Cerro Chaltén, Winter Solo Ascent, via the Supercanaleta (Sept 2022)

- This video consists of some rudimentary footage (shot on my phone) taken in September 2022, during a winter climbing trip to El Chaltén, Argentina. I managed to complete my goal during the trip, of making a winter, solo ascent of Cerro Chaltén, by the Supercanaleta route. The footage was shot by myself, but this video was edited by the folks at Patagonia, and appeared first on their channel.
Please don’t change a thing, Colin. Your documentation, attitude, and style are so honest and refreshing. Thank you for the genuine approach to impressive feats and the effort to give us all a glimpse. Keep it up!
The only thing I'd change is the motion sickness I get from all the fast movement of the camera lol ETA no shade thrown at Colin, just saying I wish I could watch more of these types of videos.
Personally I prefer these raw videos big time to hollywood-style productions with climbing-unrelated reflections and background information taking most of the time.
Love your videos, your climbing, the style of your ascents and your footage - probably among the best climbing stuff being made now. Really looking forward for more!
And let's not forget people using overly dramatic music drowning out themselves speaking.

This is epic. Thank you for taking us along with you on this epic journey. I am so proud of you. When your face popped up on top of the ridge smiling I couldnt help but smile with you. When you made it to the top and we saw nothing but darkness and el chalten in the distance it became painfully obvious how far you pushed it here. Everyone is sat inside warm and comfortable and you are standing on top of a mountain by yourself at 9 pm getting ready to climb down in the dark. I'm in awe.

Solo! Wow! At least you stay safe, you know what you’re doing, never get down on yourself - enjoy the journey, which you do! Sketchy ascent mate, well done. That looked terrifying. I can understand it would be incredibly hard to find a suitable partner for this kind of venture, I have enough trouble finding someone to just go for a hike with.
Colin says, "I alone the summit of fits at night, in winter fleels pretty fucked up." It that hard hitting reality that you might die descending. So you promise yourself that this will be the last time if you live because you know that you only get so many of these types of descents before the mountain takes you.
