H/H match update: ... Here we are on week 118 of our favorite classic game show (these episodes originally aired in mid-November 1975), and this time our stalwart regulars Brett, Richard, and Charles are joined by semi-regular Betty in the sixth seat. - Betty is #5 on the list of most frequent Match Game '7x celebs, after only the three regulars and Fannie Flagg. - Betty also starts the week with a better track record of H/H matches than any of our three regulars. - Betty has played the H/H match 32 times so far - more than anyone except for the three regulars. Dick Gautier returns for his third week (of 6 total), and with a very '70s new do! Dick has had one unsuccessful attempt at the H/H match so far. - Melinda O. Fee rounds out the panel, making her one and only week of Match Game '7x appearances. And now, let's sit back, enjoy, and see which celebs get a shot at the head-to-head match this week! ...A brand-new week and a brand-new champion, but the same old celebrity. After last time's surprise selection of Mary Ann Mobley, things return to form with Richard being tapped to play the head-to-head match today. (He'd played 10 times in a row before Mary Ann had a winning go of it last time.) Today's question: " ______ Along " Maybe a harder than average question? I thought of hop along (as in Hopalong Cassidy), tag along, sing along, come along, but I have this nagging feeling that there's something more obvious that I'm not thinking of... Richard took far longer than usual to file his response, and he looked anything but confident. The contestant seemed pretty decided. She gave my first thought: Hop along. And the audience applauded. (Maybe the question wasn't as hard as I had thought?) As soon as Richard launched into his typical fake-out, it was obvious what he'd written. Richard scores his 130th H/H match. Here's the updated leader board showing the 11 celebs with at least 3 H/H matches, ranked by accuracy: Orson Bean - 100% (4 wins in 4 attempts). Gary Burghoff - 83.3% (5 wins in 6 attempts). TIE: Jo Anne Worley - 75% (3 wins in 4 attempts). TIE: Joyce Bulifant - 75% (3 wins in 4 attempts). Fannie - 52.6% (10 wins in 19 attempts). Betty - 46.9% (15 wins in 32 attempts). Charles - 45.2% (19 wins in 42 attempts). Jo Ann Pflug - 44.4% (8 wins in 18 attempts). Richard - 39.9% (130 wins in 326 attempts). Brett - 38.0% (19 wins in 50 attempts). Bert Convy - 33.3% (5 wins in 15 attempts). *These stats include every head-to-head match from episode 1 through 586, excluding the lost/missing episodes: 31, 32, 33, 311, 312, 313, 324, 325. (As per MatchGameProductions, these episodes "are nowhere to be found and also aren't in the Goodson/Todman Library. Sadly, looks like they are lost forever!")

. YIKES !! That kiss (1:05) reminded me of the scene from Tootsie (1982) where Dustin Hoffman (as "Dorothy Michaels") gets kissed by the old guy on the 'Soap' they both worked on..... What makes it WORSE here, is the little card she then holds up that says "WOW" after Rayburn kisses her......yeah, that HORRIFICALLY sad era when women had to not only put up with the misogyny, but (sometimes) pretended they actually liked it !! Richard Dawson OBVIOUSLY learned well from "The Master", Gene Rayburn. On this date in 1963, The tv show The Farmer’s Daughter episode An Affair of State with Charles Nelson Reilly as Guide aired.
On this date in 1996, The Family Matters TV Series episode Getting Buff with Charles Nelson Reilly as Mr. Vreeland aired.
You probably already know this: Charles Nelson Reilly survived the Hartford Circus fire
I didn't know he was in that.
That was a time for, Miss Miller going to all these shows!
I've never been to any.
She looked so cute.
I've been watching the syndicated episodes. She still shows up there too!
This woman contestant is from Oroville, where I just moved from, living there for 30 years. Small Town back then. Wow!
Yay. Betty's back!
Sandy looked like a sweet person.
Trained her to fetch!
I would have said eleven herbs and spices
Dick Gautier will always be Hymie the Robot to me.
Dick ended up in some funny roles on "Alice" and also a "Kolchak" werewolf episode.
Wow! Gautier and his ridiculous hair! Geeze
His hair was that way for his part as Robin Hood, in the tv show When Things Were Rotten.

Does anyone know who the woman in the audience is? Gene only gives her last name, but he says "she's been on every television show you can imagine."
He meant she was an audience member of many shows.
OK, that makes sense. I thought maybe that was what he meant, but I wasn't sure.
Paul71H I remember “Miss Miller” from Merv Griffin show, she was always in the audience.
I appreciate the information. That helps to satisfy my curiosity. Thanks!

A new kid on the block and new microphones for the contestants
Harrison Brown The panel has them too.

Were Tom Brokaw and Jane Pauley news anchors on TODAY around this time?
You can look them up online, you know. There were no female news anchors in the 1970s.
