- I wanted to create the Red Bottom Air Force 1 for NYE! I added fine glitter to give it a luxurious POP to sparkle whenever there is bright light! Never use mod podge bc if it rain, thats going to mess up the glitter. I use light even coats of E6000 glue. That way if it rain, the glitter is not coming lose. Just some e tra tips

Yo bro check out "Liquid Kicks" (Scratch Protection) and use that on your shoe soles to keep your red bottoms from coming off. Nice custom work though!

bro i don’t know but i think u can use clear sole protectors so that the paint doesn’t come off
I am sure you can too but it still doesn’t keep the paint on because there is so much friction. If you know of some that doesn’t come off and stays clear when applied, please give me the sauce! 🤩 @Astronautkid
Maybe a couple thin spray coats of clear flex seal. The flex leaves a rubberized coating and probably can be cleaned and touched up as needed, potentially keeping the red pristine looking 🤔
That may work for the red bottoms. I’ve never tried. I just use clear sole protectors.

They sell paint made for the bottoms, same brand as the paint you using now. Never used it but I was gonna check it out

I seen some people paint the bottoms and immediately thought NO lol it does look dope but sucks when you're walking and it comes off. I wish they had paint for soles but nothing has come to light just yet. The only thing I can say to use to help even more are sole protectors. Other than that dope custom 💯

You can indeed use a paint brush to paint the red bottom! I just feel like the airbrush is more efficient.

How durable is the glitter? Do you have a problem with glitter shedding and/or cracking?
It’s durable…for light walking…but I would do it a little different next time and only apply 1 or 2 layers. Overtime, when doing big city walking, I did get some cracking and flaking. The initial coat stayed perfect though, which lets me know that the extra costs aren’t really needed.

Do u have to sand the shoe down? How do u know when u sanded too much or too little??
First, acetone the shoe to get the factory finish off. You don't have to sand the shoe but I sand the shoe because the sanding removes more paint and it creates abrasion on the surface of the shoe for the new paint to stick to. You can sand as long as you need to, just don't go overboard and damage the shoe. Once you start to see scuffs on the shoe you're most likely good to go in that spot. You've gone too far if you start to see leather peel. lol

Whats the thing u used for the end of the laces? The tool u used?
It's called an "Aglet tool". It installs the metal lace tips for the shoe laces, or hoodie draw strings.

What setting did you use for the grommet tool?
My grommet tool is on setting. It’s 3/16 of an inch. So first I used punch pliers to make the eyelet hole big enough, then, came back with the grommet tool to install the gold grommets.
Do really need the 2hard paint ??
It’s recommended, I wouldn’t say it’s needed.
Which spray you are using??

You did a great job but y'all doing to much. You making your work harder by sanding your sneakers. The sneakers don't have to be sand down but i do use acetone to take the factory finish coat off and thats all you have to do. Also, press your glitter into your glue. Take a paint brush to knock off or brush the excess glitter each time you put a layer of glitter. Once finished and glitter is dried, then take a toothbrush and brush off the excess glitter. Do not spray a sealer bc it takes away the shine or sparkling away. Just some tips to help you along the way.

I just finished a custom with the angelus glitterlites, its not as prominent in glitter, but i think using it as the base instead of modge podge can work and tyen adding the glitter on top.

I use it as a base, then pour extra fine glitter on top. Glitterlites isn't as sparkling.

Yes. The sealer is needed.

They red bottom is gonna fade.
Eventually, just like any other sneaker. The sole protector keeps the color a lot nicer longer

This video was hard to watch. No idea how to use an airbrush. And WHY IN THE HELL did you use a silicone sculpting tool to apply the mod podge?

Thanks for your comment. If you feel like you can do a better job the first time you make some, then feel free to make a video and show the world how. I used a silicone brush because at the time of making this video I didn’t have any bristle brushes on hand. Again, if you feel like you know how to yield an airbrush, make a video and show the world how with your expertise. Otherwise, 🤐. To this day, this is one of my most watched AND liked videos on my channel. Would I do a lot of things different a second time around? Yes. But that’s the whole point of learning and growing. Maybe you should try it. Any shoe that has a painted bottom will eventually wear off the first time you wear them…that’s why sole protectors were invented. Watch the next video and learn how to apply those. Nobody forced you to come to the channel and watch, but I appreciate the watch time hours you gave me. 😃

I can handle constructive criticism. The community is about learning and building. I put out a video to help people. You didn’t like it. You came with energy that didn’t match the video or channel, asked questions and I still answered them. Your critique gave no value to me or anyone who read your comment. So to help my viewers I suggested that you show me how to yield an airbrush if I have no idea how to, I answered your question on why I used a sculpting tool, and educated you about Sole protectors to keep paint from wearing away and suggested you watch my video on that. Seems like a good response to your critique to me. Sounds like you need to be willing to accept the return of what you dish out if you’re going to be critical. 😃
