rio". In my opinion Penelope "Rio" manages to tame the amburana with honey so it is a better experience. Perhaps it will be one of the last surviving amburana infused bourbons ever.

I think you answered your own question at the beginning when the store owner said they just sit on the shelves. These are not for me, but capitalism (at least in the U.S.) always wins. Maybe they’ll stick around as a small niche market thing.

I had only one, from koval. So unbalanced, couldn't taste the whisky. In France we have no brand with an amburana finish I think. But still think it is interesting. Thank you very much for your video. It was a subject I wanted to know more about it 😊

I’m ok with some finished Bourbons but Amburana is just not for me. I bought Barrell and Fiddler Amburana and just did not like them. One pour of each and gave them away. I’m sure many people like them but I think this is just a fad.

Disagree... redline's amburana is amazing! Give me more like that and i am paying top dollar! I think its more about the implementation of amburana and not the thing itself that will dictate the value.
