      True.
      I think it depends more on education, not age directly. We have same kind of difference in opinions by age on many things here in Ukraine and Russia. Fewer people that could afford/be arsed to get higher education means that on average older generation think the way that old lady does: "them yanks, and the enemy of my enemy is my friend".

      Isaac Arroyo, what on earth are you talking about? In one sentence he explains there is really nothing China can do to influence North Korea. 2 minutes later he says that China would have its influence in the region disrupted by a US presence in NK. He is talking out both sides of his mouth. Either they have influence, in which case they should use it, or they don't have influence and have nothing to lose if the US goes in and solves the problem. It cannot be both. That's not wisdom, my friend.

    • @isaacarroyo9903
      @isaacarroyo9903 6 років тому +28

      I don't agree with everything he said. But I liked how he had strong opinions and wasn't afraid of holding back to be "politically correct" and "nice" about the situation. He was asked his opinions and gave them without hesitating and I respect that.

      Radial NK has had artillery aimed at Seoul since the signing of the armistice that have deterred America. They don't need nukes.

    • @ArchesBro
      @ArchesBro 6 років тому +3

      Raidiar that is not true. North korea has enough artillery at hte border that a preemptive strike is too risky. Other factors are the paramotors north korea has on hte border for stealth attacks. VX nerve agent, which a drop or 2 can kill. China seems willing to defend as well. They do not need more deterrence to prevent the US from intervening .

    • @alexaurelian8024
      @alexaurelian8024 6 років тому +13

      I would say the opposite. In China the information available to the general populous is extremely limited, thats not saying that they aren't intelligent its just that they have limited knowledge of the real factors happening in the world outside of China. In the US as citizens we have American biases its true but a lot of Americans at the same time don't because they have access to vast amounts of diverse information, at but a click away. With that vast information we can make our own views and opinions based off real world facts. Because we can compare multiple sources of information to learn what the truth of situations is. Chinese citizens on the other hand don't have that kind of access, what they get is extremely limited and only what the government approves to be seen, they may seem self-aware but its mainly manufractured opinions the Chinese government creates. Their is a reason China has the 'Great Firewall' in place, it needs to control its population rigidly because if it didn't China would face mass civil unrest and most likely revolts across the country. If they stopped their mass censorship the country wouldn't remain unified past 2050. Ideas are dangerous, that is why China has heavy censorship and strict limits on their citizens ability to live and move throughtout the country.

The truth is never believe in medias, but ur judgements from critical thinking. If America, China, and Russia were completely out of the picture South Korea would not want to live under the communist system, and especially not under the Kim dynasty. The Kims hate South Korea and would not live under their system, and would never relinquish power. Reunification is not going to happen regardless. Any real attempt would start a heated civil war. Technically, they are still in a civil war for control.

      It is exactly how it is written in Chinese, but not necessarily being beautified or sarcastic, like in Japanese America is written as 米国, but it doesn't mean you are rice country. Each Chinese characters has its meaning but when come to name translation, we often only use its sounding part that can represents some syllables in the original English name.
      The interesting thing is several European countries and USA do get a pretty genteel character to represent their name rather than a more neutral one, I personally suppose that's because when the name first got translated in Chinese society in 18th or 19th century was done either by some Chinese scolars that like America or by some Chinese speaking American missionaries that self gifted themselves these fancy charaters.

      Yeah they still wouldn't be ok with that... the only reason North Korea leaves the south alone is because they know the US will curb stomp them into oblivion if they do try something. China wants a buffer thats all they care about, as long as they aren't being threatened by North Korea they could careless what happens there. The North Koreans could literally execute 1,000 people everyday right on the Chinese border in full view of a everyone they wouldn't care. Heck even if they did it right in front of a Chinese city straddling the Yalu river, doing it in full view just across the water and making sure to personally shoot each person in th back of the head one at a time, the Chinese government still wouldn't bat an eyelash. If Korea did unify they still wouldn't except them even if the US pulled their troops and influence out of it because that would still create a large economic and military power right on their border. There is a reason they invaded then occuppied then annexed Inner Mongolia and Tibet, they don't want any threat near their borders.

    The view by older Chinese in this video is pretty short sighted. North Korea is more likely to launch a nuke against Tokyo than Seoul. Japan knows this. Their nuclear technology is very advanced. They are a screwdriver turn from having nuclear weapons. South Korea, Japan, and Taiwan probably already have nuclear weapons. They have the technology, but politically have decided not too. North Korea is destabilizing the region and nuclear weapons are proliferating because of North Korea. Does China really want Japan to have nukes?

  • @PT-ve1fl
    @PT-ve1fl 6 років тому +74

    I'm Chinese and I think that old lady really needs to watch more news about NK now. Anyways, Us gov't asked China gov't to take care NK problem, however, US held military training with SK at the same time, which makes the situation more intense. It's like China tried to put out the fire, but US gov't keep pouring gasoline into the fire, and still blame China didn't do the work. That's ridiculous. I can say if SK have a war against NK, China definitely won't touch it. However, if US would send troops to NK and intervene the war, China won't let it happen. Just like the last Korean war. So the Korean peninsula problem will definitely be solved much easier if US not intervene it, and the situation will be less complicated. It just should be the problem only between NK and SK.

    • @nekowafer4017
      @nekowafer4017 6 років тому +8

      This is so fucking dumb. The US is helping out SK so much against NK because they do NOT want SK and Japan developing their own nukes to counter NK which they keep on threatening to do! It's been proven that both countries have the expertise and capability to build nukes now, they just haven't because of the US. You want to talk about gasoline on a fire? How about the ENTIRE REGION FULL OF NUKES? Do you seriously want that????

    • @allenad2155
      @allenad2155 6 років тому +10

      If someone constantly fires missiles at you and threatens to nuke your country, then having regular Military training to defend yourself with allies is just common sense.
      The only reason why north korea still exists today is because of china. If china stopped supporting them and putting up with their crazy shit then south koreas military dependency on america will also become redundant.

    • @allenad2155
      @allenad2155 6 років тому +6

      Martin Brodel Look at the difference between north korea and south korea today and you get the answer. North korea does not care about its own people at all. All their money is used on weapon development at the cost of starving its people just so kim can remain as a dictator.
      This is not 1950. Soviet union does not exist anymore. Russia and china has no business in the Korean Peninsula. America is concerned because America is being directly threatened by north korea. On the contrary, south korea does not threaten russia or china, they actually have relatively good relations today.
      For china, economic ties and good relationships with south korean and america, which are some of their most significant trade partners is far more important than getting into a messy war trying to protect north korea as a buffer.
      Is china going to risk their own prosperity and peace for a crazy hermit buffer? That is really questionable.

    • @lovelylychee2255

      I see what your saying, the only problem is that Korea and Japan will probably be in the mix and both of them (if not just Japan) can't exclude the US at that point because due to their relations they are already involved...
      I feel like this could be resolvable if by some out of who-knows-what miracle, the relationship between the US and China could become a better/more than adequate. Though that seems so impossible...

China agrees to the request and if South Korean government asks for the same, China will also respond accordingly. Pure diplomatic issues regarding trespassing. When China found out that some people were tortured or even killed after the repatriation, Chinese government brought up the demand that no one be killed as a precondition.

The last thing it want's is hungry North Koreans streaming across the border. However they have to APPEAR to be seeking a solution, so they keep endlessly arranging conferences. As the old cliche goes, "talk is cheap." Also, China cooperates witht the DPRK by arresting North Korean escapees and sending them back to torture and imprisonment, if not execution.

    I bet when China was developing nuclear weapons it was thought as a threat as well. The fact is without nuclear weapon we wouldn't get where we are today. It is crucial. However, the sad thing is, there is no opening up in NK even after they have had nuclear weapons. There is also no improved livelihood for the people. It seems they are not trying to go with the path we set for them. Sad. I always thought NK should open for foregin investment, at least open to us Chinese in exchange for protection!

    I find it really interesting that there was such a generational split. I don't know how representative the two elder commentators were of the general feelings of the Chinese of that generation, but they seemed to speak much more neutrally-to-almost admirably about Kim Jong Un and his regime's tactics. While the younger people seemed to feel that the regime is more destructive and provocative. The younger commentators also seemed to believe in China's responsibility and power to maintain peace in the region. In the end, they were right. American presence in North Korea would be in itself overly provocative and I empathize with their unwillingness to have heavy American presence right on their borders. I also feel that China has a responsibility to deal with Kim by virtue of the fact that China has propped them up all these years. The regime would have potentially collapsed with the 90s famine otherwise and who knows what kind of opportunities that could have opened up for the Korean Peninsula. The best balance for all four countries' interests was to have China work to contain the monster it is feeding, while South Korea and the US restrains its military presence and doesn't push beyond S Korea's borders. I'm frankly rather upset that Donald Trump is upsetting that balance recklessly to distract from his numerous domestic problems. I was surprised how much my own perception was aligned with most of the Chinese commentators.

    For the Chinese saying he has no choice but to listen, is that why he hasn’t listened to China’s warnings at all? And in fact killed his uncle who was the ambassador to China?

    Interesting mix of conflicted opinions, and a reminder that of course 1.4 billion people aren't all going to believe the same thing. The broad strokes though are that they would all rather this was not happening (except maybe the older woman) and they certainly don't want a war.

    The two guys are Taiwanese. They are not mainland Chinese at all. The political stance on both sides is quite different, like South Korea and North Korea. Is it not objective or ridiculous to represent the Chinese mainland with Taiwanese standpoints or opinions?

      JEFFREY ANG 洪 they used 北韩 instead of 朝鲜, which is the term mainland Chinese people tend to use. And also they say 亚(三声)洲, instead of 亚(四声)洲. That is another distinctive feature. There is more details that I’m not gonna put on one by one, but you will be able to find more of these little things in the video.
