Jannie, great little project. I was impressed with lettering. The fonts were preserved through the burning process. I guess that just comes with practice. I’m a neophyte pyro, but I’ll keep trying.
Thanks. Noob leathercrafter here. The carbon paper seems way easier than the traditional case the leather, trace pattern onto tracing film, then trace onto the cased leather as if leather carving. I got a Red Bird Trade Etsy leather corset pattern and she burns to look like bark. Oh well, did it the hard way. Wonder how my tracing grooves will look in the end.
Do you have any dos & don't for beginners? Or like any videos for those who are BRAND new to it? This is the first time I'm coming across you page & I love the break down on this video

@ I do wish you went a little more in depth on the specifics of leather burning rather than wood working in that video though. Like what finishes for leather would be best? What leather paints would you recommend? Any dos & donts? I've seen some people wet their leather first why do they do that? I'd like a leather specific FAQ video
Oil and wax for leather. You might want to see this video with different sealants for different projects: The Best Sealants & Finishes for Pyrography & Wood Burning Art ua-cam.com/video/8WK1B1dw7_U/v-deo.html Hope that helps!
It needs to be vegetable tanned leather. If you can’t verify that it’s veg tan, then it’s possible, you could be burning dyes that create toxic chemicals and you don’t want to breathe that in. If you want THIS wallet, I have the overstock boxes in my Etsy shop.🔥 Here’s the link: redroofbarn.etsy.com/listing/1570568756
You can try that, but most people already have it too hot and are just not moving slowly enough. Before you crank the heat anymore, try slowing down and making sure the burner has enough contact with the wood. Then when you have little skips that resist the burn, go back in with the touch or the swing stroke to fill those in. If you don’t know what those are, you can check out my video on woodburning techniques for beginners. 👍
Hi Jenny , I'm a Leather Engineer from Bangladesh. I love your beautiful pyrography work on leather. Your tutorial made me electrified to do that. How can I get the tools (ballpoint, knife etc.) you use here.

They say most finishing oils are great, but an oil and wax mix is best to keep the leather waterproof, not just moisturized. Here’s a link to a good brand I like to use when I’m not using my homemade stuff: amzn.to/4hh7MBb

Love it! Whats a good resource to buy bulk leather items like Journals or maybe bookmarks?
I source mine from Etsy Please stop please stop please🔥🙌
Looks super fun burning on leather - never done it! Do you use same heat level as you would on soft wood?
Pretty much! I usually start a little lower though to make sure it’s not too hot 🙌🔥
What type of finish do you reccomend?

@@BurnSavvy thank you so much for the feedback and the suggestion.
If my lines are sort of spotty or bumpy (I’m not quite sure the correct adjective to use) - should I turn up my temp a bit?
