The ADHD and anxiety is a myth. They were originally designed by a mother for her kid with autism but since every case of autism and ADHD and ADD is unique it isn't guaranteed to help. It just looks cool and feels kinda nice to hold 'em.
I suffer from an anxiety disorder and find a fidget spinner very useful for when I'm watching TV etc and my hands aren't busy. It's stopped me from biting and tearing at the skin on my fingers around my fingernails, a habit I'd had for years which would often leave my fingers bleeding and hence made a lot of things hard to do.
