Also, Gun and Bow have a 100% application rate for status so they are the Goto option for status builds. On the other hand, theres an amazing para glaive thats sooooo much fun to use, 11/10 would recommend.

Another thing to note is that Monsters have hidden "Hit Points" against statuses. The so called build up.
Doing enough status damage then triggers the effect.
But afterwards the monster has even more HP against that status effect meaning you need to deal more status damage to the monster making it harder.
You also want to be actively attacking the monster as much as possible as the monster slowly regenerates status damage.
