- In this exciting “Brew With Us” collaboration, Rob and Stiffo journeyed to Bristol to meet with Kelly and Bob, the owners of Good Chemistry Brewing. Nestled in the heart of Bristol’s Beer Brewing Quarter, St. Phillips, and fuelled by their love for great beer and positive vibes, Good Chemistry Brewing has found its well-deserved spot in the beer community.
Bob, a former homebrewer deeply involved in Bristol’s homebrewing community, decided with his partner Kelly to turn this hobby into a business 8 years ago. Today, Good Chemistry Brewing has firmly established itself not only among Bristol’s beer enthusiasts but also beyond.
The recipe for this beer is a BIG and BOLD MALT BOMB! Perfect for this time of year and the autumn and winter months!

What nice people, must visit Bristol again
Thank you for introducing us to these wonderful people. I look forward to trying the recipe myself. Keep up the good work Rob and team
Cheers Julian, kind words. Let us know how your homebrew version turns out! And if you're ever in Bristol do pop into the Kings Head for a pint! Cheers, Kelly 🍻
I really enjoyed this video. Kelly and Bob are such good people and I have very happy memories of the IWD event at the Good Measure and also a few visits to the King’s Head which my hotel was conveniently a few doors away from. It still makes me laugh that my first pint there was a Fyne Ales beer from a brewery just 40 miles as the crow flies from me. 🤣 Good Chemistry has a great approach to business and life backed up by seriously good beer.
Thanks so much for watching Sam. We loved the IWD event. Coincidentally we've got a Fyne Ales Tap Takeover & Meet The Brewer event on Thur 26th Oct - so wall-to-wall Fyne, we can't wait 😋. Do hope to see you back down in Bristol again soon. Cheers, Kelly 🍻
Great video and its always good to see independants collaborating with other local brewers..
Thanks Jon, yeah The Malt Miller are good guys - it's true Bob used to buy homebrew bits from them, so it's great to be able to work with them like this now. Let us know if you have a go at brewing the beer! Cheers, Kelly 🍻
Love Kelly's sweatshirt. Chemistry and brewing, two of my favourite things. Add in cycling and I'm in heaven.
Thanks Mike! Us too, and I'll take the cycling as well! Hope you get to try some of our beers if you haven't already. Cheers, Kelly 🍻
Sadly, not tried your beers yet - I am in Cambridge. But I'm looking forward to trying the kit out.@@goodchemistrybrewing9594
This brewery and the King’s Head look amazing. I love Kelly and Bob’s approach to brewing and running a brewery/pubs. Hope to visit one of the pubs soon 🤞
Us too! They are such wonderful people who make equally great beer!
Ah too kind, thank you so much! Hope you get to the pubs for a pint or two before too long. Cheers, Kelly 🍻
Excellent interview and opinions on making pubs a positive environment. I’ll be the one in the corner with the book/games console
Thank you! It's really important to us to make sure everyone feels welcome in our pubs, whether you want to meet up with friends or just have a few beers on your own. Thanks for watching. Cheers, Kelly
Great film again....is Malt miller getting into low DO brewing too protect the malt flavours... N.S brewing... Future Ales
So just bought the kit plus a can of the esb. The can was wonderful. Hopefully the kit is something like. The beer was smooth and presentedI itself as though it’ was with beer gas and not CO2. I would describe it as a dark mild or Porter similar to those that not available in the north west anymore. Not fashionable. Well done malt miller. I think I will pour the kit through beer gas.
It may take over from robs export Porter which is a favourite brew
We have one in the tanks here and its tasting great, hope yours turns out great too!
Cheers Mike, glad you enjoyed our can, but how did you get on with brewing the beer yourself?! Cheers, Kelly
@@goodchemistrybrewing9594 hi. If you read my post in the latest malt miller vlog. Ie the second in this series I have given an account. Cheers
(We found our UA-cam login, hooray!) Thanks so much for joining us for the day, Rob (& James behind the camera!). We can't wait to try your version - see you in the pub soon! Cheers, Kelly & Bob 🍻
We’re looking forward to that too!! 🍻🍻🍻
Would try to brew it but no hope of getting the kit in Australia. Can probably obtain all the grain, just don’t know proportions.
Drop us an email to hello@themaltmiller.co.uk and we will look to sort you out with the ratios of malt 👍🏻
I am interested in seeing the recipe, although some of those may be a bit difficult for me to get in the States.
Hope you get to have a go at it! Let us know how you get on if you have to substitute any ingredients. Cheers, Kelly 🍻
Would be interested to know why they chose extra pale as their base malt, given it's a dark beer ...? Looking forward to trying this from the MM kit.
Good point but it does mean you get high conversion rates and efficiency, whilst also being great value compared to other base malts
Could you please describe what the process is at 20m45s? There is also a picture of this on the recipe page. Thank you
Yes, this is in the brewery, it's called and under back, they are running off from the mash tun to the boil kettle and filtering any loose grain and to monitor colour. It can also be used to recirculate the mash back into the grain bed to clear the wort
