I have a XS Max. A12 Bionic chip. It’s actually working really well. Apple will probably stop support for this phone by the end of this year. But it had full support for 6 years and that’s not bad.
the screen is LCD not OLED which is why its rubbish - could tell when you turned the phone on cos the background around the apple logo should be inky black as the pixels would be off but it was backlit.
Apple only started using OLED on their iPhone 12 models. LCD displays, like the original display from apple can and do look good, yeah OLED is better with its individually lit pixels, but thats just a low quality aftermarket display.
When it says Face ID issue only, it means that it was replaced, while when it says a TrueDepth camera problem it means that all the components are original but the TrueDepth camera is dead (and it can be fixed in this case)
I bought an XS Max a few months ago and the screen had been replaced by the previous owner, it must have been and LCD screen because that thing was so brittle, i rested my knee on it (i didn't know it was there) when trying to reach for my laptop on my bed and the thing popped and the screen shattered so bad as if i had thrown it from the eiffel tower. I was completely done at this point as it was my second iPhone in the space of 6 months (the iPhone X screen just stopped responding to touch even though the screen still receives alerts and stuff) so i listed it on eBay for a really low price and someone bought it and had it fixed within a day. The XS is great to use in everyday life and i never had any issues with it until the screen smashed like that, i'm glad it's getting another year of iOS updates because i feel like the X and XS are more than capable of keeping up with today's needs.
I use to have the iPhone 6 and use it as my main phone back in 2023, and after I realise that it has to be retired because a lot of apps need to be run on ios 16 so I had to change and I bought the iPhone 12 256gb with 100% battery health and here we are today, still on the iPhone 12 and planning to probably get the iPhone 16 when it comes out.
Seven years actually. And my theory is that the iPhone XR and XS series are going to get iOS 19 along with the iPhone 11 series, iOS 20 will drop both devices I'm assuming. But that will mean the iPhone XR and XS series will have gotten eight years of support. Along with the iPhone 11 series which will have gotten seven years of support and the SE two which will have gotten 6 1/2 years of support. The iPhone 12 series will likely be dropped with iOS 21.

3D touch was removed from the iPhone XR, while the XS and XS max still had it, no iPhones after the XS have 3D touch, only haptic touch. Force touch is on Apple watches.

It could have to do with the aftermarket screen, the XR had its screen replaced but Best Buy replaced it so it should be an official Apple screen. Edit: also, the iPhone XS mainly just brought the A12 Bionic over the A11 Bionic in the iPhone X and an extra gig of RAM, and along with the XR stereo recording. Of course now the phone is getting two more years of software support over the iPhone X. Kind of sucks that that phone was off with iOS 16 because I feel like the iPhone 8 series and iPhone X should've gotten iOS 17 and then gotten dropped with iOS 18. But iOS 16 is a pretty good spot to end on because you have access to Notes locked with a device passcode and the new HomeKit architecture. And also, I think that Apple has been putting the exact same stereo microphone in all of its iPhones since the iPhone XR and XS series. They maybe changed a little bit but it sounds pretty much the same.
I bought 2 iPhone XS for 40 euro,the screen and battery are original,battery from one is 79 and from the other one 88,but the screens are cracked but works
Thing i hate about iPhones is no matter how old the display all looks the same. Just a bunch of icons. Wish they would allow more customization. (Yes I’m on ios18, it’s still 🗑️ )
The lag is probably because something is wrong with the screen, I could see it before you slowed it down. I have promotion on my iPad but not iPhone, and the 60 fps is not THAT slow, I cant tell much a difference just looks a little smoother
I gave my old XS max to my mom. It's barely usable, apple artificially slowing down the phone. And it heats up a lot. And drains battery constantly tho it still have 85% battery health
Although getting iOS 18 is it true 2025 is its last year being supported? I still have mine laying around and curious about security updates going forward.
There was a recall on IPhone 11 4 Phones manufactured between November 2019 and May 2020. I had an IPhone and had a ton of issues. If you get try to avoid one better those dates.

Yes, I could tell right off the bat that the screen was an LCD. That was my first indication that the screen was not authentic.

incorrect it can also mean that the face id got damage, that could be anything from water to snow to dust.

It's good price for a iPhone that's from a 2018 and I think if the face id working the feature I would miss the most from the newer phone is magsafe

Got XS Max still and it still works great but its due for a battery replacement (72% battery health) drains after 3 hours which is very bad
