Lily is pretty infamous for being litigious and underhanded, using harassment campaigns on pretty much anyone that annoys her. It's pretty impressive that she's doing all of this essentially right after the JoonTheKing video. Absolutely wild. From everything I've seen, having just gotten into the Lily Orchard rabbit hole recently, it genuinely feels like she's just feeding off of the attention at this point. It's hard to imagine that she actually takes anything that she says seriously, but I also know that she does, because nearly everything she thinks in regards to fiction comes at a very unique and stubborn outlook that somehow every facet of fictional presentation is Wrong and her view of it is Right. It's a very strange worldview she takes on, and I can't help but think that it just comes from a lack of exposure and critical thinking skills that bubbled up and never faced any challenges early on in her life, and now she's essentially taking that very childish view of fiction where she conflates Objective Quality with Her Own Opinion and doesn't understand that a majority of people just disagree with her on a fundamental level. It's very odd. I think it's safe to say everyone has their own particular tastes, very clearly, but I also think that she's far less interested in actually holding to those opinions beyond bashing other people and cultivating what's essentially a cult of personality around her personality and presentation, more than her actual thoughts and feelings. Robobuddies has done a few crappy things as well (that Growing Around stream was like school bully levels of mean, regardless of what you think of Mr Enter or his book), but unlike with Orchard I remember thinking her critique on Steven Universe was mostly fair, even if I don't think that show and some of the examples of "doing it right" she cited are really all that comparable in terms of style.
btw Red (robobuddies) goes by they/them now and has spoken about regretting their time as a youtuber, they've said that SU video was a mistake that contained misinformation. Obviously it's still fine to talk about and criticize their old content, I'm just putting this out there for anyone who doesn't know that they've denounced it.
All you need to know about Lily Orchard is that one line at about 10 minutes in: "These guys are bigots and I'm not, there's the difference." Anyone who disagrees with her is a bigot, and therefore she's able to do or say anything against them because "turnabout is fair play." I was DuckDuckGoing "I like writing, but hate reading" a few days ago, though in retrospect that's a strong way of putting it because I really have anxiety for reading & finishing books in my recent efforts (in addition to being busy & difficulty focusing on classwork in general), and saw a response to a Reddit post saying "it sounds a lot like 'I love talking, but I hate listening '", and how it entails a level of selfishness. They peddle some kind of "intellectual" intelligence while spitting on emotional intelligence, as bobvids said in "CinemaSins is (Still) Terrible".
I think a huge chunk of it is that UA-cam's algorithm doesn't distinguish haters from fans? Engagement will continue to steadily funnel new people towards your channel--no matter who that engagement came from. Those people who just see a Steven Universe video come up as a recommendation don't have any idea what's going on. Then those creators get the chance to frame whatever they're doing as virtuous before these new viewers know what really happened. If they even try to do that--the reason Lily is *so* widely disliked is probably because she doesn't just ignore the whole controversy and winds up reversing the effect towards her own critics.

Lily is pretty infamous for being litigious and underhanded, using harassment campaigns on pretty much anyone that annoys her. Sorry you have to deal with this, but hopefully telling others that the source of these claims is Lily Orchard will diffuse the credibility of her statements, considering she's also infamous for ripping a lot of her jokes and video formats from other creators, to the point where it teeters the line between homage and copying. She also used people's art without crediting the artists and claimed that "entitled artists aren't owed credit" as justification. I don't know if she still does this or not, but point is: she's the last person someone should believe for claims like this.
There was a story a while back where she bullied a teenager, just for asking that her work be credited in future videos or otherwise not used. She kept yelling at her and said the only way she would stop is if the kid sent a copyright claim. Obviously you can't just strike a video for reasons like that, but she said this multiple times to a distressed kid being harassed by an army of strangers. After Lily baited her into doing this, she of course spread the story as "this evil artist is false copyrighting my work for no reason" to various parts of the internet like Reddit, and eventually forced the *artist* to make an apology video for daring to ask for credit on her work.

It feels like she's trying to get you somerton'd while completely missing the point of /why/ that expose was so devastating- because Hbomberguy came in with a mountain of evidence. He found the specific plagiarized content, he found the sources, he showed them side by side, and was even able to illustrate just how much of the content was plagiarized.
Plagiarism is an extremely serious allegation to throw out for a youtuber, and a potentially career ending one for a professional writer, she doesn't understand that she can't just say it and make it magically be true. Not only will people not believe her without the proof to back it up, it'll tank her already deeply negative reputation even further.
So to Lilly: A video going over some tweets while another video going over the same tweets that has been out for much longer is plagiarism.

From everything I've seen, having just gotten into the Lily Orchard rabbit hole recently, it genuinely feels like she's just feeding off of the attention at this point. It's hard to imagine that she actually takes anything that she says seriously, but I also know that she does, because nearly everything she thinks in regards to fiction comes at a very unique and stubborn outlook that somehow every facet of fictional presentation is Wrong and her view of it is Right. It's a very strange worldview she takes on, and I can't help but think that it just comes from a lack of exposure and critical thinking skills that bubbled up and never faced any challenges early on in her life, and now she's essentially taking that very childish view of fiction where she conflates Objective Quality with Her Own Opinion and doesn't understand that a majority of people just disagree with her on a fundamental level. It's very odd. I think it's safe to say everyone has their own particular tastes, very clearly, but I also think that she's far less interested in actually holding to those opinions beyond bashing other people and cultivating what's essentially a cult of personality around her personality and presentation, more than her actual thoughts and feelings. She's just a very lonely and sad person, and on some level I can't help but feel for her as someone who's also trans and neurodivergent.
But being lonely and sad doesn't mean she can't be an atrocious person that I would hope to never interact with. Looking forward to more content about this whole situation. Gotta make the best of life's headaches.

Robobuddies has done a few crappy things as well (that Growing Around stream was like school bully levels of mean, regardless of what you think of Mr Enter or his book), but unlike with Orchard I remember thinking her critique on Steven Universe was mostly fair, even if I don't think that show and some of the examples of "doing it right" she cited are really all that comparable in terms of style.
btw Red (robobuddies) goes by they/them now and has spoken about regretting their time as a youtuber, they've said that SU video was a mistake that contained misinformation. Obviously it's still fine to talk about and criticize their old content, I'm just putting this out there for anyone who doesn't know that they've denounced it.
All you need to know about Lily Orchard is that one line at about 10 minutes in: "These guys are bigots and I'm not, there's the difference."
Anyone who disagrees with her is a bigot, and therefore she's able to do or say anything against them because "turnabout is fair play." Regardless of if her own actions conflict with her own stated beliefs and morals, regardless of if she has directly criticized others for doing the exact same thing she is now doing.
It's peak narcissism, "rules for thee and not for me," she will never have the maturity or emotional awareness to self reflect in any capacity. She will always be the hero of her story who can do no wrong, and everyone else is a bigot so she's justified in doing or saying whatever abhorrent shit she wants.

I was DuckDuckGoing "I like writing, but hate reading" a few days ago, though in retrospect that's a strong way of putting it because I really have anxiety for reading & finishing books in my recent efforts (in addition to being busy & difficulty focusing on classwork in general), and saw a response to a Reddit post saying "it sounds a lot like 'I love talking, but I hate listening '", and how it entails a level of selfishness. How someone can go on and on but can't stand other people's "nonsense".
It's the same reason why CinemaSins & Nostalgia Critic's "The Wall" are so bad. They peddle some kind of "intellectual" intelligence while spitting on emotional intelligence, as bobvids said in "CinemaSins is (Still) Terrible".

I think a huge chunk of it is that UA-cam's algorithm doesn't distinguish haters from fans? Engagement will continue to steadily funnel new people towards your channel--no matter who that engagement came from. Those people who just see a Steven Universe video come up as a recommendation don't have any idea what's going on. Then those creators get the chance to frame whatever they're doing as virtuous before these new viewers know what really happened. If they even try to do that--the reason Lily is *so* widely disliked is probably because she doesn't just ignore the whole controversy and winds up reversing the effect towards her own critics.
I find that funny, considering that she herself lifted a lot of her early material from Yahtzee and Moviebob...
