    Rory seems to be the only one willing to give everyone the painful truth instead of a beautiful lie. He's a little too much softly spoken to get his point across but basically everybody needs to stop throwing a tantrum demanding BREXIT NOW! NOW NOW NOW! I WANT IT NOW. Guess what? National and international politics is a SLOW process. Why would you want to rush to meet an arbitrary date at the detriment of the county when you can just wait and GET IT RIGHT. Life's a marathon, not a sprint.

    • @grantmalone
      @grantmalone 5 років тому

      Focusing both sides on getting it sorted instead of it dragging on and on? Trying to prevent extended uncertainty for business and others affected by it? Having an end goal so we can finally move on and have time to address the hundreds of other burning issues in the country? Avoiding a huge swing to a single issue party with no manifesto?
      I'm a Remainer, I'd rather it didn't happen at all, but that's unlikely, except perhaps in the case of a confirmatory vote. And that still needs something to actually vote on. You obviously need to have a target for completion of a negotiation of this sort that is causing so much disruption on both sides, and ultimately any target is going to be somewhat arbitrary. Agree that the tantrums and "just leave now" folks are ridiculous, but "just waiting" isn't a great solution either in my opinion.

    • @benmitchell437
      @benmitchell437 5 років тому

      @@grantmalone - The end goal is securing a strong future for generations to come; Planting seeds that's trees we will never sit under but will shield our children and grandchildren from the rain. To be perfectly honest I was always on the fence about Brexit until recently, but now that it's happening I want it done RIGHT and a no-deal simply hurts Britain far more than simply waiting does.
      Trust me the government will have learnt from May's swift lost of public confidence and subsequent boot out of 10 downing street. They're self-preserving if nothing else which means they'll want to leave the EU as quickly as sensibly possible so they don't take the next public shafting.
      Now in the time its taken me to reply to you, Rory Stewart has fallen out of the leadership race. It seems someone from the hive mind, standard thinking will become out next PM.

      The idea that this parliament, which has done little else but discuss how to implement Brexit, has ignored the 52% of voters who want to leave the EU is frankly ridiculous. We have huge problems with violent crime, poverty, education, funding for the NHS, chaos on the trains etc etc and none of it has been tackled because parliament is too busy with this. I don’t understand the point of this debate. The leader has already been decided by 120ish of the richest people in the country. 70k ish conservative members might be allowed to rubber stamp it, but nobody else gets a say. They don’t have to appeal to voters because voters have no say in who the PM is or what the government’s policy should be

    After 3 years of brexit, we have 3 years young prople now have the rights to vote, and I believe more citizens have better understanding of brexit. As a democracy country we should revote the brexit and at the same time let the citizens vote for brexit with current deal or no deal. If I am prime minister I will deliver this to people and at the mean time I will focus on no deal and communicate with countries about new trade deals. If the worst case become true, 31 October i will make sure uk have a trade deals ready with at least two of these countries (australia, canada, USA and china) or commonwealth countries.

    Rory Stewart is one of the only honest politicians that I've witnessed , he seems like he will do and follow the will of the British people, some of his views are quite hard line but if he is willing to put his own personal opinion aside to follow the will of the people he seems like the guy I'd like to represent me.... If we want out of Europe and he doesn't but because we voted to leave he would get us out and we would leave, to serve the people not himself!!! Seems like the right attitude to have!.

    It is great to see young people like Erin (from Glasgow) interested in the important issues facing the UK and the world. On the other hand it is disappointing to see how easily young people are misled by sound bites and slogans. It is easy to focus our attention on something easy to remember and repeat like a trained parrot. It seems that ultra left-wing liberals are continually bringing up "politically correct" issues like climate change. Similarly the ultra right-wing conservatives use patriotism as their political weapon of choice. Political correctness ignores reality and focuses people's attention on secondary or non-existent issues based on pseudo-science reasoning. An entire society will throw all their resources and efforts into solving a problem that does not exist or at worse is a tertiary issue. Of course, we need to find other forms of energy to supplement fossil fuel. But solar and wind energy can only supplement fossil fuel power, hydroelectric power, and nuclear power. Solar and wind energy cannot replace conventional fossil fuel, hydroelectric, and nuclear power.

    What a let down, not one question fully answered and all the shouting at each other just showed how incompetent they all are. Basically what they will do to get us out of the EU is use May's terrible deal but delay the backstop until we leave. Parliament won't allow a no deal but because they know that's what the people voted for they pretend to want it as a last resort. I will be voting for The Brexit Party at the next election.
