This was a great video man! love the details you put into it! Also, your dad is really cool, he's really intelligent and can tell that he takes pride in his son and what you do for him.
2.5 gigabit ethernet ports are a nice to have, but not a necessity. To get a 2.5 gigabit port to work at full speed, everything needs to support that speed. this includes the cabling of your home network and the router has to have 2.5 gigabit lan ports. Most folks home networks really can't do it because the router only has gigabit ports or the cabling falls short. 1 gigabit ethernet is fine.
@madksp I went Nvidia because he needs stability and proformence for work. If he was only gaming, I would've gone with the 7900 gre. The psu I was a mistake on my part, I sent him the wrong link instead of 850 Watt. The 750 psu is fine, but I'll probably upgrade to 1000 Watts later because he deserves the best.
@michaszewczak7392 Good point. I should have mentioned what he uses his pc for. He uses his pc for virtual machines, video editing, and work. The ram and storage are needed for VMs, and having a ton of google chrome tabs open.
@michaszewczak7392 Most of his applications utilize Intel, so it made more sense to go with Intel, plus we got a great deal for it at $260. Compared to 5950x, that's the price at $349. I'll probably pick up a 5950x since it makes more sense for my workload.
The Costco pc was better it was a 7800x3d on the new am5 platform. He would be able to upgrade for the next five years instead you gave him a processor on a dead intel platform
Great build and I appreciate the nice father son relationship. Keep up the good work.
