Your wrong about keeping your knees slightly bent. lock them out
What straps/back pack system are you running to carry the stand? I have the xop gamma but I like the look of that one!
It’s the TX5 strap system!
I hunt very similar with my LWCG .5 and one stick. Spikes are illegal to use in Ohio, Ky, and TN so one sticking is the next best thing. Rappelling out of the tree has to be the best/safest way to come down as well!
Absolutely the safest easiest way out of the tree in my opinion!
I have always thought it was illegal to use spikes on live trees on WMA's and Gov't land in Georgia, so after hearing you say it was legal in Georgia, I went to the regs hoping you were correct. On the top right of page 38 it states: .
No carving, cutting, chopping or damaging of live or standing trees. Unfortunately, spikes damage trees and I am pretty sure they are not legal on Public Land. If I am wrong, can you point me in the direction that I can see where it is legal?
I have asked 3 DNR rangers about it in my area, and all of them have told me I am good to go. 👍🏻
Also, they do no more damage to a tree than sticks or a climber. So, if your looking at it that way, technically anything we use to hunt is illegal.
That's not quite true. I've been an ISA Certified Arborist for almost 30 years and know a little bit about tree biology. Didn't comment to argue with you. Just trying to get some clarification. Thanks for responding@@georgiapublicproject5578
No problem! Thanks for watching! Appreciate it!
Very nice setup! The hybrid game is where it’s at. I run the XOP Mondo you won’t regret it if you go that route.
What backpack straps are you running on your Cold World?
They are the TX5 custom straps!
I like how fast and easy you made it look when you scaled down the deer. I think it is an awesome setup.
It really is a great set up! Thanks for watching!
I like the unique and efficient combination of styles in your set up. Mine is similar, instead of climbing spikes, I use a 4--12' extension pole with a custom slide on hook which I can hook on any good branch up to about 20 feet in one set. With my rig I'm 20 feet up working on hanging my stand in about a minute, of course my style does require good anchor branches within the 20 foot reach.
That’s super cool! Hard to find really solid branches in GA at 20ft. Most of the big branches are at 30-40ft. We would love to see a video of your set up though, sounds awesome!
@@georgiapublicproject5578 I'm up just across the border from northeast Wisconsin. Lots of shorter, fatter trees up here 😁 I'll send you a link when I get a production grade rig finished in a couple weeks. My original is a glorified meat hook with a 3" piece of 1/2" id black pipe welded to it . All it has to do is connect to a Caribbeaner, and have a tube to slide off an extension pole. Reach up and hook it in. I use a 22" T bar with a ropeman1 on it for a slide up or down step. Madrock safeguard on my saddle.
Very quick, efficient setup. Definitely have to have confidence in the tree spikes.
You got that right!
Really neat set up. Definitely thinking outta the box
It’s worked well for me this year!
Great setup, but how do you setup on trees with big branches?
Good question. I normally put my tether (repel rope) above the branch, and then disconnect my linesman’s rope and go around the branch. Thanks for watching!
@@georgiapublicproject5578 but if that's the case, how do you get your rope down with trees having branches? Sorry for asking so many questions.
I just pull it out of the tree with my pull up rope. I have a carabiner on the end of my pull up rope that connects to my repel rope. You just have to watch out for trees that have really tight crotches in the branches because sometimes your rope can get stuck!
Awesome setup man! I was curious and thought about texting you to see what you were running this year. I have LWCG 1.0 and thought about trying to climb with spurs with it!
Do it man! You won’t regret it!
@georgiapublicproject5578 what spurs are you running?
What’s the learning curve like with spurs?
It’s really not that bad. Just be sure to practice at a safe distance. Climbing down is more challenging than up. A buck squeeze would be the safest option for you, especially while learning. I recommend repelling down vs trying to climb down with spikes!
ClimbRight Aluminum Tree Gaffs
Pretty cool concept brother! Been debating on this or one sticking been stuck between decisions
If your a big guy like me, 1 sticking is not super fun 😂
What kind climbing spikes
Climb Right Aluminum tree gaffs, they are linked in the description!
Sweet setup, what pack is that attached to the stand?
It’s the badlands monster fanny pack! I will probably be changing that part up this year. Haven’t figured out what I am going to change to yet though!
@@georgiapublicproject5578 sorry i meant back pack straps lol, i like how the have padding but are still minimalist in a way!
