I just found out my friend has no internal dialog....... like.... if she thinks she needs to do the dishes, she doesn't think "I need to do the dishes" she just pictures herself doing the dishes...... it blows my mind. My brain, on the other hand, won't shut up!
Wait what? How does that even work, my brain writes to-do lists for me and doesn't give me time to catch up.

I can't read or write without hearing every word in my head, it blew my mind when I first heard there where people without an inner monologe. There is a youtube channel called Quiet Mind Inside made by a woman, who has no inner voice and no ability to form pictures in her mind. I find it incredibly interesting since sounds and pictures are how I mostly think about everything.
Sometimes my internal dialogues come out on paper as characters talking to each other.
That's so cool it's like a visual instead of an audio... I mean like I don't hear it with my ears but I "hear" it, I assume it's like you "see" it in your head but not actually see it like with your eyes?
I talked to myself and have conversations in my head. Especially when I see stupid people. I have to tell someone.....

The Chinese restaurant actually used a quote from one of late comedian John Pinette's skits. He was hilarious and the Chinese Buffet skit was one of my favorites. Glad to see the restaurant owners have a sense of humor.

That zoom thing reminded me of the old guy who accidentally put on a cat filter during a zoom meeting. It was amazing. "I am not a cat." 😂 The expression of the cat is so fitting too.
My house and town burnt to the ground during quarantine but poor Gwyneth, how on earth is she making it through these horrible times. Let us pray for her🙏
I’m not a big fan of hers but it was a terrible headline. The big thing was that she had started to drink a lot and then she mentioned eating “unhealthy” too.

@@sandysani6045 Thank you very much. Unfortunately three people didn't make it. We had pretty much no warning since the fire spread so fast. I'm just grateful the evacuation went as well as it did. There could have been allot more people lost if it weren't for everyone working together to get out.

That last fail was actually his computer but his sister had changed the wifi name as a joke. He really didn't have a clue and the Judge let him fix the problem and rejoin the meeting.

I feel so bad for him I would have probably slammed the laptop closed and disappeared into my own anus. Which would be kind of apt at that point, I guess.
I work with kids on zoom and they are always changing their names to weird things that would be inappropriate for court, job interview etc. I just check to change my name cause I use 2 different nicknames depending on which group of people I'm on with.

The story is that (allegedly) his sister set up his Zoom profile and pranked him with that name. Pretty plausible, but let's hope his sister doesn't turn up dead over the next month.

There is a debate between an internal voice or an internal monolog. I do both! Sometimes I narrate; sometimes I just talk to myself. This subject is fascinating to me. However, I never thought I was crazy or unusual. That part is hilarious!
I NEVER thought that ppl didn't have an inner voice. BUT I also have always assumed I take it to the EXTREME & that in definitely crazy! Lol
You are not even crazy if you talk out the "inner monologue/diologue" as many people claim, only if you are convinced something/someone else answers

"Why do Brits speak English, an American language, rather than speaking some European language?" Who's gonna tell this person they spoke it first and it's called English because of that?
I would try, but if they had to ask the question, they won't be able to understand the answer. I've seen explanations like this attempted. It never works. They just double down on the stupid.
It's almost like English came from England or something lol.
Honestly I'm familiar with the site it was asked on and they pay people to ask questions so others can answer. The actual questions don't matter so they're often stupid stuff like this. As long as they ask a ton of questions they'll get paid. Most real users of the site absolutely hate that program and refuse to answer.
I'm not American, but I assume not all Americans speak "English".
And to be fair (begrudgingly), not all Brits speak English as Britain is made up of four different countries.
E.g. some Scots could speak Gallic.
Britain, especially London is a melting pot of many languages and cultures.
The woke left thinks you should not learn Spanish from a white person.

I talk to myself in my brain, sometimes full on debates. I think it's usually me narrating.... yeah, it does feel nuts
Well, to be fair, sometimes debating an issue with yourself, will throw up some answers you may not have considered. It does for me sometimes. Especially if I mentally "take the other person's point of view" over an issue, and then I'll think "yeah I can see how you'd think I was doing that for X reason" ...

I had a friend that insisted that EVERYONE heard the same voice, in their head. That it all sounded the same, male, female, Irish, Korean, French. She truly believed that everyone heard what she heard. I, of course, tried to explain that each person heard their own voice. Guess what her argument was? “How do you know?” How do I know? 🤔I called her stupid & left😂
You're supposed to get past this stage around the age of 2 or 3.

to be fair, while i hear words, i cant say the default voice is my own voice, it is some undefined voice, but i can make that voice sound like anyone if i imagine another person saying

me too. When I’m anxious, I tend to replay scenarios and arguments until it’s ‘resolved’ but sometimes I will say something to myself out loud (eg, how dare you!!) 😝

Apparently, humans only realized the voice in their head was them 10,000 years ago. Beforehand they used to think it was gods or something. Some people apparently still think that, given this girl. Still, it's harmless in her case; what's dangerous is when people think it's demons and you have to get exorcised.

When I talk to myself out loud, which I do often, and people ask if I'm nutters or having a breakdown - I tell them to shut it because I'm in the middle of a staff meeting.

@@MsSilverTulip I've always had a very busy mind, but when someone asks me where something is, (which we haven't used for about six years or hardly ever), as long as I DON'T THINK, I'll just go and immediately find it. Once I start trying to think where X is, the item will sink into its former oblivion. TV repair guy asked "you wouldn't happen to have some coaxial cable, about this long, with this kind of plug, would you?" and I walked over to the bookcase, pulled a small box off the top, and handed it to him. Yet if you asked me to "think about where you put that cable" ...nope. Never find it until I moved house or something...actually have no recollection that it was there. Lol. I don't get a picture of where the item is. I simply don't think. Works every time.

Generally, I feel like my thoughts are mostly visual/abstract, rather than a narrating "voice". It's not like I hear a voice in my head saying "I should buy some milk on my way home from work", it's more like I picture it in my head. That said, I do talk to myself out loud at times. (I feel like most people do that, and yet we keep talking about it like it's the weirdest habit.) It's weirdly nice, like keeping oneself company, and it helps me organize my thoughts when they get jumbled in my head.

I'm the other way around. I'm incapable of picture anything at all in my head and I have a constant voice in my head. I do have aphantasia, so maybe that's why lol

I think in first person, and having grown up with two languages, my mind is in a constant state of translation @w@

I have an financial issue. I live in Southern Ontario as well as our queen. The Canadian dollar is so low right now that a Canadian option to receive the merchandise would be preferable. Right now wouldn't it be able to be completely within our dollar, taxes and our postal system to do so without worrying about international politics like tariff fees? I'm just outside of The National Capital Region towards Toronto and I do receive book deliveries from Mississauga easily so why not merchandise from Charlotte?

I am British and I have been asked by some Americans how I learnt to speak English so good.
The first time I thought the guy was just messing with me. But it didn't take long for me to realise that he was serious.
I said, "I'm from England."
Blank stare.
"England, English."
Blank stare.
"The English language comes from England, which is the land of the English."
Blank stare.
"It was our language first, you got it from us."
I believe I actually witnessed a person's mind actually being blown.
It wasn't until several other Americans confirmed what I said that he would even believe it.
I then mentioned that we once owned them, and he pretty much started drooling, it was just one fact too far for him. :D

My daughter and I always debate the “voice in your head” thing. She apparently had a running dialogue in her head. I don’t. She reads every word when reading silently. I don’t read the words- I just skip that and understand them. I can’t explain but apparently she thinks I’m weird. I don’t know which of us is normal.
Both of you are normal, you just think in different ways :) I'm lowkey jealous of both of you, since you can share your different experience with someone close to you.
It means your brain is a faster comprehensive mind. Advanced literary skills are reading a page in less than a minute. Maybe 2-3 times faster than your peers. You THINK faster, so to speak. Everyone has different talents and abilities lol -

My stepson recently dropped out. We begged him not to. But his mother and stepfather had gotten him a full time job and he felt he didn't need to finish. My husband and I were devastated. I offered to homeschool him so he could finish he wouldn't even consider it. We thought for sure he would listen to our daughter he always seems to but nope his mind was made up. Last week my daughter was on the phone with him and told her he needed his diploma or GED to advance in anyway at work. She was relaying the conversation as they were having it. My husband just yelled well who could of ever predicted that you would need a diploma.

Sometimes my thoughts sound like Charlotte Dobre! It’s especially confusing when I wake up and look in the mirror only to say to myself ‘hey everybody’ .... it makes me look around the bathroom for the rest of the folks!!! 🤦🏻♀️🦚

Okay but that nun one. I once saw a nun in my local Giant Eagle (I live no where near any convent or major highway) and I quietly asked the cashier if he could see her too cuz I hadn’t gotten much sleep in the past few days. 😂
Oh yes, my thoughts are really a narrator of my every move (she enters bathroom & can finally drop the fake smile used for annoying co-worker) and of course, my theme song plays when I enter a new scene. Everyone doesn't have that?
Speaking as someone with that condition, a voice in your head that narrates your life (especially in the third person), which you can't control can be a sign of a dissociative identity disorder. It is not necessarily something to worry about (I live with it just fine and can count the occasions I had issues with it on one hand), but maybe look into it. There is an organisation called Hearing Voices Network, which provides some information about hearing voices in general.

That judge does not take crap from anyone. He recently had a case where an accused abuser was sitting in the same room as his victim. Violating a protective order. Idiot got arrested and I'm pretty sure new charges were filed against him for attempting to intimidate a witness. That Judge is awesome!

It is, actually (although most of the time the sites will just take those ads down). I contemplated doing that for a bit. You know, telling myself girls would only use it to prank their boyfriends... But of course I knew I'd probably be aiding in an epic fail in someone's relationship and got scared that karma would get me right back and harm my babies, so I never did that.
