- Xiaomi today teased a video showcasing their "Mi Air Charge" technology. They showcased proof of work that they have managed to get 5Watts over-the-air charging functioning. This raises a lot of questions... Is it production ready? Is it safe? When can we expect this to be in our homes?
As it seems that Xiaomi loves to tease new and innovative technology, chances are not very high we will see this be production-ready in the next few months. (Think of the video showcasing the under-display-camera working, over a year ago...) But hopefully we could see technology like this in the next year or two. I am ready for it!

where are the "What is Xiaomi doing" videos!
Does Nicolos tesla sounds familiar? 🙌
Let's hope we don't get fried eggs when not having breakfast!
If the charging idea doesn't sell they could sell it as wireless birth control.
I would totally use it :v
better take your pants
Your hand gestures and body language reminds me of MKBHD. :) Keep up the good work. Liking the new change on your reviews
In the future this would probably be a fixture you just hide in your ceiling.
thats a genius idea
and I would rent the room right on top of yours for free electricity.
@@ChibiKeruchan I doubt the charging "beam" would pass through solid objects like walls and ceilings. 5W is hardly anything, but enough for wearables and other low power devices. For me I would put it on a smart light switch, it will be always powered without having to run more wires.
@@ChibiKeruchan You can't charge for free, you need to pair your devices so they can be tracked in the room.
@@Avantime regardless, should be easily avoidable by using a layer of reflective foil to reflect the wave. viola, the person above can't steal your electricity.
nice to see your face this time, great vlogs as to be expected always informative.
That intro , is just dope!
I wouldn't want to early adopt something like this before the health consequences are fully researched :) But it's definitely cool technology. It's pretty big but the design is cool and it looks like it would double as a sidetable so as long as it fits your interior styling that wouldn't be too big of an issue.
I don't think it would harm us if the charger are using radiowave or magnetic wave or both. If their using other than both of that, it might harm us in a long term. But I could be wrong in this.
I had this technology on my android phone way before. It indicates charging while it was not connected to charger at all. But the battery percentage went down. Still an innovation
Keep up man
Love your attitude
It's gonna be great when released
Amazing technology by Xiaomi
It whould be nice if they get this to work. Not just for phones. But also wirless headphones, laptops, mice, keyboards
Thanks man 👍
wow , amazing technology by Xiaomi 😍😍😍
It will only fry your brain!
Yes and it might give out radioactive chemicals waves
I wonder what the efficiency of this would be...
I also wonder if it'd work when the phone doesn't have the back if it aimed at the transmitter.
Cute Intro😂
Notice me please, im a big fan of your channel💓
I really admire your passion. ❤️😍
true
why ? you have some sense of attraction or is this just some compassion used as a distraction to increase more traction to get a lot of comment reaction ?
you got 7 'likes' right now, I hope that it gives you some satisfaction.
Tell us more about your watch :D, doesnt look like something from xiami ;D
Xiaomi no.1
It will take a hell long time to charge the phone cell if you do the math. Radio waves energy attenuate exponentially over the air. By the time the 5w energy reaches the phone coils, probably only left less than 1W
"let's go" 🤙
I don't understand how can you dislike this video?
Im worried about the extra radio waves in the air, and what effect is has on a person body - cancer?
Hope Xiaomi does it right and make an industry wide standard instead of a proprietary standard.
hmmm... for starter that would be great to power wireless keyboard, headset and mouse.
How it affect health, coz 5w energy passes as radio/em waves
It Beamforms, so the system will directly target the phone.
Suitable for the family....
Wireless everything
Oppo has been teasing so many things from the last 2 to 3 years, but none of them have come to market yet! For example- 120 watt charging, true under display camera, true waterfall display, folding phone, rollable phone, etc.
Mi smart clock (global version of xiaomi ai touch screen bluetooth speaker) next review sir.
one day , we can ask or send for battery bars through social media
You can also do that by rigging your microwave oven and turning it on. 😁
It’s not the same
@@Tony-ju4hl It is. Try it, you'll be amazed.
You try first.
Nice
Imagine in 7 years when this technology matures to the point we can wirelessly charge heavier devices such as TVs, laptops, and game consoles. Imagine no more plugging in those devices in a wall because this technology is strong enough to power it when you need too.
Not going to happen due to the radio strength required, it would not pass certification. Only low powered devices like wearables need apply for this tech.
@@Avantime not really, imagine terahertz range it could pack much more power while within the safety regulation
this is not going to happen any time soon, only a dumb ass would think every devices will be powered wirelessly. wireless power is very, very power inefficient. there are only low power consumption devices can be powered this way. those bigger, non-portable and/or high power consumption devices are not going to be powered/charged this way. for instance, game consoles are definitely not going to be powered this way, ps5 during gaming can consume about 200W... in order to power it, you will need a huge emitter tower in the middle of your room. also, in order to capture 200W you also need a huge receiver and not to mention a lot of the power conversion will be wasted in the form of heat, you will also have to deal with heating issues.
@@evertchin Lol nah I did not say "I think" it would happen. I just trying to state how cool it would be if that's what the future brings.
The tech is interesting but phones, to me, really do pretty well without this tech. Laptops, on the other hand would be interesting. Or like wireless smoke detectors. Remote controls. House security cameras. Anything that would be easier to charge thru such a device as to avoid wires or changing batteries.
Yep there are so many things not consuming much energy but need to be wired or batteried. I wouldn't worry about phones either.
i think it sends electromagnetic wave. the principle is electro-magnetic induction. that idea comes from nikola tesla. his wise is to create one can offer eletricity for entire city.
Proost to Xiaomify.
they finally cracked witricity?? awesome!
This technology exists for decades, never come to market (and never will) because you have 98% off energy lost (on the best scenario) thanks to the laws of physics, is simply a market stunt to impress idiots
This charging way is what Nikola Tesla always dreamed of
sometimes companies like to talk about a technology that they don't have but will get publicity for. because for a company any media coverage is good coverage! even if it's false claims!
Xiaomi smart wireless brain cooker? I'll probably stick to good old wires ..
@@gabrielmoro3d Pardon?
@@gabrielmoro3d if someone wants to cook their brain by sticking wires in their ears we probably should let them.
I would rather invest in rnd inceasing battery performance
Not against 5G, but here is more powerful then 5G radio wave beaming to the person holding in hands the compatible phone. I would probably choose to lose convenience instead of being microwaved. And with a 5W to charge bit battery would take forever, this means being microwaved for a long time
500 watts becomes 5 watts. Efficient indeed ;)
I don't think it will come before 5 years.
For a split second I thought Corey Taylor was being electrocuted 😂
Perhaps it is one MORE reason for the new phones to come without charger. The demand for this product is already being produced.
Soon all electrical appliances will be using this no more wall plugs and wires... Those companies producing plugs and wires will be out or low of biz
Sounds to be a rad idea
good on you Chinese company hopefully you can keep the big papa hands off your stuff if not I have my ways regardless
If people already complain about 5G, imagine the conspiracy theories they'll come up with for this. lmao
With japan moving Gundam and xiaomi True wirless charging....
All i can say is...long live the leberation
Tesla would be so proud
The background music gets old after 2 minutes
even if it was big as a dresser I would still rather that then have to plug in or place down my phone.
With others doing zero innovations ; they are doing what we ask for
If something sounds too good to be.......
*There might be some health risks of transmission of energy through air or May be side effect on human body* .
I Guess Xiaomi's Air Charging Technology Will Be Introduced On Mi 11 Pro As It's Gonna Have To Be More OP Than Mi 11
At 5 Watts my current S10 plus would still drain it's battery 😁
The concept is here though. It's definitely gonna improve if they keep at it. You can't lie that it's cool
Is it safe? Nah never mind it's cool.
It's needs a fuck ton of development and testing , the amount of millimeter waves needed to charge a battery is huge...and that can easily cause cancer
We NEED Xiaomi
They seem to be the only company to really be interested in pushing innovation
impressive that your mi smartwatch, mi earpods,mi speaker, android phone charging when you enter your room without effort of charging the gudgets. the apple company in near future will be lost in market overprice gudgets . hit my like button below
Wait for your bill.
Isn't it a bad thing if the current will be in the air? Anyone can suffer health problems because of this. Current in the air would obviously spoil oxygen purity as well
The world is about to end

Tesla technology decoded
Did you just take an LTT thumbnail for this?
its nikola tesla technology wireless transmitting, 1890 year, nothing new realy :)
The problem is HOW TO MAKE IT instead of HOW IT WORK,just like everyone know how nuclear bomb work if they graduate from high school but fewer countries can actually build it
Xiaomi: We're making dreams come true, breaking stereotypes and myths
Nicolas tesla's dream came true
The technology has been shown off at trade shows for over a decade...
Fuck the wireless charging. Just skip to wireless electricity.
very old technical
i aint gonna let them chinese putting their gigahertzes in my body
Not a thing.
Invent the clunky new technology
then improve it over time
There was square and rectangle at some point of humanity
And they realized round is better
Cancer: may i come in!!
Why cancer?every hot object in this world have radiation, don’t use phone tv or eat food if u think 5w is enough to cancer.
@@Tony-ju4hl 5w is only the received power. The emitted power would be at least 500w if it's super effective. Probably closer to 800-1000w
Sounds like a big cancer hazard to me
Cancer joined the chat.
cancer?
Tesla, you there?
Will we get cancer becoz of this
No, millimeter waves are not even close to cause ionization.
@@Oblivion1407 sounds like ionization to me
@@DavidJJJ it is known that only UVC light that can break your DNA, which has higher frequency than visible light, which the visible light has higher frequency than the millimeter wave. If you can’t get cancer from visible light spectrum you can’t get cancer from millimeter waves.
Fried eggs, fried eggs, man! 😂
You can also get skin cancer by having contact with UV light from the Sun
Stay at home.
Xiaomi is banned in USA... 😂😂😂
