Oh wow... 😮 This a least a beat faster than normal.... Just goes to show how good The Commodores are at playing their chosen instruments... Great Band man... ❤
I listened to this song since i was a kid in the 70 and only now that i found out that this was made by the Commodores. Never knew they had a non lyrical song till today. Still great
It's true. This is a 3 chord song, but those three chords are put to fantastic use. So much movement between all the interlocking parts. That's what funk is about.
i'm a '70s/'80s kid and i never get why my so many of my peers insist the '80s were better. the '70s were just fun as hell, across the board, and were far less superficial. the vibe was so right. i do have more '80s albums overall in my pile of music though ¯\_ (ツ)_/¯ ah well none of us are perfect but anyhow i can't imagine anyone outdoing 'songs in the key of life'. at least not in my lifetime. whatever there is left... ope
@@EconAtheist That's probably because your albums from the 70's had one more decade of opportunities to get trashed and thrown away, like me, in the 80's since my Led Zeppelin albums were for the most part already trashed they were far more likely to be sacrificed when I needed an album cover to make a gasket out of for my Harley, I can't think of a better way for one to serve me one last time.
I always felt like this should've been a Top 5 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 (like Billy Preston's "Outa Space" was) but it only peaked at #22 somehow in 1974.
I'm a metal head. Having said that, THIS is my favorite song of all time. This may be thought of as funk but it's actually a metal song masquerading as such. I hope some metal band covers this song properly so we can hear it as it needs to be.
Ya yet right! Listen to k.c. and sunshine band. Get down tonight. Whaddya know, the track is double-sided and its pentatonic scale.... Only one needing drugs are those with tin ears....brain power doesn t 3xist anymore
This particular version is lacking in sound quality, obviously....but the use of the synth is like the 5th Beatle for this number. Similarly, EW and F s version of Gotta Get You Into My Life shines because they happen to specialize with the horn sound....good music has high replay value, irrespective of genre
@@bkkersey93 Hahaha I have no idea why I said that. They're out of sync in a few spots but it's still funky. Mea culpa! I just hope you can find it in your heart to forgive me
Rappers don't play instruments so why are they considered artist. Playing soundtracks while rapping isn't in the conversation of musical artist/ Genious.
One of the best instrumentals ever!
This and Outta Space

So it's October of 2018, and for 44 years this song still has me dancing whenever and wherever. Of course, now I may throw a hip out......
Disco Fever!!! You catch it, then you get better.
The Keyboard player with his back to the drummer - Lionel Ritchie... who also plays Sax :)

"proof enough of how uninspired modern-day so-called funk is by comparison!" - THAT SAYS IT ALL RIGHT THERE! thanks for posting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Now this is TALENT! sadly it's all long gone now.
Dancin my ass off cleaning up my kitchen right now
This song is so much fun! Love it!
I remember this song! So funky. 🥰
I asked Siri to play me something funky and from all the songs ever made she played this....for once she fucking done something right!
Lionel is a talented brother.
This is why the 70's were so much better.
No contest!!

amazing tune

Great of course, but rough from either too much coke or Kirshner's people edited it badly for broadcast.
