I hope you all enjoy this run! As I said in the run here, this is my favorite video game and I am honored to show off what it is capable of and what the speedrun looks like after 9 years of practice. I really wish the end had gone better, but overall I think it was a pretty representative depiction of the game. Haha. Thanks for supporting GDQ! See you next time. ^_^
Hi PJ! Congratulations for this very solid speedrun. Do you remember me? Of course you do, you're such a nice guy! I was scrolling through the AGDQ playlist looking for any speedrun made by you and I'm really glad that I found this! I always knew that you are awesome, I remember that I was cheering you up since your first attempts ^__^ Man I can't believe 9 years have passed already! This is a great pay off for all your hard work after all those different strats and live streams. The run was almost perfect!! all the first half is so incredible, no time lost, you got all the patterns/strats right and never failed the double phoenix on gargoyles, also I'm impressed with how detailed and technical the speedrun commentary was. The rest of the run is great too, the only death that really hurted me was the one against Tanzra, but everything else is wonderful. I'm glad that you are still defending Actraiser 2, you already made this game more popular thanks to your streams and the 2 live runs at these events. Also Thank you very much, I'm so honored for the little shout out in the interview, you didn't say my name but I know that you were talking about me after you mentioned the SDA forum =) That made my night. I hope you're having a great start of 2019.
I've watched a few of these speedruns by PJ and the motto for this *entire game*, not one stage or two, is: _"Everything is fine until it isn't."_ Also Blechy's commentary is always top-notch. 10:37 - 12:33 - 19:10 - 22:33 - 24:23 - 25:10 - 28:08 - 41:36 (42:30) - 43:21 [Final Boss]
i am just watching it and: definitely! though this years agdq had a lot of great runners and commentators, pj and blechy are my favorite ones i must say. both of them had the perfect mixture of skill, competence, eloquence and likeability
This is one of the best games you can watch with the person who has put all the work for 9 years for making this game easier for new speedrunners. Great job PJ!
I would watch PJ play anything. Hes by far my favorite speed runner. I have literally went back to earlier AGDQ and RPGLBs just to watch his runs again. Thank you PJ!
Suuper solid run! PJ is my favorite runner, to bad the game didnt crash this time around but hopefully the next run will be more back to normal ;) Also Blechy is one of if not the best commentator out there so in my book this is pretty much a dreamteam couch/run(other then mariopeople). Thanks a lot of this! Also the time was great, pretty much world record pace the first few levels? Which is crazy for such a punishing game..
I know I'm two years late but THANKS FOR THIS! Loved this game, at least in theory, because it was TOO DANG HARD for me. Like Weaponlord, I love the concept, the aesthetics, everything about it...I'm just awful at it and not the kind of player who enjoys "git gud" games.
I didn't know anything at all about ActRaiser 2. This was great, the movement tech and tight windows of everything is certainly impressive. Great job to the runner and commentary.
I actually loved this game in my '95 teenager days (around 2010, guess I was into retrogaming already) though I found it hard, I loved the challenge and the visuals. Good times, and a great run to watch !
Rushmore of couch commentary: Blechy, Puwexil, Sinister1, and Duckfist. Solid run, always enjoy PJ's runs. If you enjoyed this, you should check out his Bionic Commando runs, pretty hilarious! Hell, PJ makes all of his runs fun with his own commentary, cheers good sir!
Dude Blechy (the commentator) is a god he is always so knowledgeable and eloquent i like him a lot and paired with one of my fav runs makes this just a gem to watch
Dammit I really wanted to attend this. Never been to a gdq event before and I coulda seen PJ run one of my favorite games that I haven't played in like 20 years!
Wow! What a run! I love the first Actraiser and can beat it on professional no problem, but I remember renting this one back in the day and couldn't get anywhere on it. Way to kick it's ass for me!
Oh man, I have been playing this game since it came out and I still can't beat any difficulty higher than normal. I just can't manage the lag and the crazy hit boxes even half this well. Sweet run.
Got this game for my birthday when it came out. Was also disappointed in the lack of a sim mode. But man, it's so good. It didn't take long to get the hang of the jumping, gliding, and attacking. Can't do this obvs. But the graphics, music, and gameplay are just so good. Always thought if they implemented the sim mode with the same level of improvement and polish, it would have been remembered as one of the greatest 16-bit games ever made.
I remember playing this game, I managed to finish this game in a SNES in the 90s when emulators didn't existed, finishing games at those times was a challenge, it was definitely one of the hardest game I played. Awesome run btw.
What an epic game and run! I always wanted to like this game when I was younger. I loved the first ActRaiser. This game was way too hard! I might try to play through this game someday.
Never got the meme that the second game was trash because it was different from the first one. It's hands down the best looking platformer on the console and no games comes close to having that many moves, you can glide, double jump, use a lot of different moves/magics, the stages and the enemy are also very cool, not to mention on the same kind of difficulty as Super Ghouls N Ghost. What's not to love?
Not as "fun" as usual but instead very precise and great commentary so more professional in a sense, idk, i enjoyed it a lot even though it wasnt classic PJ softlock city :D
The removal of simulation part was so disappointing, the feeling of helping your flock and guiding them make this game lost the godly feeling I really hate it.
Run starts at 0:14.
Couch commentary is provided by Blechy, Klaige and Mecha Richter.
Feasel interviews PJ at 58:33.
Host is LLK.
FIRST I LOVE GAMES DONE QUICK you guys rock I can speedrun this game too ^-^
I hope you all enjoy this run! ^_^
Cheers PJ you make it all look so easy :)

Fantastic run PJ. Great couch too. Someone hold me!!
This is one of my top five SNES game, and you're one of my favorite speedrunners. It's great you took to run this game this year at AGDQ!
Thanks again PJ, yet again you and your runs are fantastic :D
PJ is my favorite part of any AGDQ
I've watched a few of these speedruns by PJ and the motto for this *entire game*, not one stage or two, is: _"Everything is fine until it isn't."_
Also Blechy's commentary is always top-notch.
10:37 - 12:33 - 19:10 - 22:33 - 24:23 - 25:10 - 28:08 - 41:36 (42:30) - 43:21 [Final Boss]
And with this game nothing is ever fine. Thanks alot for the timestamps also.
WHOA! PJ with a great run and nothing blew up, broke, or softlocked!
Several SNESes in the Practice Room burst into flames and/or exploded during this run (probably).
One of the most knowledgeable couches ever. Blechy's info and delivery are top-notch.
This was a fantastic run tbf. An expert at a difficult game intelligently explaining how he was completing it. Great stuff.
blechy made for a spectacular commentator, and PJ as always delivered a great run. I'm looking forward to the mohawk and headphone jack run
These 2 guys are my favorite guys from agdq
i am just watching it and: definitely! though this years agdq had a lot of great runners and commentators, pj and blechy are my favorite ones i must say. both of them had the perfect mixture of skill, competence, eloquence and likeability
One of the best commentators I have seen on any GDQ!
Blechy is hands down my favorite commentator, the dude is knowledgeable and always has good info for everything going down, even has some jokes.
Blechy is the best gateway into understanding speedruns. I've learned so much whenever he commentates
I love it when Blechy is on the couch, best speedrun commentator ever!
That was a great run and wonderful commentary from the couch. Thanks for doing this guys!
Best commentary by far - I've watched a fair amount of these agdq videos and this guy on the couch was Great!
PJ runs is always my highlights every GDQ, and this run was really good. a lot of quick kills and impressive precision.
I played this as a kid, and never beat a single stage. This is mind-breaking to me.
the technical explanation in this video is awesome. not only do we know how we know why and even tips on input.. Fantastic!
Love PJ's runs. Had to rewatch here on YT :)
Great runner and great commentary. It was a joy to watch this brutal game get beaten.
PJ is my favorite speed runner and Blechy is my favorite commentator. Love this run
PJ and Blechy are the only thing i look forward to in AGDQs.
One of the best and challenging casual playthrough games ever created!
This was the first game ever to make me rage quit. Glad to see it owned.
Absolute killer run! Great info and above all such a great game!
So many instances of "Ok, this is a really difficult part.. What PJ has to do here is- Oh wow.."
Awesome run by PJ =D saw it on live
I agree. I didn’t like it as much because it wasn’t the first one but it was also because how brutal this game was. This guy is really good.
Always a pleasure to have your first exposure to a game be something someone else has known intimately their entire life.
I know I'm two years late but THANKS FOR THIS! Loved this game, at least in theory, because it was TOO DANG HARD for me. Like Weaponlord, I love the concept, the aesthetics, everything about it...I'm just awful at it and not the kind of player who enjoys "git gud" games.

afaik, there are mario, metroid and zelda level-editors. just imagine:A level/dungeon editor for actraiser I / II...(if technicaly possible)
I donated during this run!! Such an amazing run of such a difficult game!!!
Fond memories of playing this when I was 13. I only got to about 21:23 though.
Dude. Been so busy with work, didn't realize agdq started... And fuckin pj is the first run I see on UA-cam!?!?!? Ok, my night is finishing off right.
Dude Blechy (the commentator) is a god he is always so knowledgeable and eloquent i like him a lot and paired with one of my fav runs makes this just a gem to watch
The difficulty on this game was such a brick wall. I couldn't do it without a whole lot of save state cuz I'm bad. Great pro run! Very fun to watch.
Dammit I really wanted to attend this. Never been to a gdq event before and I coulda seen PJ run one of my favorite games that I haven't played in like 20 years!
PJ playing a serious game. Never thought I'd see the day
Dude makes it looks so easy. Actraiser 2's no joke.
Great job PJ, another solid run!
Nice commentary, nice runner.
Great couch commentary
It's interesting and funny that the couch is describing the boss fights slower than the actual fight. The player is that good. So cool.
Everybody needs a good hype man like the couch guy in their life!
I had taht game as a kid and i loved the style but damn... it was so hard. I never beated it completely.
12:23 "i am not manly enough..." haha I would love to be in the crowd to see the reaction to this commentary lol
Wow! What a run! I love the first Actraiser and can beat it on professional no problem, but I remember renting this one back in the day and couldn't get anywhere on it. Way to kick it's ass for me!
This game is so hard. I'm a little amazed.

my wish: a level editor, e.g. for zelda or mario...
I remember playing this game, I managed to finish this game in a SNES in the 90s when emulators didn't existed, finishing games at those times was a challenge, it was definitely one of the hardest game I played.
Awesome run btw.
Wholey Cattle dat 10K donation!
Also, thanks for SPANKING one of SNES's *notorious* Difficulty Demons, PJ!
This game gets a bad rap. Its really beautiful and is a solid all around platformer. Great run by PJ
What an epic game and run! I always wanted to like this game when I was younger. I loved the first ActRaiser. This game was way too hard! I might try to play through this game someday.
Blechy is such a good commentator, he pulls you in with his edge of the seat mindset!
Wow. Fantastic run.
I'm a simple guy. I see PJ, Klage and Mecha I click
The Master will live forever... *statue crumbles*
And the most ironic ending of any video game.
Never played this game but looks awesome to play
World: "Awful sequel!"
PJ: "I've been speedrunning this game for 9 years now."
That reminds me,there is a code where you use the Master from Actraiser 2 to fight the original Tanzra from the original Actraiser game.
Great Run!
Great run
I'll watch any run with PJ in it
This is my fav SNES game
awesome take back to my late childhood, would love to see some demon quest, both games always felt similar to me, back then any ways 😂
Can we agree a charity group gave 10,000 dollars during a run in a game about defeating sins is pretty cool? Charity will always beat greed!
Very technical game, good run
I loved the greed fight cuz no one said it was a dragon and when I saw it I was like "Ahhh it's a hoarding dragon. Very clever."
Hoo-wee, Instant Karma in Speedrunning! 12:20
The run is great, love PJ. That modero boss is horrific
"Meanwhile he's going to be wanting these bats to do as few fireballs as possible."
Ladies and gentlemen, video games.
Not one of the most fun PJ runs, but execution wise was pretty great! Good job as always PJ.
Not as "fun" as usual but instead very precise and great commentary so more professional in a sense, idk, i enjoyed it a lot even though it wasnt classic PJ softlock city :D
WoW can somebody say great couch!!
Commentary dream team?
Was never a big fan of this sequel. I liked the city planning aspect of the first one. Good run though gg
Same the first one wasn't impossible to beat for a mediocre player either.
same. the 1st one is such an unexpected gem not even the action felt the same when i finally got it
the character remembers me of a winged Völgar the viking
Man, Flat-Earthers must LOVE this game. 21:33 - I mean, it's religious, AND it features the Earth as a sphere in the boss fight against Deception?
Never got anywhere with this game lol awesome run
What a beautiful game. Always wanted to try it.
Man, I love Actraiser sound effects. I think I rented this game once and was turned off by the difficulty.
Looks like the green guy on the left is more interested in his phone than the game.
Well, if you read this Blechy, my goal is to get you on the show one day.
Fantastic run, PJ. Deathhime wasn't the kindest, but everything was super tight.
good stuff
This looks more like Demon's Crest than Actraiser
unless i missed my guess, this games seems easier to speedrun than it is to play it casually... which is to say is impossible for me to play.
I played this game when I was younger. The furthest I got was past the first level. That's all.
Graphics and overall design is fantastic but character movement is sooo slow.
Hardest game from my childhood. Never completed a single stage. lol
The Dark Souls of the 90s
Beat both/ good game..
17:47 I couldn't past this stage lol
The removal of simulation part was so disappointing, the feeling of helping your flock and guiding them make this game lost the godly feeling I really hate it.
Dat mode 7 though.
Wait... ActRaiser 2 has you challenge the 7 Sins? *Slowly pans to see a very angry Fury.*
