- Hi everyone, I hope you’re all well! In this video I’ll be making some triplets and one was too good so I left it a doublet. I’m quite pleased with the results, yet again this is not something I’d done before so next time I hope they turn out even better. I hope you enjoy, thanks for your time. 🤪👍 theopalmills.com.au
I am in love with that pink gem !!!! So stunning!!!!👀
Nice work, at first I was thinking to my self, oh no no no not dub and triplets they just don't look right... That's why I didn't comment on the first video regarding this topic... But you have me convinced now, those things came out pretty nice, I'm impressed and am kinda thinking I eventually just might make some too with the stuff I have to work with, just for fun.. between you and Roy I'm picking up alot of good tips and tricks for opals, and it is appreciated 🙂 great video Phil, thanks 👍👍
Came out great! Good use for opal that is too thin or too transparent that wouldn't be used for anything else. Really makes something out of almost nothing.
Looks great.. I like the mosaic.
Yet another advantage in a flat wheel. Much easier to get those surfaces flat an level. Good job
Your doing an awesome job. I love opals. And i like incorporating them into other minerals.
Awsome work. Thank you for showing me stuff about opal that I've never seen before
🤪👍
Wow they came out Incredible, so Bright , that last shot of them turning around looks Awesome , what a Great Display
I’m really surprised at how good they look, not sure about the mosaic, it’s a cute idea though. Set the nicer ones in silver they would still look fantastic
First again😆😂
🤣👍
Terrific job, as you learn we learn. I wasn't sure about the 'right' backing to use, I don't have black potch but I do have boulder, so I may give it a go. I have some very thin Andamooka matrix (concrete) I can try though probably better as a triplet to improve the surface.
Ty, if you have black potch you could use clear adhesive to let the potch show through as background, but mixing a pinch of black oxide to the adhesive allows you to use any colour potch (you could use clear glass) and a setting can hide the back and sides, but I did like the look of Boulder backing with nice pattern to set with open back. For some matrix it would help maximise it’s potential (viewable surface area) and if it doesn’t polish well on its own, it’s either some sealant or a triplet lens, 50/50 I think. 🤪👍
@@theopalmills Thanks mate, this is fun!
Wow I've seen doubles but never triplets these are really cool!!
I received my opals from the giveaway and have already cut some nice stones!
Excited to get through the rest of it.
Quick question though, are the opals I won all andamooka? And can they be treated?
Love the videos learning so much from you already
Hi, sorry I don’t recognise your profile name (help me out), but they were mixed field, but no matrix to treat sorry.
If those were all solids, what would their price difference be? I asked Jason on his video about his collection, what would they be worth if they were doublets? It's the beauty I like and doublets are worth as much to me, maybe more cause I could afford nicer ones.
To my understanding, a decent doublet can be worth up to 20% the value of a solid of equal classing. 🤪👍
where did you get your caps from
G’day Joel, I bought a bulk lot after “Shelly’s lapidary” closed in Adelaide. 🤪👍
Hello where may i find you on fb please if okay im a respectful quiet non bothering man thanks 👍
