    Thank you for this explanation but the issue that I have with most UA-cam videos, they address these from the input point of view. Like. recording the drums or guitars or vocals,.which most of bedroom producers hardly do. From a productions stand point, what if I need multiple output to route out to external effects and back to the DAW. The outputs are as important as inputs.

  • @igordrm
    @igordrm 3 роки тому +2

    I don't see reviews going straight forward for considering which is the best option in a specific scenario: usage for digital music production AND live perfomance all in one. So I expended a lot trying to figure it out what to buy according to my needs.
    Are you looking for a gear that fits well digital music produciton and eventually can be taken to a live gig? Do you need an audio interface, but you also have your own DJ gear and you want to have all the necessary equipment for a small party? That was my case and I chose the Yamaga MG10XU, while I was researching a lot on audio interfaces and inclined towards buying the Focusrite Scarlett 4i4.
    I'm into digital music production and DJing and the max I will be recording are my own vocals, with I'm not being concerned about recording multiple tracks separately. So I was looking for an audio interface. Focusrite Scarlett Solo didn't seem fit because it doesn't has headphone volume knob. Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 has the knob, but only two outputs (or one, for a pair of monitors). I needed more outputs, for crowd speakers and booth speakers. Further Focusrite Scarlett's have more outputs, but the they start to get pricy and the outputs are TRS... Since I was needing an audio interface and intend to play live, the Yamaha MG10XU just seemed pefect for me, so I just bought one yesterday. I haven't received it yet, anyways. But the 4 output options (2 stereo outputs), its built-in audio interface, its AC adapter for power supply and, the level meter for the master, the balanced main stereo out XRL outputs, its built-in pre-amplifiers and the fact that it proccessess 24bit/192khz signals was all I needed. And for all that, the Yamaha MG10XU was cheaper than even a Scarlett 2i4.
    I might be wrong here and there, since I've just started building my studio and researching things, but I just hoped to help those who have the same needs as I do.
    Thanks!

    First, I love your channel and your videos. You help me so so much. I’m a old hardware guy who’s just getting back into the mix.
    I like using beatmaker 3 but I want some hardware now. I want to get a midi drum pad controller, a better midi keyboard controller, and maybe add some live instruments, and I want them to all work simultaneously.
    Can I connect the Zoom L 8 to beatmaker 3 and do this? I can’t seem to find not one video of someone connecting a L8 to an iPad and using multiple things in beatmaker 3.
    Can you do one? Lol keep doing good work, you really make a big difference man. I appreciate you. You help me a lot.

    • @MarcusElbow
      @MarcusElbow  2 роки тому +1

      What’s good Brian?! All of this is possible bro but it really comes down to how many inputs you need or want. The L8 has only 6 inputs so this could limit you if you need more. Zoom does make a L12 that could get the job done tho!
      You could easily use one of these zoom usb mixers with and iPad and hook up live gear and mics. The ipad will recognize these mixers as an audio interface.
      Good luck my brother!! 🙏🏾👊🏾🙏🏾👊🏾

      Hi Julie, 🤔 well I would connect my Mic or Mics up to the Y-MG and then run the stereo outs of the Y-MG to the Solo’s inputs and then connect the solo to my cpu. This way you maintain great control over your mic inputs the effects and so on….and only use the solo as the bridge to the cpu software. I Hope this helped. 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾

And Device Model Mixer ASIO, Input Model Mixer ASIO in dropdown (which is my model 12). That's the setup I have, and it works. MPC X is also hooked up to computer and nothing else is hooked up tp MPC X. It still works like this in controller mode. I can't get audio output from MPC X to anything like discord, or skype, but I can hear it from model 12 in my setup???? Can You help me figure this out Man??? The Focusrite Audio Interface is a good option. There are lots of reviews and tutorials online. I almost bought one of these to record home demos (guitars, bass, keys, percussion, vocals) using Garageband on my MacBook. Yesterday Musician's Friend had a Harbinger usb mixer L1402fx on sale so I bought it instead. I can still record to the MacBook but I can also use the L1402fx performing live.

      @@shawndoe6843
      In the late 90's I used a 4 track recorder to record 18 or so songs that I had written. I usually started with a rhythm guitar and then added a lead vocal. Then, a guitar solo and/or other instruments and backing vocals. These are considered layers. Then one mixes down to the final mix what, what you hear on an album.

    • @mattmcclain829
      @mattmcclain829 3 роки тому +1

      In those days, and with only 4 tracks, I certainly did not layer one instrument multiple times though. Here's a good quick video on layering:
      ua-cam.com/video/673R2Ht3g58/v-deo.html

    • @AllonsyAlonsoJazz
      @AllonsyAlonsoJazz 3 роки тому +3

      @@shawndoe6843 To put it more simply. You can't use a single track to make a song. In the old days they needed to record several instruments on a single track but nowadays you can record every instrument in different track. Imaging layering as a painting. You start with a base, usually bass or drums, and you start the coloring, maybe with a guitar, or a keyboard. That is layering.
      If you record on an interface with 2 tracks, you can record 2 tracks at the same time and treat them separately, that would be layering 2 tracks but you need to build more.
