Thanks ,you explained to where this 76 year old man understands .Love “ it’s nothing more than a big ass mouse” that puts it in perspective. Again thanks. I’m using a zoom r16 as a recorder of my two keys and vocal and as a mixer to my pa and also as a surface controller into my Linux computer and ardor as my daw. It works flawlessly. Today I added a zoom l12 but it doesn’t work as a surface controller on as a recorder and interface. Again thanks

Mixer: for live stuff like a band or other sound related gear. Can use to mix in studio but will add unique color
Control surface: just a piece of gear like a midi keyboard, used to map digital controls; three types (motorized/unmotorized/Digital, think iPad or slate) coolest feature you can ride the fader while automating
Interface: only a few like UAs Apollo offer dope controls. Not all interfaces have the same parameters
For a long time I wanted to buy a controller but the price of them aren’t worth it in my opinion. I have an m-audio 61 key with a fader on the side. I map the fader to control the fader in my daw. From there I use that one fader to level all my tracks. Not as fancy but it gets the job done. You can use your mouse just as well 🤙

Thank you for this video its opening up new possibilities for my Hybrid setup. Was hoping to ask a question about a possible mixer/midi/audio interface combo. My current setup is a MPC2500 as my main sequencer, SP1200, launchpad Mk37, Model 12 all running into Ableton Lite. I want to keep my MPC as a main controller sequencer with master midi into Ableton for tracking, (stems, mastering) purposes. Alot of my tracks have more than one sequence (some at different tempos) that's why I have the MPC 2500 as the Master sync.
I bought the Model 12 thinking I would be able to solve all of this, but just learned the Model 12 only sends MIDI out (and has a MIDI in port unused? unfortunately smh).
My ideal workflow is to be able sample, make beats on MPC and SP, Use the Launchkey as a MIDI keyboard for Ableton and a Proteous 2000 and being able to seamlessly track everything into Ableton with MPC as the sequencer. Huge Bonus if I can resample from the PC back into MPC (online samples).
Unfortunately the Model 12 is not cutting it as an audio interface and the DAW control is very lacking. I might have to re-sell this unless I am doing something wrong.. What would be the setup / gear you recommend for this?
Should I just purchase a Focusrite into a regular USb mixer (Yamaha mgu12 for example) or is there a hybrid Mixer with Audio and especially midi inputs/outputs just like the Focurite that can solve this entire workflow?
I really appreciate the videos and any tips advice is greatly appreciated!

Certainly your mixer provides L/R stereo out, but does the USB port on the Behringer provide all 8-channels out (so you can track each channel separately in your DAW) or is the USB port providing a stereo mix out?

Any idea if I will be able to set the outputs say voc to 1-2 on the mixer and maybe guitars to 3-4 and just adjust the faders when I want to hear more or less of serving when I am going through the production process?

So do these mixers and surface control interfaces that you use work just like the bigger ones that they use in a professional studio

Yo, thank you for the video. For me as a Beatboxer who´s starting in mixing your content is really helpfull. I have a lil question out of the topic here? Do you .now if Pro Tools works with the new M1 chips from Mac?
I´m looking for a new computer/mac. Know that the new cpu generation from mac is out and way more cheap then the intel mac´s before, i am really thinkin about getting a mac mini. But i read about the fact that a lot of software will not work in the beginning, cause they have to write the program in a different way. So do you know anything about the compability of pro tools with the new m1 chips?

It’s not yet supported for the M1. you will have to wait for avid to release a supported version. They Don’t have an update for supporting Big Sur Intel versions either but for that it at least says “coming soon”. M1 update is much further away.

How do you connect your four monitors together, if I'm using an audio interface and a controller

Love your channel ❤️. Am wondering if i want to output the channel for each instrument from ezdrummer 3 to Studio one 6 because after 16 channels i mean from 1/2 until 31/32 i dont have more channels. As Studio one 6 has 16 channel limit and the ezdrummer 3 mixer has mor than 16 channels..thank you a lot love and peace ✌️ ❤️ 💙
