Special Thanks to Steve Brickman for additional camera work.
i used to listen to this everyday after it came out. I was in college for jazz guitar and it opened my mind up to how you can play duo with different instruments. This is beautiful and nostalgic
This composition is just so beautiful. The harmony….
I’d like to be a jazz master one day. No music master spreading beauty and joy to anyone that hears our sound
I'm stoked for everyone who plays the bassoon right now.
I was just thinking the same lol. Beautiful instrument
Just heard this for the first time at 2 AM half drunk - my ass is blown away...
My daughter, who is twelve, just started on bassoon. It's nice see it used this way. Bravo.
Ahhhh the sound of unison notes between air instruments and guitar strings is truly something else.
I hear so much sax and less often clarinet, you almost never hear a bassoon soloist. This is great!
I continue coming back to this after months; the natural chemistry with Lage is just too much. I think Julian's sensibilities are near perfect for playing with horn players. Would be stunning to see an extended performance of you two.
I’m years into this one
The acoustics of that room sound really nice. Julian lives in a dope apartment building lol.
Even his apartment is so musical, damn BOE
Please more things like this. So beautiful.
One of my top twenty videos in UA-cam (and I have thousands bookmarked/saved)
Almost a "Live from Home" performance - before we needed Live from Home. Very nice!
Very beautiful. Most jazz bassoon performances I listened to had that curio aspect like in "look, you can do that on a bassoon, too". But here, as it makes sense for the instrumentation, it is just- beautiful music. Cheers from a fellow bassoon player!
Incomprehensibly good. You both painted such beautiful pictures
Made me feel good. All I want from music these days. Thanks!
Julian ALWAYS blows my mind.
always coming back to this
Everything Julian has done lately has just blown me away. Also Ben's other video with Gilad Hekselman equally amazing (and let's be real, this whole album). But yeah, I just agree with you.
Same tbh
Wow. One of the most beautiful things I've ever heard.
This is such a gorgeous composition. That guitar tone compliments the timbre of the bassoon perfectly.
I listen to this a few times a week. It's so expressive.
I can't describe what makes me feel this song.
Julian Lage's playing is just incredible! Wendel's too ofc, also great composition!
Quand 2 musiciens extra-ordinaires se retrouvent pour jouer ensemble, le résultat ne peut qu'être divin!
i am always moved by this piece and it is a must-seen video for all my pupils in our music school :) really beautiful music, so kind and delicate that it can make people better
I don't care what some of y'all think of the bassoon; this performance is hot!!!
This is the modern way of introducing Chamber Music, Love it!!!
Badass
Amazing, the guitar sounds great with any instrument.
So cool ...only bassoon and guitar together...awesome sound mix..love it
I think July just became my new favorite season.
sounds like some video game music where id be roaming through the forest in like skyrim, i love everything julian does this is very expressive and the big bold open voicing chord progressions paired with that near perfect bassoon tone make this very delightful to listen to
Love this, reminds me Oregon! Very nice playing!
Wow, super cool! Puts in mind of the group Oregon...
Beautiful music. The musicianship is absolutely fitting to present it. Julian Lage is truly an innovator as to his approach of the guitar. Thanks to Ben Wendel for the writing of a beautiful piece and making that instrument truly soar.
Beautiful work, the composition of the 12 seasons was perfectly created for the 12 musicians that play with you Ben, congratulations!
Bassoon is new instrument for me, love it.
Sounds so wooden and natural.
Absolutely beautiful. I always find myself here when I can’t sleep or I just need to relax.
Making me want to get a bassoon...
Great music by great musicians. And I really liked bassoon
Beautiful, great compositions, outstanding playing - now I want a bassoon!
Nice work. Just what I needed after waking up from a bothersome dream.
I just stumbled across this! Wonderful!
Simply gorgeous, the sound of this duo!
Reyi Torres, it's a 1997 Linda Manzer "Blue Note".
Pasan algunos días y vuelvo a escucharlo, hermosa música! Gracias Ben y Julian, puro corazón.
What an inspired idea doing "seasons" with other great musicians. Brilliant stuff Ben.
Love the project! This duet rocks as far as this kind of music rocks . . . (in it's own special way)
truly a masterpiece
sounds good during winter
Hello again, love this, I just keep coming back. Thanks for this great music!!
This is without question the best sounding guitar I have heard in many years . Much credit to Linda Manzer. If I had the money .
Julian sounds wonderful on any guitar he touches.
Beautiful! I like the counterpoint thing going on a lot!
Amazing duo
Fantastic. More of this, please!
In a word? Brilliant!!
A new type of Simon & Garfunkel... YES!
I didn't know Dennis from Always Sunny played bassoon so well.
Does Ben Wendel only do magnificent stuff??
Wonderful wending..
This is my favorite one yet! Nice job guys!
Gorgeous piece. Stunning!
Graet music, wonderfull musicians!!! thanks to share it
In the description : ""Ben Wendel - Saxophone". Maybe you should say it's a bassoon. I supposed it could be instructive for many youtube listeners who doesn't know this instrument quite rare except in symphonical ensemble.
Love the piece! Very emotional!
Very inspirational!
I've been a classical bassoonist of some repute for many years, and most Jazz bassoonists don't have very good sounds....but you are an exception (along with a few others)......wonderful work....keep it up!!!!
i love this but, and i mean no disrespect, sounds like august to me
jajjajajajaj i love you jajaj
It does go beyond expectation.
Ahead of its time, yes?
Gio Belen nice one
actually when I was looking for this clip I could not remember the name and typed in 'August'
what a beautiful piece.
Amazingly beautiful!
Exquisite!!
Beautiful piece and wonderful playing.
Absolutely Fantastic. Bravo
What a great tone! What a beautiful piece of music!
Beautiful!
beautiful song
I'd love to hear Julian and Ben play a Metheny tune. Any would be fine but something from off ramp or even bright size life would be great.
amazing music
Magic Duo, love it
Bravo.
4:11 that slightly late root note in the guitar fucks
So beautiful, love it! Thanks for sharing!
EVERYTIME
That was lovely.
Que preciosa musica , y que bien expresada , y fantastica la sonoridad de la combinacion del viento madera con la guitarra acustica. Excelente, es como aire fresco .
Magnífico, del carajo.
Just jammin that was Great
I love it so much! You two blend so amazing together! And Ben, even on a bass bassoon (correct me if I'm wrong) you sound great! It's 10:00PM and i'm taking out my sax to transcribe your solo right now! Love it!!!
One year later and I still love it SO much!!
@@quinnrehkemper1213 did you get it down? It's incredible
This is great. Just great and very inspiring.
❤️😭 this is so beautiful 😍
Wow this absolutely incredibly beautiful!
Wonderful!
Masterful.
I enjoy the fact that Julian doesn't use pedals or for the most part
great and musical -

Is that a Manzer ? Unusual finish !
Awesome!
