    Really nice set up. In particular you have the 'pusher' indexing the actual tooth to be ground. Many I have seen index the tooth before. If that tooth is somehow different in shape/size it will impact on the tooth to be ground. I am about to make one and will incorporate the method you use.
    Thanks for putting this out there.

      You are observant. That is the reason I did it the way I did. I will day I have resharpened a lot of blades with this setup. It works very well. You just let it go, take your time and you'll have a nice new blade.

    Congratulations for presenting a clear and useful view of your machine; one of the best for this kind of machine. l so noticed that it sharpens blade a bit differently and this is useful for my purposes Thanks

    Beautiful, I love it when a plan comes together! Now I'm thinking about changing how I sharpen chainsaw chains! 😂

      You could build a similar setup for chain saws. Would actually be a little less complicated.

    This pink aluminum oxide grinding wheel looks good to sharp the bandsaw teeth, and this machine is fantastic.

    Good job how did you scale the cam for the grinding wheel up and down did you just play with it a bit or have a pattern??!!??

    • @whistle3man
      @whistle3man  3 роки тому +2

      There is some good information on the internet on how to develop a cam you have to know first the geometry you're trying to copy which you can get off the saw blade and then there are slick easy ways to develop the cam. It consists of drawing some concentric evenly space circles and some radial even space lines and then connecting the points with a line called a spline which represents the geometry of the sawtooth that line then becomes your cam. I still made three before I got exactly what I wanted but the first one was close.

    Looks great! Been kicking around the idea of building one to sharpen blade for my Woodmizer sawmill. I like the idea of using a tool post grinder for the spindle unit and building it all on a vertical plate. Using a full radius wheel like that would make it easy to find a CBN wheel to fit it too. I may have to steal your ideas.

    Can you tell me what model Themac grinder you used on the machine and what size spindle shaft it has? I'd like to find one that would accept a standard 1 1/4" wheel adapter but that might be difficult. I've been looking around at grinders but unless you get a really large one they mostly have pretty small spindle shafts. Thanks
