Spraying a Lace Pattern Paint Job

- Fred painted Auriel's Miata a few weeks back but the hardtop was still in primer. The top got special treatment when Fred sprayed a white pearl basecoat then laid a lace pattern cloth over it for a super clean custom paint job. Fred shows you the steps he took to complete the job.

I did this my self in the 70s when i was a kid ,id never seen it don before. I just liked the pattern our old lace curtains so i put it on my racer bike and spraid over it and couldn't believe it printed the pattern .it was a bit messy at first, but after a few goes i got it right ,and did the whole frame and people did compliment me on it ..I was only in the last 20 years iv seen it don on cars
It looked far better than I imagined it would and the fade was impressive!
Blown away by the end result. The simple idea is so hidden by the myriad layers of virtuosity that without seeing this, the average observer would have no clue as to how this was done. Nice work and explanation, Fred!
WOW!!!
Good thing it’s a Miata hardtop so everyone can see it. Even those who are vertically challenged. It is one slick look that everyone should be able to admire.
WTF..... But seeing the finished job it looks awesome. Thanks for walking us thru it. Seeing is believing. 💯👍
Amazing
I Always wanted a lace scheme like this. I think i do it on my s13 🤙🏻
That came out amazing. Honestly bever heard of it beforehand. I like it
Fred's a pro!! Love it!
Great video
Glad you enjoyed it
WOW!! 😍
Nice job thank you for sharing
I've seen it but never knew how it was done. Thanks for showing how. Looks good too. Like that blue.
Awesome color great job with the lace
Thanks for watching
Cool, Fred! Thanks man!
Amazing tutorial, doing this with black and chrome in my gti mirrors tomorrow!
so siiiiiiiiiiiiiic! sare n tuned brought me here
Damn!! Fred showing those skills!!
I'm guessing he's pretty humble about said skills, always fun to watch these processes, look forward to seeing y'all on Satuhday.😁
Yeah, he’s definitely humble
Thanks bro. Just great.
That looks really cool
Nest way to lay lace patterns down is to use 3M 77 spray adhesive.... Just a super light coat to make it tacky... Im currently doing a 95 Cadillac Fleetwood brougham lowrider and im going complete overkill with about 7 different lace patterns and different shades of color so it will be absolutely beautiful and totally ridiculous. Just how we like it lol 😂😂😂
Love the lace look!
love it 👍🏼
That came out sick !!
That was cool. 👍🏻
Wow that’s beautiful
Nice
👍👌👏 Simply fantastic! Extremely beautiful! Congrats!
Nice application skills, steady motions and perfect triggering!
You made that look way too easy! Great job.
Tight! Like the good stuff!
So sick
Pretty awesome! Hell, I'd drive that car. Astounding how (relatively) simple that was. 👍
Cool. Like the other two miatas I've seen with lace painted rooves. Trendy
Thinking about doing this to my Monte Carlo and stumbled on your video, that paint job was amazing, would like to ask you more questions on what i would need to to if it’s already painted , and wanted to add a lace job on the paint job it already has
Clean the of hood of any wax with wax and grease remover or if you have a ceramic coating you need to be sure that coating is removed. Sand the hood with 800 grit, then follow the procedure that Fred did in the video. Let us know how it goes 👍
Yeah. Just holy $hit man. Not my thing, but would be if i had your talent.
That came out really nice... much nicer that I would have expected. Great work.
Thank you very much!
Look's sweet.
Sick ass intro for the channel!
first 10 seconds got me, SOLD lmao 0:26
Cool
That looks awesome love those kinds of paint jobs what gun were you using
Very Nice Im going to try lace this project im on...what color is that? Regards
is that carpet on the paint booth floor
can you do a lace pattern that isn't held down by gravity like the side of the car or even a recessed side?
It’s best to lay any panel flat but there’s definitely ways to do it.
What is the color code for this blue ?
It’s called bikini off the 2020 jeep’s I don’t remember the code
Shorten up the ten minute intro. Less is more.
