Jay_Cee is an awesome runner and a great guy. If you guys haven't watched his streams on twitch I'd suggest going there and checking them out. He should have a lot more subs. Hopefully he gets invited back to do more castlevania games.
Even though the RNG at the start wasn't in the runner's favor, I definitely appreciate runs like this more than those that start with a pass code in order to skip the initial grind.
. kinda back fired when he did his dad, i mean seriously. i would feel pretty stupid calling in and posing as his parent that died,. kinda not very smart
33:30 I feel for Jay-Cee. for my first 18th years of life I lived on a ranch. Don't get me wrong I love living rural but as someone who lives dang exclusive with the internet, ranch internet options were limited, slow and expensive.
I knew you could one-shot Death if you hit him with the last frame of the dagger, but I never knew why or that it worked with the holy water, too. Cool!
I don't get why this game has so much hatred when it was essentially the precursor to Castlevania symphony of the night in terms of gameplay mechanics.
Wait, you could kill Dracula just by throwing Holy Water on him twice from under the floor? :O And here I was, wasting time throwing Sacred Fire on him
This game is not as bad as people say. Beat it casually at around 4h. The only problem is that you absolutely need a walkthrough or guide, because otherwise the game is extremely obtuse. Other than that, it's alright. Definitely the worst Castlevania NES game, but I've played worse

Doodsf is the red t-shirt guy
I didn't know this beforehand, but the dude doing the run actually holds the current record with a time of 30:58. Crazy to watch.
It's cool that Alan Rickman's voice showed up to comment from the couch for this run.
Free Brain Surgery lol hilarious.
Free Brain Surgery I thought it was Brain. What are we going to do tonight Brain?
Free Brain Surgery haha I was just about to post the same comment
Vincent Price
I was wondering who that guy is, because there's a really funny sound in another Speedrunner's Twitch Chat that sounds exactly like him.
Love this speedrunner, seems like such a nice dude!
Great job! A very entertaining run, it's not an easy game for a marathon. I love the donations too!

His singing made me watch all his AGDQ runs and made me sub his twitch
I don't know who this runner is but man he's wholesome
it not only boost ya up
but it boost ya foward.
I love this man
I am glad people still play this game!
What a horrible night to have a curse...
But what a great night to watch some awesome speedruns!
wow! this is the absolute best run i've seen.
Awesome that Mr. Plinkett turned up for couch commentary.
This game is the most disappointing thing since my son (who is playing the game on-screen by the way)!
games done quick in 2x speed, is the real speedrun strat.
Unlucky RNG there, but great frame-perfect tricks.
I love how this guy narrates.
Im I the only one that just dont care about estimated time on the run? These speedruns are just so fun and amazing
Even though the RNG at the start wasn't in the runner's favor, I definitely appreciate runs like this more than those that start with a pass code in order to skip the initial grind.
The music in this game is great!
I'm going to call GDQ a Video Game Party from now on
Guy definently underestimated the bad RNG.
What a horrible night to have a curse :D
Good run, good commentary, good vibe; nevermind the bad RNG and the evil subpixies :P
9:40 I stood up out of my chair. that timing. goddamn!
Great run JC!
This was such an entertaining run, thanks for making me laugh!
The background walls in the towns have little chipmunk faces, cannot unsee!
What a horrible night to have bad RNG.
I'm just here for the music.
This is one of the best retro speed run videos on YT.
hey i love ur art
seems like such a great community and a super event!
My favorite NES Castlevania game, by far! Nice job
One of these events, I will go to AGDQ, can't believe I missed it this time, just when I finally had the time and money to go.
But don't rest on your laurels
Somebody tried to include his family at 9:50 and 27:23 :D (RIP to his father)
. kinda back fired when he did his dad, i mean seriously. i would feel pretty stupid calling in and posing as his parent that died,. kinda not very smart

Jc583 should be on the radio.
I knew you could one-shot Death if you hit him with the last frame of the dagger, but I never knew why or that it worked with the holy water, too. Cool!
I enjoy Jay Cee on Twitch! Unfortunately it's a marathon run and he can't reset.
epic troll by his mom.
AJCQ 2019 was awesome!
This was the one game i had when I was a kid.
I remember...............the horror.
How did he perform the first floor drop?
~Barkerville~
~clarinet~
Holy shit, the hours I spent trying to get over that wall as a kid and it did exactly what my 10 year old brain thought it would.
Love it! Such a positive people!
I don't get why this game has so much hatred when it was essentially the precursor to Castlevania symphony of the night in terms of gameplay mechanics.
Because the concept was very good but the execusion was bad.
The "hearts as currency" gimmick was first used in Kid Icarus.
I wonder if the extra digit is because the NES version couldn't afford another byte for heart storage as compared to the Famicom.
Bloody Tears is now the Doo Dee Doo song.
Ive only played Simons Quest until I got a GBA and a DS then I tried the Metroidvania games. I could never get the Simon Quests good ending though.
Mah man!
Holy Water...Who Knew!
How would you like your oak stake sir? Medium rare please
HEH!! HEH!! HEH!!
Why no flaming whip?
10:00 Master Troll
Wait, you could kill Dracula just by throwing Holy Water on him twice from under the floor? :O
And here I was, wasting time throwing Sacred Fire on him
Hype
The movement in this game irritated tf out of me lol. I've seen better auto scrollers
What. A. God.
Barkerville
Jay_Cee's Mom?
As a famous nerd once said about Castlevania 2:
"This game sucks"
27:30 Big oof
what the heck is rng?
It stands for "Random Number Generator", It's used as an offhand way to refer to any aspect of a game that is chance/luck based.
Jay sounds like SwaggerSouls

Hey it's that Castlevania game everyone hates on too much because of poor translations and AVGN.
What a horrible run to have a curse
He sounds like Troy McClure
I came 2 this and I don't understand the purpose is it just to see tricks
I'm surprised someone runs this game. It isn't a game, but rather the idea of a game! Cool run though!
Jay-cee and Beyon-say
AVGN's game sucks, but music is excellent
Simon's quest worst castlevania
I dunno man. you played any of the game boy ones? :D
I saw this run just to see if this game is worth playing, it definitely not.
Get your eyes checked. This game is great.
Its cryptic but i like it. Its just chill adventure side scroller!
Yikes
1988. good year.
Edit, here is a vampire joke for you; what does a vampire say to the waiter when his food arrives?
Fang you very much!
This joke is so old it makes it feel like the game came out in 2018 with loot boxes.
