This is the type of video everyone who is traveling to Istanbul needs to watch, especially if you are in transit and flying to another destination. Thank you for this it's been very helpful for me.
Dear Justin, you have no idea how I thanked you when I was completing my transit procedures at Istanbul Airport towards Munich, and also when I missed my return flight to Muscat. As a result of watching your distinguished clips, I saved myself and my family from falling into problems that were beyond the calculations. You have great thanks and appreciation from me and my family, and I hope that you will visit us in Oman.
Hi, i hope you are doing well, i am also going to Munich from Pakistan can you please tell me about this video 05:15 how will i check my departure gate on that huge screen? According to flight number on my boarding pass? Or what? Please help. Also, i want to ask how will i get to know about from which gate i have arrived like if iss F D A C or E?
Very nice video. Thanks for posting this guide. The airport is huge but connection is straightforward. It's a regular walk. Stress of missing your connecting flight makes the walk seems longer and endless. We have a connecting flight next month from International to domestic terminal with same Turkish Airlines but we have separate tickets. We have almost 7 hours layover so I'm sure there will be no problem. I have seen and experienced worst transfers at several airports.
Thank you for helping me. Because of you, I already know the layout of Istanbul Airport in just 5 hours. I have a flight near this Christmas via IST and this video was really helpful.
Great job..I thank you very much for this explanation, which will make traveling through Istanbul Airport fun, easy and without stress for many people..
Thank you, question I’ve had a knee replacement and walking quickly is impossible I have 60 minutes from arrival from nyc to TLV (Turkish airlines) is there assistance available for me on a golf cart
@@jeannespillers1132 when you book you have an assistance section tick it that you need assistance and when you are checking in online also make sure it's ticked and again in the airport when you are checking your luggage or getting your ticket make sure to ask them to have someone picking you up from the airplane
Fantastic job on this and all your videos! This one is so very valuable. I am able to evaluate with reasonable precision in real time how long a transit will be from a certain arrival gate to a certain departure gate. This was so important! Happy to be a subscriber! Great job!!
Thank you very much :) Its a big airport, and so far my longest transit walk was 40 minutes, and my shortest was done under 10 minutes :) So the arrival and departure gate plays a big role here :)
Hi, Justin, thanks so much for this very informative video. I have one little question: can you go with water through the security check in transit? Thank you so much! Best regards, Silvia
Am flying on 3rd march to newyork via istanbul. Its my 1st time by turkish airways. Thanx for this video now i got full idea to go to d transit terminal. Justwant to kno if d food courts accept US$ in payment for food???
Hi Justin, great video! I have a layover of 1 hour and 45 minutes from New Delhi to Berlin at Istanbul. I hope that is enough time to make the transfer. Any tips to speed up the process? Are there buggys or something available too. Thank you :)
Hi Madhvi, and thank you :) Yes, if no delays or other problems, 1 hour 45 minutes will be enough time to make the transfer. Yes, there are Buggy Service at Istanbul Airport, its not available for arrival, only departure. I made a video about that, you can see the video here : ua-cam.com/video/CdKGVRnOHHM/v-deo.html
GUYS HELP me please. I have a transit of 5.5 hours and I was planning on meeting someone in Turkey there during my transit. So during that transit I’m planning to go outside of the airport. Is this possible? (I’m not talking about a visa, I have a Turkish ID alr, but rules, regulation and time-wise? And how much time do you think I need, to go to my transfer second flight all the way outside from the airport. How many hours is enough do you think?
Ty for the video sir. I Will fly to moscow as a final destination, so what i have to do please? I have to go first to international transfer to get a boarding pass then security control? And when and where i have to check in again? Ty so much for ur time sir
They will normally issue a boarding pass to your final destination at your first check-in, if they don't do that, you will find servicedesk just before the security control. After Security control you just follow the signs to your gate. Look at the big screen monitor when coming up the escalator from the security area.
I have a long transit time and arrive in the night so want go from arrival gate to departure, and stay at the airline lounge a couple of hours. How can go to arrival again from airline lounge departure area to go into town?
That is possible, but I cant explain how to do it, its to difficult, so I will recommend to ask the Airport Staff. They will help you and guide you to the Arrival area again. You will need to go through the passport control to exit the airport.
For any transit situation , at the transit aéroport do we have to do passeport validation at police officer , or go directly to the gate of our next flight for the next departure ?
Thanks very much for all your informative videos Justin! They give travellers unfamiliar with Istanbul's International Airport a sense of just how big it is. I have a question: I will be flying in from Singapore en-route to Jordan. My flight's expected landing is 6.20am and connecting flight is 07.55am. What do you think are the likely gates for flights arriving from South East Asia and flights leaving for the Middle East? Thanks!
I wish I could give you an answer, but the arrival and departure gates changes all the time. On my trips so far, Istanbul -Bangkok, the gates has been at the concourse B, D or F so far.
Thank you so much for your video ! ‘D like to ask a question : At the descent of the plane, are there any buggy’s available to make my transit for my next flight ??(to my boarding gate) Thank you.
No, as far as I have experienced, there is no buggy at your arrival gate, you will have to walk to the departure area, in medium at the airport, here you will find the Buggy station. But that said, I have noticed some buggy cars at the arrival, but someone told me it was for passengers with disabilities. If you haven't seen it yet, here is my video about the Buggy Car Istanbul : ua-cam.com/video/CdKGVRnOHHM/v-deo.htmlsi=IFOXK1H5so-Es7Ak
Hi Zoe. It depends on the arrival and departure gate. For example, if you arrive at gate F9, and depart from gate F11, and have less then 90 minutes of transit, you will be eligible to use the "Short Connection" and will use under 10 minutes :) If over 90 minutes, and using the standard security control, you will probably use about 30 minutes. If you for example arrive at F 15, and depart from B15, you might use 45 minutes. My longest transitwalk has been 40 minutes, and the shortest was about 7-8 minutes. I made a video called Complete Transit guide to Istanbul Airport, there I explain in details about the transit walk. You can see the video here : ua-cam.com/video/ShJ4kFyCov4/v-deo.html
hey justin thank u for the explanation i’ve got a quick question. i’m going to travel with turkish airlines ( transit ) to istanbul then to antalya so the question is do i have to collect my luggage once i land in istanbul or i just have to move forward for the next flight?
I am not sure about this one, but if you are travelling with Turkish Airlines to your final destination, I would think they would check your luggage to Antalya. During check in, I would ask them to check in your luggage to your final destination. I hope it will work out, have a nice flight.
Wow what a lot of walking. Do you need a visa to transfer through Istanbul as an American, Thinking of traveling from MIAMI to BEIJING. How would you rate turkish airlines from one to ten
Yes, if you arrive and depart in the far ends, e.g F15 to B15, its a long walk. No you dont need a visa to do transit, as long as you stay inside the airport. Turkish Airlines....... well...... its not easy to rate them. I think I liked them better before, but they have lost some of its glory. The service isnt the same anymore. But if the price is correct, its still worth flying with them. We was a group of passenger left behind one time, and I have filed a claim for compensation, and they are doing everything they can to avoid paying the compensation. That said, when we lost our transit flight, they provided us with hotel and food, slow process but in the end we got it. These days im exploring Emirates, and will do so for, maybe the next 1-2 years, and so far, they are way better then Turkish, both on the seats, entertainment, food, service and more. So rating wise, I would definitely rate Emirates much higher then Turkish Airlines. Im not sure if it helped :)
Please sir am about to travel to Ecguador with my passport Guinea bisau which is visa free to Ecguador but i will transit in Istanbul am afraid i hope they will not send me back with out a visa on my passport?
Thank you for uploading this. I've some questions if you could provide an answer, that would be great. 1. I've 1 hour of layover on my connecting return flight . Will it be enough ? As you've mentioned it all depends on arrival and departure gate. But overall is it doable as I'll be accompanying my mother who can't walk long routes continuously. What can be my alternatives for that ? 2. As for my luggage on connecting fight, will it be transferred automatically or do I've do redo all the procedure by personally collecting my luggage than to go to the next gate of departure. 3. Is there any ride available for elderly provided by the airport or do I've to pay for it if i avail it .
Hi Sheroo and thank you :) 1. 1 hour isn't much, but it is doable. But as you mentioned, it really depends on the gates. But even, with the far gates, it is doable. Remember, since you have less then 90 minutes of transit, you are eligible to use the Short Connection. Just look for the pink signs saying "Short Connection". If your plane arrive late, there will normally be some ground staff at the arrival gate escorting you to your gate, and he will takes you through the Short Connection. If I dont remember wrong now, I think my longest transit walk was about 40 minutes. 2. If you bought your travel under 1 ticket, your luggage will normally be checked in to your final destination. During your first check in they will normally do this, but just ask them to be sure. 3. There is Buggy Car available for departure, not arrival. That mean you will have to walk to the middle of the airport, and take the Buggy Car from there. And its free for the elderly. Here is my video about Buggy Car in Istanbul Airport : ua-cam.com/video/CdKGVRnOHHM/v-deo.html
We arrive from Cappadocia to Istanbul at 1020 am and have a flight from Istanbul to Medina at 1235 pm Is that enough time? we will have luggage to check in both domestic and international departure. Thanks
I'm flying by myself from Cape town via Istanbul to Manchester early in June. Hope I will manage. Can you ask for assistance if you need help? It seems like a huge airport.
Yes, its a big airport, but easy to understand and navigate :) If you need assistance, you read more about that here : www.turkishairlines.com/en-int/any-questions/special-assistance-for-passengers/
Please Am with Turkish airline from Ghana(Accra) transiting from Istanbul-Milan(Italy), any help for not missing my flight and which counter will I check in?. Please any HELP!!
I’m flying from USA to Istanbul for a connection flight to Vienna, Austria do I follow this whole process? I’m kind of nervous never travel this far. TIA.
You will be ok :) Its a big airport but easy to navigate :) Just follow the signs for transit, pass through the security control, and then follow the signs to your gate :) When you come up the escalator from the securitycontrol, you are in the middle of the airport, you will see a huge monitor showing all the departures. Enjoy the shops and restaurants :) Have a great travel :)
Hi Justin, Please guide on below: I have an international Air Arabia Flight (from Abu Dhabi arriving at 22:45 pm). And I have to catch Turkish Airline Flight (domestic) to Antalya at next day within 2 hours at 01:00 am. How possible does it sounds? with immigration and collecting luggage and then moving to Domestic. Also, I checked that on average Air Arabia same flight is always 30 mins late. Please suggest.
Hi, i have never done that, so I can't give you any advice on this one. Sorry about that. I have left the airport 2 times, and that didn't took me long, and regarding check in, there is a lot of check-in counters, so I had no problems checking in fast. So without giving you any guarantees, I think you might make it :)
Hi, I've watched all your videos and have a question about check in, do you do your check in online and print 2 boarding passes by yourself, or do you do your check in at the airport? What should I do? I have a connection flight and only 1 hour between flights 🤦🏼♀️
Im not sure :) If you have luggage, you will have to go to the check in/ baggage drop desk anyway. If you have no luggage, then it will be a timesaver to check in online. Tomorrow I will fly with Emirates, and I have no luggage, only carry on. Then I check in online, download boarding pass, and put them in the Apple Wallet. If you have a printer in home, you just print them out. Im not sure if this helped :) Its been some time now since my last travel with Turkish Airlines through Istanbul :)
Your video was very helpful.. I am having Turkish Airlines Transit Flight from Copenhagen to Istanbul - Istanbul to Mumbai in 1 HOUR 5 minutes Transit time.. i hope I make in on time after watching ur videos.. i assume the departure gates close 30 minutes earlier than schedule flight time .. pls guide

@@manishatalukdar3873, min 110 min to be on safe side. The arrival and dep gates can be very far as much as 1.9km max , this can take 35 min of briskwalking then securty chk 20 min and gate can close before 15 to 20min .
When you come out from the baggage claim area, you turn right. There are a lot of small businesses providing hotel, taxi and more, but just proceed to the end, and you will find the Hotel Desk on your right side. I show it in the video here --> ua-cam.com/video/QoNQW72fVyk/v-deo.html
Oh yes, if no delays or other problems, 80 mins is more then enough :) I think the longest walk is about 30 minutes, and add some minutes on security control, and that's it. When stepping of the plane, as you come up from the airbridge, look for the monitor, try to find your gate. Depending on the arrival gate and departure gate, that will tell you more or less if you will get a short or long walk. Lower number is positive, both for arrival and departure. Arriving at F6, departure at F9, and use the Short Connection, and you will use under 10 minutes on the whole transit :) But if arrive at F19, like me, and one time, departure from B15, that was a long walk, but it is ok, I think I did it under 40 minutes :) So under normal circumstances you will be fine :)
Ehh... its not hard, but it can sometimes be far. My longest transit walk was 40 minutes, and the shortest was done under 10 minutes. You can check my Complete Transit Guide video. If you have any question I will try to do my best to answer it :)
after I arrive at the airport and the immigration check process I will continue the domestic flight, how far is it from immigration to the domestic check-in counter and is 90 minutes enoug
Hi Justin, thanks for your great video. I am travelling from Scotland to Afghanistan through Istanbul and I have 6 hours layover. I will be travelling through Turkish airlines but I need to change my airline in Istanbul and I don’t have baggage to reclaim in Istanbul airport, so do I need to have Turkey visa to get my second airline boarding pass? Or is it possible to get the boarding pass inside the airport before the security check for international transfers? Thanks

I understood, sir, that the transfer via Istanbul airport, if the flight is connected, you only need a security check, and when boarding the plane, how is the type of examination by reading or through the system ?
Yes, at the security control you will have to scan your boarding pass to go through. At the gate they normally check your boarding pass and your passport. This have been done manually by the gate-staff.
Will I get both boarding passes from the first place/flight I check in for? Meaning I’m travelling from Pakistan to Amsterdam(NLD) with layover/connecting flight from Istanbul. Will I be getting the boarding pass for the transfer flight from LHR(Pak) Airport Check In also?
Yes, normally they will give you boarding pass for the final destination. If for some reason they don't do that, you will find a servicedesk near the security control area in Istanbul Airport.
@@JustinThailand Wow wasn't expecting such a quick response so thank you very much for that. Just going from the video the sheer size of this airport alone can make a first time traveler anxious and panic and be forgetful even though it has those signs and instructions everywhere. I'll surely make sure that I get pass for the final destination on the very first check-in so there's one less thing to worry. Once again thanks for the reply.
Thanks you sir for this helpful video. but i got a question, if we don't get our second boarding pass for the next trip at our initial departure airport, how to do or where to go once arrived at istanbul to get it?

05:15 how will i check my departure gate on that huge screen? According to flight number on my boarding pass? Or what? Please help. Also do you have amy clear picture of that screen you showed on middle area/shopping area of airport from Which we will find our departure gates
Yes, use your flight number. When the screen is big like this, I often start to look at the times near my departure times, and from there I look for my destination, and then in the end I check that the flight number is the same. Departure gates normally don't come up on the screens before 1 hour 30 minute prior to departure time.
@@JustinThailand first of all a big thanks for your great efforts for helping out all the first time travelers from all over the world, i really appreciate your response to my comment. Also, yes I've noticed that departure gates don't show up much early and i am scared if I can't find my designated departure gate in time after it shows up on the screen and miss my flight because the stanbul airport is so big and a lot of walking.

Hello sir, thank you for your explanation about this airport, am travelling to Jakarta transit at Istanbul, I have 3hours ,am with a small child of 3 years, and is my first time to transit to this airport alone, I have 2 questions to ask you. Would you please explain to me how I will find the gate? Or it will be written on boarding pass? Are there stroller for small children? Thank you again for helping us
Hi :) In Istanbul Airport they normally announce the Gate 1 hour 30 minutes before departure. So you just follow the path to the security control, and after security control you take the escalator up to the departure floor, and you are in the middle of the airport. The first thing you will see is a huge monitor showing all the flights, time and gates. Around you, you will find a lot of restaurants, shops and more. I think the are strollers for children, but im not sure about this, since I haven't been looking for this.
This is great! thank you so much. I do have a question though. You come out of the gate F and i do see the short connection's "room" there but say if you would have arrived from D, or any other letter, a short connection room would also be available for those along the way? I also noticed there was no specific sign. Do you have any advice or anything i should look for because i know for a fact i will hav to use the short security point. Again, you don't know how much i appreciate these videos!! It's my first time flying and less than 90 min connection.
Hi and thank you :) Yes, there is Short Connections at every gate of the letters. Just follow the Pink sign says "Short Connection". If any question, just ask, I will try to do my best to answer them :) Have a nice flight, and do come back and tell how it turned out :)
hellloo, thank u so much for this helpful video!! I finally feel like i’m going to be fine on my flight😅 I just wanted to know if they have free wifi everywhere in the airport, also i wanted to know if my flight got cancelled and i had to stay for 24 hours in the airport, do they offer places for me to sleep or sit in?
Yes, they have wifi for free. There are kiosk throughout the airport were you can obtain password for wifi. Yes they will provide hotel and food for if neccesary. You just go to the Servicedesk( Care ) and they will issue a voucher for you.
@@JustinThailand thank u so much!! i also wanted to ask if u know the difference between international and domestic transfer? how do i know if my transfer is domestic or international
Yes, there are golf/buggy car driving. I don't know how this works, but I know there are some payments option, but I haven't had the time to check this out yet.
Yes, if you leave the airport you will have to get e-visa for Turkey. You will find more info here : www.mfa.gov.tr/visa-information-for-foreigners.en.mfa
Hello Sir. Thank you for this video. This is very helpful. I have a question though. I will have a 6hr layover in IST. I bought my travel in single ticket but it says on my itinerary, same airline (Turkish Airline) "BAGGAGE NOT CHECKED THROUGH" I assume I will have to collect my baggage and check in again. Do I need to apply for a transit visa? Will I undergo the immigration? I am confused about this. Thanks for your help.
mmmm ok, I would definitely try to check in the luggage to your final destination during your first check in. I will be surprised if they don't do that for you. Normally if leaving the airport you will need a visa, that's why I think they will check your baggage to your final destination.

No, you don't have to do checkin and immigration again, but your travel has to be in 1 ticket, and ask the staff to issue boarding pass to your final destination. Then you only have to go through the security control.
Transit on Istanbul airport is a disaster...the first trouble is that nobody speaks English on the airport.. secondly the displays on the airport are not working well ..to fast changing..From internationally to domestic is trouble...it takes to much time through customs.. Turkish airlines know these problems and offered me two times an free hotel for the night.

First; Yes, you can leave the airport during transit, but make sure you have the boarding pass for your next flight, that is your ticket to get in to the airport again. Second; Time-wise. Entering the airport again, You will have to go through the security and passport control. I have only done this myself 2 times, and it didn't took me that long to get in,(about 15 - 20 minutes minutes) but this depends on the time of the day, and rush hour. Normally airlines wants you to check in 2 hour before, but in your case I would think 1,5 hour before departure time would be enough. But again, if no queue at the passport and security control, and your departure gate is at the Concourse C, you will probably don't use more then 15-20 minutes from arrival the airport and to the departure gate :) But I wouldn't gamble on that. You know; better safe then sorry :)
In this video I used about 30 minutes. My shortest transit walk was 10 minutes, and the longest I think was about 40 minutes. So it all depends on the arrival and departure gate.
Hi again :) 1 hour is short, but doable. As I said before, this is more or less determined on your arrival and departure gate. But, if no delays or other problems, you should make it in time. If your plane arrive late, they will normally, not always, provide some ground staff at the arrival gate guiding you to your departure gate. Since, you have less then 90 minutes transit time, you are eligible to use the Short Connection. Just look for the pink sign saying "Short Connection".
Hey brother I have a flight to Canada and my transit is at Istanbul and connection time is only 1hr 20 min will it be enough to get on the plane along with all luggages?
Normally, if no delays, that will be enough. If you have transit less then 90 minutes, you are eligible to use the "Short Connection". Here is a link to my video; Complete Transfer Guide Istanbul ua-cam.com/video/ShJ4kFyCov4/v-deo.html and this is the video about "Short Connection" ua-cam.com/video/0Ov6T7ZdzTM/v-deo.html
When you check in, be sure that the ticket counter attendant checks in your luggage to your final destination Canada. You don't have to claim your luggage in Istanbul. Just follow the connection procedure that Justin is showing. You will be fine.
Hi I am flying from Ankara-Istanbul then I will have to claim my check-in baggage and go to my next İnternational flight. How do I do that? Do I have to exit the Airport? Please help me.😢
Hi :) My first question is; Are you flying with Turkish Airlines, or with a member of Star Alliance ? If yes, then you do as follow : When disembarking from aircraft, take your cabin baggage only and continue to international terminal. If you do not have a boarding pass, go to the counter of the airline to get your boarding pass. If you have a boarding pass, you can directly go to the passport control point. You can complete your passport procedures at the last point before exiting abroad. If you are not traveling with Turkish Airline, or a member of Star Alliance, you have to do as follows : Get your baggage from the domestic terminal. Go to the international terminal to complete check-in procedures at the counter of the airline with which you will fly abroad. Hope this helped :)
@@JustinThailand Thanks for the response. Im im flying with Turkish Airlines both Domestic & İnternational but the problem is I bought the ticket separately.
Ok, but according to Turkish Airlines, you just tell the ground staff during your first check in at Ankara, to check in your baggage to your final destination, and if they can issue boarding pass for the whole trip. I think they will do that. According to Turkish Airlines FAQ you can do this. You can find more information here : www.turkishairlines.com/en-tr/any-questions/transfer-transit-passengers/

Sorry to hear that. I have never done that, and can't help you so much with that, but you might have to exit through the passport control, collect luggage and check in again.
Hi :) I am so happy to hear the video help you and your family ❤️ Wish you and your family all the best ❤️
Really appreciate you, may lose a long time without this video , thank you
Thank you :) Happy to help :)
Great job..I thank you very much for this explanation, which will make traveling through Istanbul Airport fun, easy and without stress for many people..

No, cannot go through with water. But sometimes, and in some airports they don't care. But normally that is a no-go
Thank you so much for this information! Really helpful
Thanks 👍 Justin,,

My stopover will be 1:45 do you think it will be enough to catch my next flight? (with the same airline TURKISH)
Yes, it will be enough time to catch your next flight :)
Thanks for the video, very informative.
Nice video i realy like it.Thanks🤗🤗
Great video. What about a transfer from an international flight to a domestic one? GVA to IST and then IST to ANKARA. Thank you very much.
I have never done that, sorry :)
My next travel with Turkish Airlines with a transit in Istanbul for me will probably be early December.
I really scare to travel
GUYS HELP me please. I have a transit of 5.5 hours and I was planning on meeting someone in Turkey there during my transit. So during that transit I’m planning to go outside of the airport. Is this possible? (I’m not talking about a visa, I have a Turkish ID alr, but rules, regulation and time-wise? And how much time do you think I need, to go to my transfer second flight all the way outside from the airport. How many hours is enough do you think?
Good video. Helpful. Thank you
Thank you so much :)
Why is there not a tram system inside this airport like most others of large sizes around the globe?
Agree 100% :) The walk from F16 to A or B 16 is to long.
No, you dont have to validate passport, only securitycontroll :)
Thanks very much for all your informative videos Justin!
They give travellers unfamiliar with Istanbul's International Airport a sense of just how big it is.
I have a question:
I will be flying in from Singapore en-route to Jordan.

‘D like to ask a question :
At the descent of the plane, are there any buggy’s available to make my transit for my next flight ??(to my boarding gate)
Thank you.
@@JustinThailand thank you so much
How long does it does to take from one arrival to the next gate. 🙂
In general, there are no passport control when doing a transit inside of the Istanbul Airport.
Hi Sheroo and thank you :)
1. 1 hour isn't much, but it is doable.
Thank you for the video!

If your travel is under 1 ticket, you dont have to check in for transit, you just go to your gate. You only will have to through securitycontrol.
When you check in at the airport, at your first check in point, they normally print out boarding pass to your final destination.
@@JustinThailand Thanks, so are you suggesting to check in at the airport and not online?
Im not sure :) If you have luggage, you will have to go to the check in/ baggage drop desk anyway. If you have no luggage, then it will be a timesaver to check in online. Tomorrow I will fly with Emirates, and I have no luggage, only carry on. Then I check in online, download boarding pass, and put them in the Apple Wallet. If you have a printer in home, you just print them out.
Im not sure if this helped :) Its been some time now since my last travel with Turkish Airlines through Istanbul :)

Yes, the Short Connection sign is very visible, and is the color pink :)
Thank you very much for the reply...just in case I will use the long way not the Short connection 80mins lay over is enough to catch my flight?
Thank you very much ....
Is it hard to get from Arrivals to Departure area?

I understood, sir, that the transfer via Istanbul airport, if the flight is connected, you only need a security check, and when boarding the plane, how is the type of examination by reading or through the system ?
Yes, at the security control you will have to scan your boarding pass to go through. At the gate they normally check your boarding pass and your passport. This have been done manually by the gate-staff.

Would you please explain to me how I will find the gate? Or it will be written on boarding pass?

Hi :) In Istanbul Airport they normally announce the Gate 1 hour 30 minutes before departure. So you just follow the path to the security control, and after security control you take the escalator up to the departure floor, and you are in the middle of the airport. The first thing you will see is a huge monitor showing all the flights, time and gates. Around you, you will find a lot of restaurants, shops and more. Normally, 1 hour should be enough. Since you have less then 90 minutes to next flight, you are eligible to use the "Short Connection". Look for the pink signs. You can also look my video; Complete Transit Guide ua-cam.com/video/ShJ4kFyCov4/v-deo.html
I wont have to do the checkin and immigration process again right?
No, you don't have to do checkin and immigration again, but your travel has to be in 1 ticket, and ask the staff to issue boarding pass to your final destination. Then you only have to go through the security control.
Transit on Istanbul airport is a disaster...the first trouble is that nobody speaks English on the airport.. secondly the displays on the airport are not working well ..to fast changing..From internationally to domestic is trouble...it takes to much time through customs.. Turkish airlines know these problems and offered me two times an free hotel for the night.
Sir thanks for this helpful vid! I have a question, I have a 9hr layover in turkey airport, just wondering if i need a transit visa for that?😊
If you dont leave the airport, you dont need visa, but if you leave the airport then you nedd visa.
@@JustinThailand thanks! All the best!
Hello, I have 1 hour 5 mints layover and then connecting flight
Istanbul to Chicago today, originally abudhabi to Istanbul and Istanbul to Chicago flight.
kindly guide me it will be possible and v should take both boarding pass from abudhabi and departure door can close 30 mints b4.....if flight is through Turkish airline so they will support to get our connecting flight Istanbul to Chicago??..
please reply , thank u.
Yes, get boarding pass for both flights at Abu Dhabi Check In. 1 hour 5 minutes is normally enough time for transit. And you can use the Short Connection. If your plane arrive late, there will normally be a Ground staff at your arrival gate escorting you to the departure gate.
@@JustinThailand thank you Justin!!

Did you made it on time with any help as I too have the same situation!
Hi i Will have only 1 hour and 35 minutes to get conneccion from Istanbul to bkk most of people told me its enough but ... Airport Is so huge !
Yes, I can confirm; 1 hour 35 minutes is enough time to do transit :) Have a nice flight :)

Btw, How long is your transit time?
In this video I used about 30 minutes. My shortest transit walk was 10 minutes, and the longest I think was about 40 minutes. So it all depends on the arrival and departure gate.
hi, do u think 1hr 55m is enough for international transfer?
Yes, 1 hour 55 minutes is enough :) Have a nice trip :)
@@JustinThailand thanks
it seems like there is a lot of walking

Hi sir i planning to go Berlin to instanbul to manila. Should i follow all that step sir? Thank you:
Yes, more or less. You will have to go through the security control, and from there go to your departure gate.
@@JustinThailand thank you so much sir but 1 hour is enough to reach my next gate?
Hi again :) 1 hour is short, but doable. As I said before, this is more or less determined on your arrival and departure gate. But, if no delays or other problems, you should make it in time. If your plane arrive late, they will normally, not always, provide some ground staff at the arrival gate guiding you to your departure gate.
Since, you have less then 90 minutes transit time, you are eligible to use the Short Connection. Just look for the pink sign saying "Short Connection".
@@JustinThailand thank you so much sir❤️

If yes, then you do as follow :
When disembarking from aircraft, take your cabin baggage only and continue to international terminal.
If you do not have a boarding pass, go to the counter of the airline to get your boarding pass. If you have a boarding pass, you can directly go to the passport control point.
You can complete your passport procedures at the last point before exiting abroad.
If you are not traveling with Turkish Airline, or a member of Star Alliance, you have to do as follows :
Get your baggage from the domestic terminal.
@@JustinThailand oh thanks a lot! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Thanks
Can i ask you please i have a problem

No bagage reclaim on transit ?
If your travel is under 1 ticket, they will normally check your luggage to your final destination. So no, there is no baggage claim on transit.
@@JustinThailand I checked and found that I should reclaim my baggage on transit... They suck
Sorry to hear that. I have never done that, and can't help you so much with that, but you might have to exit through the passport control, collect luggage and check in again. I don't know the rules for visa, but I think Turkey have e-visa for this. I don't know where you bought the ticket, but they should have informed you about this, so sorry, but hope it work out for you.
@@JustinThailand no worries bro ur vidéos helped us a lot... I will check with my service provider... I'm not going to go out of the airport so I don't need an e visa. My transit is about 5 hours so I'll stay in the airport
@@wanderlustwernweh5313 so can you collect your luggage without transient visa?
So we don't need to collect laggage and check in again? Thank you for the video
That is correct, but your flights need to be under 1 ticket.
Got it, thank you so much you're amazing
Just be sure that the check in attendant checks in you bags to your final destination.
Should we go to passpot control again in short departure?
No, there is no passport control for transit.
What's the security check he told on video?
Yes, there is a security check, but no passport control :)
You just show your boarding pass
@JustinThailand thank you for your inform 👍
Do I have to check in at Istanbul again when I already have 2 boarding passes from my home country??
No, I dont think so. Just make sure they check your baggage to your final destination. I am also assuming you bought the travel under 1 ticket :)
@@JustinThailand yes under one iterenary number. Is that what you mean?
Yes :)
Hi.
To Justin or anybody that can give me a advice.
In very , very near future a have a flight to and from Istanbul airport with different companies and teo tickets, with baggage.
Needless to say it just two hours apart due to one company decision to change time schedule for the flights. 😡
Any wise advice from personal experience how to manage that would be highly appreciated.
I will use online check in for departure flight. It's my only option.
I have never done that myself, but I think it is doable. 2 hour should enough.
Thanks Justin, it really means a lot. 😊☺️
