    It feels so good to have moisturized clean hair that can grow and get plenty of sun water and air! I been wearing a simple moisturized Afro and it looks kept and presentable making my confidence go higher, I get more positive attention than the wigs! Our hair matches us and grows out , big and beautiful, It’s unique and makes us stand out. Also it grow faster when it can breath & be pampered 0 breakage very little shedding. My only wish is I would have did this many years ago and never turned back to extensions and wigs.

    I’m realizing this message is only for the few who will listen. Many will continue this, to the detriment of not only the physical consequences to the hair and scalp, but also the psychological consequences to how they view their own beauty. To think that you need a wig or attachments to protect your own hair, is thinking that the protective style itself is still not beautiful. We can make twists, plaits, corn rows with our own hair beautiful!!! We just have to manage it. We can’t leave it for weeks without redoing. But the ladies don’t want to hear that. When you suggest to just wear a cute scarf or head wrap, that’s still not enough. The problem runs DEEP. It’s heartbreaking, but it’s true. Beautiful, intelligent women with a head full of hair will still throw on a wig or attachments, even after finding that the chemicals in the fake hair are harmful. My best friend from high school did this and I never understood it. This is purely a spiritual issue. Jesus said let them that have ears hear. But we already know that there will only be a few. God bless you Sis. Keep encouraging the few that will hear. 💕

      I totally get what you mean! But do you think there's a problem if i wear an afro wig because I have on 3 month old conrows underneath? This isn't necessarily a hatred for conrows but rather it looks untidy after 3 months 🤔

    • @A_Wilson
      @A_Wilson Місяць тому +1

      @Foxx-fj7wk Sis, I’d recommend just redoing your cornrows when they start to look untidy. Or wear a beautiful scarf or head wrap. I wear flat twists that turn to plaits in the front and just plaits in the back. I redo them every 3 weeks. This keeps them looking neat, as well as just setting aside time to love on my strands. 🥰 But ultimately we have to do what suits us. I just know the more comfortable we are wearing out protective styles, the more we and others get accustomed to them. Our hair will thrive, our daughters wil love their own kinks, and we can display our crowns in all their glory when we take them out on occasion. It’s a win/win/win all around. ☺️ That's just my perspective. 💕💙

    I totally agree with you ma! Wigs and extensions are the reason black women cannot grow their hair, period! Most of us just don’t care about our hair but crave for long healthy hair yet we see people who invest time and resources to grow long and healthy hair and call them liars or give credit their their genes. Glad I’m not the only one who thinks hair stylists don’t give a damn about the hair that grows out of your scalp. It’s just about installing beautiful wig or weaves that appeal to you and others so they get more customers and make more money at the expense of your hair. They don’t care if that braid will cause you to lose hair, so far as it’s nice, they will make it! Before I went natural almost 3 yrs ago, I had 20 inches relaxed hair, did my own relaxing and washing, moisturizing and sealing and would go get braids once in a while. Had a very bad cut from the stylist in the name of trimming stray hair and making the braids neat. So many stands were cut and I had to cut about 10 inches off my hair to even it out. It was a really painful experience and I cried so much. I eventually made that big decision to go natural and care for my hair by myself at that has been my best decision ever. People don’t believe my natural hair is just 2yrs 8 months old. Like, no one is touching my hair anymore 😅

      GIRI ,I agree with you..I been stopped messing with stylist ,some really don't care about your hair.This has been a long journey for us Black women, we are just really learning how to care for our on hair ,and so we should. It takes time ,it's so much to learn. I didn't know what to do or what to use ,how often to use or how often to wash,you know what mean .I was so confused 😕, but I did my homework, and and didn't give up.I also did the big cut ,and now I'm 22 ins and growing, because I didn't gave up,but I wanted to sometimes. I will never go to another stylist again. I do my own natural hair and it’s thriving. I have been to a dermatologist and trichologist. The dermatologist gave me ointment for my scalp but said it was a chance my hair may not grow back in that spot. The trichologist said, she had a treatment plan, but it would cost me $3,000 and something. I started researching hair loss and have been using herbal powders and herbal teas rinses. I do see some results. I do wear wigs to church. I hate to wear wigs, but because of the bald spots I have know choice. This honestly speaking is more prevalent among Africans, than AA.
    _Hair care_ is a low priority also because of *lack of knowledge*
    AA are much more on it. There is a day and night difference.

    I'm natural but I didn't know how to take care of my hair... My hair was permed at the age of 12! My hair Never came back to the healthy hair I had, when I was a child, I'm very regretful of allowing a perm to TOUCH my hair! My hair is very dry, brittle, and breaking all the time... I've been conditioning after shampoos and oiling my scalp with olive/ rosemary oil! I use a moisturizing cream after oiling but my hair becomes stiff, I've stopped that combo!😏 the front has broken off from pulling back, I've stopped that too, I sometimes put my hair in two cornrows or a fro... I pay zero attention to what others think! It saddens me to see african american women struggling so much with their hair, going bald, traction alopecia etc... Unfortunately it's what were told to us, that our natural hair is ugly but I've Never believed that for a second! Black women have beautiful hair! Your daughters hair is just as beautiful! Thank you so much for caring for your sisters!😊💖

      I don't... however my hair is styled I just wear a satin bonnet or a silk scarf at night that's it. Except if I wore my hair loose for the day..then I have to wrap it or put it in a bun and then wear my bonnet or scarf.
