This version is much easier to adjust because his cam is much larger diameter than others and the fulcrum distance to the lifting arm looks to be 4x. The larger cam wheel mean he can make finer adjustments to the cam reducing the danger of taking too much off ruining it. He also exemplifies here the importance of easy cam wheel removal for adjustments. The push rod design he made is so simple, easy to fabricate. Easy to forget how much thought went into making it appear simple. Noted also looks like he is using a 3/16 thick wheel and you can see he dressed the leading edge of the wheel a bit to clear the back of the tooth. Well done. Now then, that chainsaw grinder... The price of these here in canada has shot up to $200 ! I placed an ad on craigslist to try to find a used one. So far a week later, none available.
I made some thing same after watching your video, the placement and orientation of the components is same as I see in the video. I watched the video so many times it is now memorised by heart. There was a big disappointment when I tried my first blade, you know I had to turn the blade inside out and do the same after sharpening. It was an excellent job done. Then I thought that if I had made it all in opposite I would not have to turn the blade inside out, my bandsaw upright column is on the left side very very common orientation. Want to know more about this but I am happy with this blade turning exercise since I am getting such good sharp blades. Best build yet, I have a Frontier 0S27 and do woodwork, my neighbor does welding and had all the scrap parts you used. I received my cam motor, bearings and other nessities yesterday and he has almost completed the base so I should have a working sharpener soon. Thank you so much

I have built one similar to this .. differences are 30rpm synchronous motor and the motor mount that bolted to the deck qith slots for moving the motor assembly back for profiling a different cam (I have 3 cams working and a 3th yet to do. Cams are for: woodmizer 10/30 (most used), woodmizer 737 10*, 1" wide 3/4" spacing Lenox profile, and last one for my blade collection will be for Ripper37s.

Hey man! you did a great job. when you see the price here in France for a sharpening,It gives you the opportunity of saving money. Here,one sharpening cost 28 Euros...and one blade cost about 75 Euros. You sharp it three times and you can buy a new blade or something else. And as we say in the south of France :" tu t'es pas levé un cul pour rien!!" Encore Bravo, I run to my workshop to manufacture my own machine. Thank you very much "In net we trust!!!" .

Do you have to shave down the cam after each sharpening? Or do you just raise the bed that the blade runs on a smidge? I ask because I suppose if you for example go all the way around the blade and start again where you began it won't grind anymore. So in the same way if you come back and put the blade in again in the same spot later it also won't grind anything away.

Satisfying artwork for DIY engineers. I'd like to see a Hammer and Anvil version that sharpens by flattening the tooth to a chisel point and doesn't start cracking in the gullet. When EV Trucks get going, (or we might have to refurbish our own preferred Classic), a Bandsaw with twin Electric Motors is on my list of projects, so many ways to use Electric Tools and not breath bad stuff. Because a 4WD has the front wheels turn a touch faster than the rear, to protect the differentials from backlash and overstrained drive trains, ..so the same thing happens in a Bandsaw blade, if you want evenly loaded cutting tips, less shock-stress on the bottom of individual teeth in the gullet. Maybe. Computer Modelling research required. Someone, a DIYer first probably, has to do this.

Awesome build....I ordered a small motor with like that but it came in as 4 times smaller than yours....I believe it was a 6 mm shaft and flange...way to small...do you have the measure ts or a link to that motor and flange, I would love to build one ASAP....thanks for your time

Wo Needs A Bandsaw Blade Sharpener I Use A 3 Sided File. I've Used A 3 Sided File On circular Saws Carpenter Saws Jigsaw Blades Multi Tool Saw Blades Hole Saw Blades.
Some pro tips! 1st. you don't have enough head tilt! Increase it even more! 2nd. The pusher starts pushing too early. He slowed it down a little more, only a little later to start thrusting. the 3rd. A true technically competently designed grinding machine always works with two pushers! With one pusher you accumulate error! After 3-4-5 sharpenings of the band it will mess up the pitch of the teeth and the teeth will be different heights and the band will stop cutting! the 4th. At the back of the hinge, try to install small bearings, because there are probably bushings and there is play in them! This loofah will lose the front corner of your tooth! I'm using google translate and some words will be confusing, but you'll get the point :) :)
