We have a bloke in preston, the other drivers call him 'day rider' he religiously buys a day ticket every day & just hops from bus to bus, he will never stay in unless all buses are stopped!👍
I've stopped doing it now. #staysafe #stayhome
It's mad aint it. I can see why some older people do go out as its their routine but I wish they would just stay at home so that I can see them everyday once this has all blown over! Bless them xo
I'm retired MTA NYC driver and you running late for work made me laugh.
I was also what we would call a "minute man".
An empty bus is a fast bus.

always good to know that I am not the only one driving alone. they stopped with paying of cash and our passengers goes in by the rear door and the seats nearest to the bus driver are sealed off.
passenger numbers have gone down in average its about 8-10 passengeres a shift for me.
I usally run between vejle and billund airport in denmark but that route is completly dead with no flights and legoland billund closed.
but yeah bus run every half hour......and I get paid.

Had to say this; love how the old London Fleet number is left on 835! Would like to hope that stays there for good lol. It's a real shame people didn't take the lockdown seriously at first. Here in Macclesfield it's been dead since day 2 of lockdown (the Wednesday) so I reckon they just needed a day to realise the seriousness
I can say now that more and more people have listened to the government guidelines and are now taking this seriously. its only the few who are ruining it for the many! Hope you're well and staying safe

Hi ask u 1 question please I have passed bus licence with private company and go ahead London tok my driver assessment and madical all ok khow my indection day in 2 weeks please can u tell me what is indection means please and what will happen in indection day and after induction complete thanks alot
more more more i am a new PCV holder can u do an introduction about driving a bus and tips and advice when being instructed and asked questions at the same time etc how to keep yourself under control and not get distracted etc ( note, im under driver training at work )

At least you don't pick up homeless people. Here in Los Angeles, we pick up anyone/everyone because now the fare is free. And it's all rear door boarding.
I honestly don’t mind anyone riding round with me to keep warm, a few years back we had a gentleman who would ride around on the Freetown bus all day just to keep warm so I used to go get him a coffee from the canteen. It’s the little things in life we all take for granted. Everyone need help at some point and I’m glad I can help people 🚌

Very nice video. In New York, they chained off the front of the buses, and you must enter through the back door. Fare is currently free on local routes.

To me, a Lowlander is a 1964 Albion LR1 probably the noisiest cab on the planet. Serious question, what's it like driving in rubber gloves? I hate the damn things as they make my hands sweat.
2 sides to the lockdown, firstly, no traffic, roadworks cancelled and its very very quiet...... Secondly, I'm finding I have to leave terminus late, otherwise I'm waiting for ages at each timing point. Fingers crossed, bus companies will survive the massive loss of revenue when this awful situation is over.
I have same problem with the top deck.

Didn't notice this vid went up before today, but better late than never! Great vid as usual mate, even more so that your doing this while risking your health. Wish all Arriva drivers were as outgoing and chirpy as you haha. Thanks for your dedication to the public transport sector and to UA-cam. Stay safe, hopefully it'll be over soon!
P.S Those Ticketer machines are new aren't they? I notice they're not across the full fleet yet :)
Speaking of clean buses. The buses buses where I live are ALWAYS full of rubbish honestly it's very rare to see a clean and tidy bus in my area I even found someone's bank card on the bus once but being a nice citizen I picked it up kept hold of it until I got to my destination and gave it to the driver so the company could keep it safe
I miss good old England. You guys were an absolute essential to me back when I lived there, being visually impaired. Trains too. Vicarious thanks & admiration from South Africa.

Well done mate I drove buses for a number of years and always felt we were over looked in comparison to train drivers. I sat my test in a crash gear box Leyland leopard no power steering, central smt had loads of them most were manual . Stay safe big man🏴🇬🇧

Great video mate. Really interesting to see it in a bus driver's perspective! The public never what bus drivers do for the public and I feel like bus drivers don't get the recognition they deserve! Keep up the good work pal! 1602 is an interesting bus, came from Arriva I believe as well! I don't really like the lowlanders to be honest, I much prefer enviros and Olympus. I'd take an enviro any day over any bus, Im a big fan of ADL.
A lot of the time is a 'forgotten Job' but I'm glad that people are seeing the hard work the transport industry put in to keep the country moving. Thank you for the sub! hope to see you comment on more stuff in the future :) Stay safe and take care : )
I'll tell you a "forgotten Job" that's unappreciated probably the most unappreciated job you can get today. Engineering, there wouldn't be any buses, trains, planes, cars electricity phones etc without engineers. Engineering is a difficult field, lots of mathematics lots of science plus a lot of responsibility when designing safety critical systems. Practically all technology is designed by engineers yet the profession is held in such low regard any unskilled Tom Dick or Harry can call themselves an engineer, a toilet cleaner at mcdonalds can call themselves an engineer "sanitation engineer" what a joke.
@@bobbyrayofthefamilysmith24 That's the 21st Century for you! People use fancy words in their job title to make their job sound more important. Only the best of engineers get the higher wages though, and you seem like of of them :)

If you could it'd be good to see you put together a video on the enhanced cleaning procedures - I saw you had one before when you cleaned one of the buses out before pandemic - am curious to know what company are doing to keep stuff clean.
great to see you still playing an important part in all of this, thank you. I am in the middle of making a bus for my game which based around yorkshire tiger (aka apsley tiger) which is the Dennis dart, and the E200 MMC, which includes the E400 MMC. At the moment I am the recovery driver for the 9 goes to whitburn and back to bus station as the Lowlander has broken down, the lowlander cut off halfway through and couldnt switch back on (could be the starter motor or the battery is flat)

I always spot something others do not. Misaligned headlight, semi0functioning door button, a gap through the steering column to the road, veering to the left when on a flat straight road.
I do wonder if they are surprised I could spot those things.
Tried an emergency escape window to ensure it opens. Closed it once before, next time - very difficult. Engineering used the "heavy persuasion" method. I just didn't want to be responsible for breaking it.

😂😂😂 Part of my route is to go to Manchester airport on NatEx and it's like a ghost town not 1 person in sight go to Manchester you see loads of people.
Both ends of my route last night - no-one there and I just have a huge layover of 25 minutes either end. I deliberately set off late, but forgot I still need to pop into two supermarkets as they're not listed but a message comes through saying to do so and I think ONE person go off. It messed up my GPS unit and assumed I was on an earlier route and announced, "The next stop is, the one we came from" So I stopped and sorted it out. Ended up being 10 minutes late WITH layover remaining. Even speeding up and my due time just carried on climbing. Am I supposed to be speeding here?
