I've used the change my path method. One time I was out walking my dog and I see someone, possibly male, dressed in dark clothing with their hoodie over their head. They were on the other sidewalk but were crossing over to my side, walking diagonally across the street. Even though they weren't doing anything overtly suspicious, I still got some bad vibes from it. I didn't like how it felt, luckily I was walking in front of the police station at that time so I entered the parking lot. There were two women getting into their car, so I stood around them for a bit waiting to see the dark clothed figure pass and make sure they kept walking straight and weren't following me. After a while, I see them pass and I keep walking, only, instead of returning to my previous path, I decided to continue walking through the police station parking lot. I keep walking for a bit and then turn around as I usually do. Well, imagine my horror when I see that the hooded figure is following me! 😱 Only this time, I am already well pass the women and their car and they're probably gone by now anyways. Not to mention the parking lot was completely empty. When the person saw that I had spotted them, they immediately went behind one of the buildings. Oh hell no, I started running towards the entrance of the police station, only for my stomach to drop as soon as I realized it was closed. My blood went cold and I felt like I had put myself in a dead end. I continued to run down the stairs, across the parking lot, and onto the sidewalk of a busy street. There were many stores, lights, and cars zooming by. I felt a little safer but I was still scared I'd see the person again or that they would come in a car and pick me up. So, I called my sister and told her to come pick me and my dog up. I waited at a McDonald's I was already close to until she came. She told me that the police station is closed at that time, so what business could that person have had there at that hour? 🤔 Also, what's scary is that the person lead me to believe they had already passed by and left, only to enter the empty parking lot with me later. Suspicious... And lastly, what gives me chills is that, just like they went behind a wall as soon as I spotted them the second time, maybe they never really passed the police station to begin with. Maybe they were just hiding behind the gate at the entrance to trick me, and if I had decided to continue along my previous path and go out the same gate I entered through, what if they would've popped out and grabbed me 😰 All very scary thoughts. I am just glad that 1) I felt the bad vibes and 2) I did not go back out the way I came.

My friend Michael was returning to his apt in Hollywood, opened his door only to find an intruder standing there who said: ''Come in and close the door''. -------- His instinct was fantastic. I've taught my kids to do whatever they can to make sure they don't leave where they are, including making the person crash their car, if they put them in the front seat and try driving away, grab the steering wheel and don't let go, at the very least they will be swerving and will attract attention. But aside from that kick, punch, scream, bite their ear off if you have to, use anything and everything as a weapon. Also going with the scenario of them putting you in their car, if you're in the front seat, try to get back out, if you can't, shove something in the ignition, you have keys, shove one in and break it off, even a rolled up piece of paper can take time to remove. If you're in the trunk, kick the taillights, if you can't get them start pulling wires.

@@dant1239 Teach your kid, if they are ever in such a scenario, to not only grab the steering wheel, but to also immediately turn the wheel in any direction as fast as they can, even if it means flipping the vehicle over. Also have your kid to scream as loud as they can. It saddens me that kids (or anyone) have to worry about creeps in society. They are sick bastards.

    • @dant1239
      @dant1239 Рік тому +25

@@bobby1970 I did teach them that, I told them that it's better to get into a car crash than to do nothing. I told them to scream as loud as they can, but not only to do that but to scream things like "stop, I don't know you, let go of me, you're hurting me"....etc, just screaming might get attention, but where I live I hear kids scream while playing all the time, so screaming won't always stand out, also someone yelling for help won't always get people to help. I also said that if they know they can't get away and are going to be taken, they can yell out any obvious identifying features that they can see like specific tattoos, or if they can the license plate of the vehicle, my thinking with that is not only does it stick out and seem odd, so people would notice, but it also could stand out in people's memories, the people might not have seen the license plate, but they probably could hear you yelling it, they might not see the tattoo that the guy has but they might remember that the kid was yelling that the guy that took them had a tattoo of ____ on his right arm, or a scar across their face. But above all, I told them that they can and should do anything they can to get away, to gouge the person's eyes out if they can, if they have to bite their ear off, to wrap their arms and legs around their legs and hold on with all their strength while screaming as loud as they can, that literally anything goes

My neighbor was just recently almost abducted. We live out in the country. It was the early afternoon and she went for daily walk. But the one mistake she made was that she had earbuds in and didn’t hear the SUV slow down and approach her till it was almost too late. 2 guys jumped out of their car and told her to get in. But the one thing that saved her was when she pulled out her gun ! So glad we live in an open carry state. She pointed it them and they jumped back in and sped off. She was able to memorize part of the license plate and make and model and color of vehicle.

My mom always taught me to walk confidently, with a serious face, eyes never on my shoes, and be EXTREMELY aware of my surroundings. She also said to NEVER walk next to a car with open doors, and if something doesn't feel right or someone feels shady from miles away, cross the road. Never let me have any food any stranger or even friends gave to me, never let me eat at anyones house except family, never let me go out at night -I wasn't even able to go anywhere past 6! NEVER walk into an isolated area, don't enter parks at night, anywhere where there are trees someone could be hiding, and also this one is severely underestimated: shut up in public. If you have no business talking then don't talk. It can wait. If you really have to, keep it short and serious. You wouldn't believe how many people display their entire life in public transportation or public places, anyone could be listening and taking notes. When you're in a foreign city, don't make it obvious you're a tourist. If you're going somewhere, always let multiple trustworthy people know when, with whom, and by what route if possible. I never take an uber without texting the plate and the driver to my husband.
If someone tries to kidnap you, SCREAM as loud as you can!! If you want to ask for help, do not yell "im being kidnapped", yell "fire!!" When you yell “FIRE, FIRE, FIRE” at the top of your lungs, as loud as you can yell it, people will stop and pay attention because it has a connection to their safety and they will run to see what's happening. If you stay something else they might think youre having a fight with your spouse or friend and not want to get involved.
When I was a kid she drilled into my head "do not EVER follow anyone that tells you im sick and waiting to be transported to the hospital!!

I would also like to add: It is not safe to date, rent a room, or use somebody else's bathroom lest you are unknowingly filmed and end up on porn sites where money can be made on your images...FOREVER! According to Polaris Project. The most pervasive myth about human trafficking is that it often involves kidnapping or physically forcing someone into a situation. In reality, most traffickers use psychological means such as, tricking, defrauding, manipulating or threatening victims into providing commercial sex or exploitative labor.

As an educator for human trafficking awareness, I am so grateful for the latter part of your comment. I am also grateful that this video brings awareness to the prevalent issue of human trafficking and the importance of women knowing how to defend themselves.
Unfortunately, it’s sad that over a half a million people are led to believe that that MYTH is true by it being perpetuated in this video.
Traffickers bank on building trust with their victims during the grooming process which results in trauma bonding, and that means victims are less likely to report, snitch and escape their trafficker, let alone self-identify as a victim of human trafficking. Grooming is intentional, subtle and much more effective in trapping their victims.

I work in social services, and sadly, many foster children get absorbed into the trafficking world as well. One girl we placed disappeared when she was eight. We completely lost track of her AND her foster family. After searching for years, AND getting authorities involved, we finally found her eight years later. At age sixteen, she was barely recognizable. She’d lived a life of sex slavery since the night she was taken. She’d gotten pregnant five times, had three abortions and given birth twice. Her babies, both girls, were taken away as soon as they were born and were likely swallowed by the system that enslaved their mother, sadly to endure the same fate she had. We still haven’t found them. This girl is now on constant suicide watch and has lost all hope for herself and for people. She noticed that several guys in a white SUV eyeing her. She went inside the nearest 7-11 and stayed there since there were cameras and witnesses. Stressfully enough, the guys also approached her at the store, standing near the entrance and one guy about at an arm's length. She called on her boyfriend who came via motorcycle a couple of minutes later. The boyfriend eyed up the goons while walking out and the potential assailants stood down surprisingly. Then, they were being tailed by the same people into the neighborhood of the guy. So the smart thing they did was to drive near the police station to which the SUV pulled away. I could think of several ways this could've ended better, but it is what it is. Thankfully my coworker got away to tell the tale.

I'm a 15 year old girl living in a rural area in Austria and I am still thankful that I discovered your channel. The area that I live in is normally really save, but for reasons that I can't say (because I will get hate for it) it hasn't been save for a few years now. A few months ago, I was walking with my dog (french bulldog) and was followed by a few men. They were suspicious looking, so I immediately avoided them right after seeing them. It was pretty hot in summer any my dog has breathing problems, so I had to stop. I sat down on a park bench next to a bus stop and waited there with my phone ready. After 10 to 20 minutes, I noticed that they kept walking up and down that path on the opposite side of me. Unfortunately, I know where they live (it's a VERY small village) and they have to walk the same way as me to get home. After I didn't see them for a few minutes, I started walking home and they were crossing my path again. At some point, we were taught in school to look into their eyes the whole time, stand there facing them, have your phone out and stand with shoulders up and looking confident, but not looking like you would want to fight (if that makes sense). So after they walked past me I saw a woman on a bycicle driving in the same direction, so I stopped her and told her what happened and she agreed to walk with me after that. She said that she was followed by them before as well. Another thing I remember from school was to ask someone to accompany you if possible (in this area, you can't go somewhere where it's busy or into stores). I didn't see them anywhere after that, but I know where they live and that's a minute away. When I walk my dog, I always avoid this particular road and instead go where I know everyone. I was scared for the whole day because I thought they could easily find me if they wanted. Sorry for my bad english, I hope what I wrote is comprehensible.

It is good hearing your story, since some rural areas are becoming not very safe, but I think it is because people from cities are getting there for hiding due to it is easy and police could hard find them in isolate places with forest, in worse cases they could stay tenporaly living in a contryside house due to human trafficking for the same reading, it is easier. I tell you this because I live in a rural area and the last year it is becoming not very safe 😢. It is really sad! 2:06 2:06

She would say something like, "I just saw that man try and take you, do you want a ride home?" THIS WAS A LIE. While she was in Prague, she was walking home from a bar alone at night, and two men tried to abduct her. She was able to recognize the danger in time to fight her way back to the bar and call the police. Many locations in Europe and Asia limit your ability to carry a weapon, and not knowing local language and customs can make you vulnerable. Keep your head on a swivel and try to avoid sketchy situations.

I even went on a night tour of some local cemeteries and some secret underground tunnels via some of the churches. It was pretty rad. Looking back on it I can’t believe I did all of that by myself. I was 24 at the time. I’m now in my early 30’s and use more discernment with a lot of things, including going out. I carry a pepper spray with me always and I am aware of my surroundings. I believe people can tell when you’re aware that you’re no easy target, so the politely eff off if they thought about harming you.

I have a tragic story. Someone very close to my family suddenly disapeared. My aunt Jeanica's (pronounced Janeesa) best friend Jenny. This was 22 years ago. I was 11. They were both around 40. Like all the women in my family they were both very beautiful, tall long legs with a figure and long blonde hair down to their hips. They both wore really short skirts and high heels like all the women in my family even my grandmother. Jenny, my aunts bestie, was a divorced single mom. Her son was just outta high school. She drove a really bad ass convertable corvette. Well one evening while i was spending time at aunt Jeanicas over summer break as i so often did, we get a phone call from Jennys neighbor saying "get over here quick, theres police tape all around the front yard of jennys house. Cops and local news crews are everywhere. I dont know whats going on but you should get here asap!" So Aunt Nica immediatly called her a few times. No answer. So she calls Jennys mom. She answers in hysterics. " Oh Jeanica, Jennys gone and theres blood everywhere." Thats all jeanica could understand. So she said "on my way now" and we immedietly hopped in the car and FLEW over there. We get there and sure enough news vans and camera crews and police everywhere. Caution tape. Theres blood all over the front yard, all over the front porch and front door. The corvette which had been in the driveway with the top up was hauled in as evidence or whatever. The interiors of the car was absolutely completly drenched in blood. It was pooling in puddles in the back seat and floor boards and had dripped onto the pavement of the driveway. There was blood in parts of the house. Bloody handprints on the glass of the back storm door. Her lock box was in the back yard open and her she kept in it was missing. Her mom came rushing over and had the cops let us through. She was a sweet gentle kind old lady reminded me a lot of Mary Tyler Moore lol. Anyways the cops had removed patches of bloody carpet, a blood soaked couch pillow, and all their samples and evidence. So they took down the tape. The detective escorted her mom out to breifly speak to the press about whats going on and ask them to please respect our privacy and what not. We set up camp there at Jennys. Me and my Aunt Jeanica my cousin rachel who was about 22 and Jennys mom and Jennys 18 yo son Michael who lived there. We printed flyers and we rode all around our side of the city putting them on telephone poles and around parks. We walked around parks with sticks looking in bushes and ditches. Helping my aunt find her absolute dearest friend and soul sister. Helping this sweet gentle lady find her daughter. We were looking for her body. Wed go back to jennys and take breaks and wait. To hear something. We slept there. Sometimes her mom would suddenly start crying. Sometimes my Aunt Jeanica would. Sometimes i did for the both of them. I was only 11 yo but i had grown up very fast unfortunatly. And so because of that I tried to do whatever i could do to help support my aunt even if it was just emotional. And for some reason she wanted me with her during that. They found Jenny. Michael had to identify her. Jennys mom couldnt do it. She was wrapped up in a blanket in a ditchline on the playground of an elementary school. All her long beautiful hair had been cut off. She was beaten to death. Long story short it was her son and ex husband who did it. Theres no evidence of any kind and. But many years later her son was drunk and confessed it to my cousin in private. He resented how beautiful his mom was and how much attention she got for it. Instead if being grateful to her for working her ass off as a single mom to give him everything he wanted and nurturing him and loving him, He resented her beauty and her vivaciousness and he resented how she left his dad for beating her up all the time and he resented how hard she worked and that she was self made. So him and his dad decided to put her in her place as a woman. He drunkenly confessed it to my cousin. Then him and his dad both left the country into canada and completly dispeared off the face of the planet. But that experience has stuck with me for my entire life. Just goes to show you sometimes it can be the people closest to you who think your disposable or want to seriously hurt you. Even your own child or relative.

If you have any suspicion that someone is following you, turn your head and look that person in the face while continuing to walk. Turn and looking at the person's face for 10-15 seconds repeatedly let's the person know you are aware of him, and he doesn't have the element of surprise.
Cross the street if you think someone is following you, and look him right in the face as you do so. It says "I'm aware of you."
If he crosses the street to get back behind you, cross the street again and give him the eye. If he again crosses towards you, yell that you will scream if he keeps following you. Start dialing 911 and get ready to hit send.
If he doesn't stop, start screaming "fire" at the top of your lungs and hit that send button.
Don't tell "help." Most people don't want to get involved, but they are afraid of fire.
I spent many late nights walking home from friends homes as a teenager in Los Angeles in the 1970s/80s. Not a good idea, but I have some experience with men on the streets.

This happened to me 36 years ago in the 1980s! I was delivering free penny savers, I had a 40 lb newspaper bag I was carrying, it was a busy road, it also was a small plaza parking lot, When 2 large not fat men asked how much the paper was, one man was in his sports car the other standing outside the car, and he then asked me if he could have one, I took out the paper and started to hand it to him, he proceeded to grab my arm while the other was trying to shove me in. I yelled cried I was 35 years old, just then a trucker in a semi stopped all traffic ran out of his truck, several men working on a roof practically flew off the roof these brave men saved my life! I never heard about human trafficking back then in the 80s. But since that day I let others know how quickly this can happen. I had the large bag in my arms that slowed these men from kidnapping me and will always be grateful for the trucker and roofers that came to my rescue! So, yes this happens in broad daylight!
Two years ago, my daughter and her husband just happened to be in their front yard when a car pulled over and a 14 year old boy jumped out staggering, toward them yelling for help, a man had convinced the kid that he'd give him a ride home and offered soda and the soda was drugged the boy drank some and realized it was spiked so then he knew he had to get out! We live in a small city.
Warn and warn again others of what can happen! Sick sick people out there!

And if some training is suggested, there is resignation that they will just be a victim, have no chance and so on. To use a simple example Warning: "let's not leave the window open, the bird might escape." Emotional Escape: "No it won't, it never goes up stairs, don't you know that?" Counter: "No, I don't know that." Emotional Escape:"You're being rude. We're not having this conversation"

Can't tell you the number of attacks I have been through, but I have always had fight mode on. The first attack was when I was 8 and a man tried to get me to go into his yellow sports car. Because I went to school in a different town, I had to travel quite far, my mum taught me survival skills in case of an attack. She was right to put the fear of god in me because it really happened and not just once in that poverty stricken place, I know how to fight back, scream very loudly. That gave me the confidence to go out and come back late in my younger days. But I won't allow my teen out knowing what I know now.

When I went out of the store and was walking towards my car I noticed a very old van with very dark windows with its motor on parked to the left of my vehicle. It had its door a little bit open and it was extremely close to the side of my vehicle driver door. I just had this weird feeling about it so I entered my vehicle from the copilot door instead and the minute I did that the door that was opened was closed off and it took off immediately. I was born in DC, raised in a blue collar area just outside of it in Fairfax co, but literally just on the other side of my elementary school, which was backed up to my back yard, was the low income, and sadly gang and drug area as well. I was raised going to school with these kids, was friends with ones who dealt, just because they had siblings, and mom was an addict. So they were going to school, and dealing to pay for the groceries to feed themselves and younger siblings. My father was an alcoholic and my family life wasn’t great either. So I was out, and on the streets, and my own at 14. I went to school, and worked and rented rooms, so I did better than most. But it gave me a better perspective when my husband and I raised our 3 daughters. I taught them to always walk like they knew, and owned the area they were in. Basically, walk with the upmost confidence, situational awareness ALWAYS! I didn’t care if they were walking 5 feet from the front door, to a car. They knew everything about their surroundings, that they possibly could, on that first step, while looking 100% secure in those surroundings. But most importantly for me, was to never be the victim, ever! Even if you end up in a bad situation, don’t become the victim, keep thinking, keep fighting, keep looking for your put, your break, your escape. Your never the victim, till you allow it. So far, they are 33, 33, and 25 and have stayed safe and have great lives and families of their own. 2 carry, hunt and are completely comfortable with their 2nd amendment, and one of them even collects “pretty” bejeweled keychain pepper sprays from every gun show they go to. Pretty sure she believes in having one to match every outfit. The other…. Well, she’s solid, and secure.. on her 2nd amendment… we haven’t lost hope yet.lol. There’s always one!

@Diane, sorry in advance but I'm long-winded, especially about women's safety. I've found myself in several "one in a million" /"highly unlikely" scenarios and I've been privileged enough to spar with men of all shapes and sizes that were military, law enforcement etc. I'd like to share some of the things that have served me well. If someone is trying to harm you and they're in front of you: 1) Start with breathing in through your nose and out through the mouth. Most people never realize how much they hold their breaths in a day. The brain needs oxygen to work as efficiently as possible so one can react as quickly and effectively as possible. 2) Do NOT stop moving. If you're still you're going to be easier to harm. 3) Don't focus on how to beat the hell out of whoever is trying to harm you. (I know this sounds like the opposite of what you should be doing but bare with me here.) Instead, focus on one thing: ESCAPE. If your focus harming them, then it becomes a struggle for power. Not sure about you, but I'm short, almost any man is going to be bigger and have more muscle than I do. When people are caught in a struggle ego can easily get the best of someone and that's when mistakes happen and people get hurt. Focusing on escape flips a switch in the brain. Taps into something primal that lives deep within us all. That's when survival instincts kick in and rules fly out the window and you will see just what you're capable of. 4) Most every fight is 2 things: Quick and Dirty. Don't waste time memorizing moves as a response to certain actions. Because they won't always work and whatever part(s) of your body you've used in that counter move can cause parts of you to be more vulnerable to attack if you land off balance. Work with what you've got. Keep it simple. An attacker will give you something to work with. Try to keep your body relaxed as you go because otherwise that tension in the body makes it easier for them to tell when you're about to retaliate and what part(s) of you you'll use to do so. Plus when you're tensed up your body is more likely to get injured. What I'm about to say is messed up but true. The way it was explained to me by a martial arts instructor who was also former military and was a higher up in law enforcement was to think of a car accident. Ever noticed that in those stories how much worse the sober people involved are injured than someone who isn't? Stories of times where people who are drunk have gone through their windshield and survived any way yet others were not so lucky? That's because their bodies were relaxed. So try not to be tense, and focus on breathing and remaining in motion. 5) Get used to the sensation of being hit with various amounts of force. That gets you desensitized so you're less likely to freeze, or tense up if someone lands an unexpected punch. That's why you train with someone you trust. 6) Practice doing things like opening a door without your hands and sparring with someone. Practice doing a drill with them where you'd typically use one part of your body but force yourself to use another part of yourself instead. I once had to practice knife disarming using only legs and feet against a man who was a foot and change taller than me. I've never been a person who throws kicks either because being 5ft 3 my legs aren't that long. If they were faster than I was then I'd find myself at a bit of a disadvantage. Never had to fight with legs and feet before until that day. Also practice sparring with your eyes closed. That way if an attacker throws mud or sand in your eyes or your temporarily blinded you still have something to fall back on to defend yourself. 7) Damned near anything you have on you can be used for either one to defend against an attack or the other to initiate a counter attack. Spend some of your free time regularly thinking about all the different ways something you carry or have in your environment or wear can be used. I've disarmed someone with a knife coming at me (martial arts exercise) with my driver's side window down. Once using my seatbelt. Another time using my body and my steering wheel. A baseball cap using the bill of it, can be used to strike someone's windpipe. Or there's a delightful cluster of nerves located under the nose right between where the bottom of the nose is and the curve of the upper lip that is rather painful when there is any pressure that pushes both in and at an upward angle. The bill of a hat or just hand works nicely there too. 8) If you're just looking for where to hit/target: 1) Eyes 2) Throat 3) Nose 4) Groin - sometimes ladies they leave you no choice. I've got no shame saying that, once I was targeted by a guy that literally had grabbed me by the throat and lifted me off the ground and was trying to force me towards a wooded area when I was at a family friendly campground with friends. I was alone for only a few minutes at most when that dirtbag came at me. In the end I saved myself by grabbing his throat with my left hand digging my nails in and then using my fingertips of my right hand to strike his groin and then turning that into a pinching sort of grab and twisting to the right like I was trying to turn a door knob. He dropped me fast, screaming, looked disgusted and shocked and ended up being taken away by the some of the men in our group that myself and my then boyfriend had been camping with for the night) and he was dealt with through the police. 5) Ears (Hell yes I'm serious. I've been punched there and I can verify that definitely hurts like nobody's business.) 6) If they're tall, I've had a lot of success taking out at least 1 knee of their knees. If you hit the Peroneal nerve hard it makes a person unable to use the leg usually for at least a few minutes. You can't walk on it, let alone chase. So if you can hit that and they're not carrying a gun you can buy yourself at least a few minutes head start to get away from them. 9) Being aware and looking all around you wherever you're at in most cases will keep you from being attacked. Attackers are usually looking for distracted people because they want the easiest targets. I have more tips, but I have already written a novel here. I'll spare readers for now. ;) So, while I hope nobody reading this ever needs to use these tips but if you find yourself in a bad situation I hope that something I've shared helps you live to see another safer, and hopefully much brighter day.

I was stalked twice by men. Once as a 15 year old and once in my mid 20’s. My mother was also stalked and had a home intruder when she was younger.
As a teenager I walked home from my mum’s work which was not far. I was in my school uniform and carrying a backpack and saxophone.
I knew the roads like the back of my hand and a ten minute walk turned into a 45 minute detour with me misleading and eventually losing the man. I never saw him again.
In my 20’s I turned into my street with the man still following me about 90 metres behind. He kept jumping from one side of the street to another. I crouched and hid behind my housemate’s car out of view with my phone on silent and triple 0 on my phone. I waited for 1 hour. Once I’d crouched behind the car and was hidden he came into the street shortly afterwards. He was confused I could see his footsteps and hear him walking along, he eventually left. An hour after he left I went into my house but didn’t turn any lights on. I called the police in the bathroom and waited until they arrived.
My housemates were asleep but I woke them up to let them know the police were coming. I waited in the dark in the bathroom until the police showed up.
I moved a week later and my housemates moved a month later from that location.
I will never walk alone anywhere once the sun goes down.
Now I have a son and I will teach him these tactics as well. I must admit I was relieved when I found out I was having a boy because I thought ‘he’s more likely to get bashed then raped’ how unbelievably horrible is this world that I thought that and that I was relieved for my sons safety?
Thank you so much for your time making these videos ❤

It an American thing, the strollers are constructed that the mom never sees her child and the child never its mom. Its weird. I would like to see how my child is doing all the time while outside. When an insect could hurt it for example, or it eats snd drink to know how its doing and not choking.

Great stuff! 👍 Three basic safety tips that I taught my daughters was to look up and around when they walked (no faces buried in a phone, a book, no preoccupation with their clothes etc.). Also, I told them not to walk next to any kind of van or large vehicle where they could easily be grabbed. The third rule was not to sit alone in a car for quite a while (waiting for someone, playing on phone, just getting away from roommates etc.) It's too easy for someone with a gun to sneak up on them 😮

Always wear a bag or something to put anything in so that your hands are free. That split second it takes to drop your mail or package and go for your weapon adds time to how fast you can draw your weapon. If there is a situation where you are carrying groceries, always make sure you have a second person with you so that one person has their hands free. If you have a partner with a child and they are putting the child into a car seat, stand in front of them with your back to them so that you have one person who has their awareness on the surroundings. Little things like that can save your life.

I am what one would call paranoid because I am consistently watching my surroundings and teaching my children to do the same. Earlier this year a construction van was being strange in the parking lot of the library. I wanted in lobby with my kids. Grabbed car when I felt it was safe. By the time I pulled out the lot they were gone. They never went into library. Days later, I parked right in front of a bright light store. Was in there for 5 minutes or less. When I get back to my car there’s a tissue stuffed inside my driver side door. Very scary.

I was approached by a car walking home for lunch during school. I never forgot it decades later. I remember running for my life towards the school guard. The car sped off but this was in a "so called safe area - the suburbs" Carrying a weapon is a great idea even if it's pepper spray. Learning self defense is great. Also locking your car as soon as you get in, park in a well lit area, shop with others, shop during daylight if possible, for women - use a wristlet...(harder to grab), or a phone case wristlet with a card/some money. Dogs are good if trained properly. Use floodlights and cameras for the house. Don't answer the door to strangers. Don't jog alone (I see this a LOT) outside unless with a group. Don't bike alone either. If you get stuck in a car...call for help on your phone if possible. Don't stand outside the car If you can, try to park in your driveway/garage - not the street. Always lock your car. Drive your kids to school (it's safer even though I walked myself). If they dont, teach them street smarts and have them walk with a group if possible. Don't take Uber or a taxi unless with a group. This is in my opinion. These are some tips I thought of. The woman getting the mail in the video should look at the mail in the house...that guy had the trunk wide open. The second time she saw it...yes always be aware of your surroundings. Run, scream, bite...do anything you have to if in a bad situation. NEVER get to a secondary location. And say you're at a mall and don't feel safe...ask a guard to walk you to your car. Also, I remember a car was following me and I let him pass me then got behind him with my brights on lol...he drove off.

I'm going have to chime in on this topic! First, you nailed it!
I go to the same supermarket a few times a week. Mainly because the manager and I are pals and a couple employees have become good friends.
About two years ago a young gal that works there is walking along the small stripmall where the store is located. Now, I'm 71 years young, and know the streets well. I observe the gal walk from her car along the storefronts, constantly looking at her phone! I roll up along side her a hit the horn. She almost jumps out of her shorts. She laughs, says hello, and tells me I'm crazy. Well, I park the car, in the firelane, (oops), and get out to explain situational awareness. Well, the young gal actually listened! She told the other gals and they actually thanked me. The manager, my shooting pal told me he was always concerned about these kids.
Now several months later I'm at the same store, just before closing. It's dark, I okay attention to what's going on. I hear running footsteps coming fast behind me. I get a glimse of a large guy almost running at me as I'm putting things in the trunk, heck with this this guy's isn't slowing down, coming right for me! I draw my pistol, kept pointed at the ground and put my support hand out and told him to stop!
Well, the guy goes into, "I'm sorry I just need money for some gas"! I told him to leave, which he did and I called 911. Police showed-up, and I explained what happened. Now, I'm in South Broward County, FL. not the most 2-A friendly place. I get lucky a seasoned officer, he takes my report, never heard a word. I called a Sherrif I know and to him the story. He said the guy was part of a "Gypsy" group thst travels the area hitting up folks for gas money. Typically, not dangerous, but I did the right thing.
Young people and SENIORS are considered targets of opprtunity. Old folks not for kidnapping, just an easy mark for cash!
The MAJOR problem is 99.999999% of people, especially ladies cannot keep the face off the phone!
I hope people pay attention to your video and show it to their kids and spouses!
Oh, the 911 call, the FIRST person that calls 911 is typically believed over the other person regardless of who is in the right!
    Best to ya',,,,!

It is better to stay alert, all tactics mentioned are spot on. Changing one's path on a frequent basis is good it might take a little extra time to reach your destination still it is really helpful when you are not accompanied by family, friends or colleagues. I've been following this since my middle school days. Or if you're staying at a place where you don't have several routes or narrow alleys better to be on call with someone such antisocial elements won't even dare to roam around you.

That's no reason to hate anyone but it is a reason to re-examine preconceptions and the blatant sexism in courts and with the police - not least as it damages so many children. I grew up in a foreign country as a kid and I have the tendency to walk all alone on different street. It was all curiosity, little did I know that things can get terribly wrong. One day when I was coming home from a store, for some reason I realized a weird looking man was following me. I didn’t know how I managed to do this but I kept calm and acted that I didn’t saw him, I kept waking like nothing happened. He wasn’t running or anything just walking behind me like couple of feet’s away, waiting for the perfect timing. As soon as I got close to our apartment building, I ran as fast as I can, like this is the last race of my life. I ran all the way and didn’t looked back, ran through the stair case and got into our room.
Even as a grown up man, I was going to work at 5:30 in the morning. A car got pulled up by my side asked me to give me a ride, straight up said NO and started walking. Maybe he was just checking or maybe he have some other intention. Better safe than sorry.

    1) Jiu jitsu isn't as effective in most self defense situations as people think, and wayyyy too many things could go wrong. That said, anything is better than nothing.
    2) Regarding situations like that clip of that girl getting dragged when her neighbors didnt answer the door: folks should be aware that a woman coming to your door like that is a common home invasion setup. It sounds terrible to leave someone begging for help out, but please be careful out there, especially if you live with women and children.

I had just came out of dollar tree when a man who was out of his car standing by it started walking in a diagonal direction to me as I was crossing the parking lot. My 6th sense kicked in and I immediately started yelling “what are you doing!?” As loud as I could cause I saw people in the parking lot. My friend on the phone heard me and I was telling her what was happening. My hands had bags in them so I tried not to panick but I kept saying “I don’t know you” over and over loudly and he responded by saying “you’re crazy lady” yeah but I’m not the one walking to me from an unfamiliar car and person. Not only did I get other peoples attention but I think I freaked him out. To this day I think my instincts were correct. He jumped back in his car and drove off but not before I got his car and plates!! Be vigilant ladies!! He was probably watching me as I walked into the store by myself. Ill definitely be sharing this video with family. I have a 4 year old and i take her with me to the store often, just her and me, im extremely aware of my surroundings as much as i can be. im also aware that there’s very crafty people out there which is why i never let her out of my sight and i never let her even 5 feet away from me. The only time she’s not in sight is when im taking just 1 second to look around to gain awareness, my head is always moving. I live in Mississippi near Hattiesburg and I’ve had 3 very memorable instances where I’ve been followed by men and i know they were following me because i would make crazy routes that make no sense thru the store and they always follow in fact last night it happened again and that was the worst, the guy didn’t even buy anything and every time i would look back at him he was watching me and would look away fast, eventually i turned and stared at him and he stopped and went a different direction. And I’m not necessarily a guy that you want to mess with i have some training in a variety of combative disciplines, so i do have confidence in my self. But like you said it doesn’t always matter. And I’ve talked to people and researched it and there is a trafficking problem in these areas around here.
