kwyjibo my biggest gripe is that it can’t communicate with the Apple Watch. I was looking forward to that so much, especially since the previous Minimed pump did. I also don’t like how you constantly have to calibrate the sensor (2x day minimum). I get it, medicine is BIG business, but I wish companies would share or license information for the good of the public. I guess it doesn’t matter when literal billions of dollars are at stake!
@@dwalterrealty omg, no calibrations would be a godsend. even though i use the g5, there's almost no way i could afford Apple gadgets. I've been through 3 phones and have still spent less than any current model year iPhone. You remind me of a small criticism i have about the g5... So what if we took your desire for it to work with Apple watches and expanded it to work with Android? There is no android app from Dexcom. the workaround is easy enough, i'm using xDrip+ (thank you, Nighscout!!1!) to do the monitoring but the fact that Dexcom can't be bothered to release an Android app is a big middle finger to those of us on budget devices.
kwyjibo i think it’s more the varying operating systems of android devices. It seems like every phone has a different version! And aren’t they open and completely customizable? As 29 year old type 2 diabetic these could be game changers for me. I have more hopes on Apple though… google tends to drop projects for the sake of cost cutting…
The most interesting thing about this is that most of these mechanisms are relatively cheap and readly available. Problem is that is impossible for small researching companies to get approval from regulators to sell it.
Any examples? I always thought there were only two major players because the market has such insanely high entry barriers, since the two players already are well established with their matured products and have the advantage of scale effects. I never considered regulations to be the hurdle.
Having a Dexcom allowed me to see what was happening after eating specific foods and thus I made some changes which dropped my A1C to near non diabetic numbers.
Apple prices are high compared to other products, yes. But in all honesty, it's not a bad price if you ask me, I've had my MacBook pro since late 2013 and it still runs perfectly fine today, I only bought the base £999 model too and its done me fine, 6 years and still running fine is £999 spent well, and I believe there is still a few years left in it. If you struggle to pay it straight out you could always pay monthly if necessary. Even Microsoft prices' have hiked up now too. The problem is when someone wants to buy every device at once. Macbook £1500 iPad £1000 iPhone £999 Watch £500 Now that's where it gets way too pricey, often people think they need to update and refresh every year or every other year, and that again would be too pricey, when you don't! like I said my mac has lasted me 6 years.
It's damn expensive. The total cost of Dexcom for a year is around $6000. Among CGM's Freestyle Libre is quite cheap but it doesn't support Apple Watch. Its price should be lowered for all segment of the society.

Cook Medical is working with Pig pancreases to develop the “cells” in the pancreas that produces insulin. Their hope is to be able develop enough “cells” to then inject these cells into a human pancreas with hope that these cells will grow and thus produce insulin. It still the in research stage, but if does work, then many a diabetic could be “cured” of diabetes.

The Dexcon sensors can be extended with workarounds (i've worn my 7 day g5 sensor for up to 14 days before). I'd assume the Libre is similar but i've never used the Freestyle Libre. The tradeoff between the cost of new sensors and exposing t1 diabetics to an increased risk of infection is hard to do. @@dwalterrealty i have the 630 and the g5, they work fine together. they don't communicate but it's a serviceable arrangement.
I'm super curious, What don't you like about the 670?
kwyjibo my biggest gripe is that it can’t communicate with the Apple Watch.
I think that freedom prevents android from getting clearance with the FDA right now, as it can be hacked. I’m just guessing, so don’t take that as a fact, just my 2 cents!
Does it already work with Apple Watch 7?
This is by far one of the best vids Ive seen on UA-cam.
I'm glad that modern medical technological devices companies either in the east or west arrived and have developed equipments helpful in treating patients. That's ok for business, ok for economies, ok for patients' health, ok for medical tourism, and health cards can also earn.

I never considered regulations to be the hurdle.
cheap and readily available? where?
Having a Dexcom allowed me to see what was happening after eating specific foods and thus I made some changes which dropped my A1C to near non diabetic numbers.

@@vrsce0178 you sound as stupid as apple employees
Apple prices are high compared to other products, yes.
But in all honesty, it's not a bad price if you ask me, I've had my MacBook pro since late 2013 and it still runs perfectly fine today, I only bought the base £999 model too and its done me fine, 6 years and still running fine is £999 spent well, and I believe there is still a few years left in it.
If you struggle to pay it straight out you could always pay monthly if necessary. Even Microsoft prices' have hiked up now too.
The problem is when someone wants to buy every device at once.
Macbook £1500
iPad £1000
iPhone £999
Watch £500
Now that's where it gets way too pricey, often people think they need to update and refresh every year or every other year, and that again would be too pricey, when you don't! like I said my mac has lasted me 6 years.

As a Type 1 diabetic, I would spend $5000 or more on CGM watch that was accurate and didn't require a significant amount of calibration.
Diabetic type 1 here, this video was made to increase the value and the validation of Dexcom, its almost a press release. Dexcom, Google and Apple...if you guys want make a real money, give us an artificial pancreas. I would pay 10 times more for a solution like that. Someone could pass this messages to the investors ??
Cook Medical is working with Pig pancreases to develop the “cells” in the pancreas that produces insulin. Their hope is to be able develop enough “cells” to then inject these cells into a human pancreas with hope that these cells will grow and thus produce insulin. It still the in research stage, but if does work, then many a diabetic could be “cured” of diabetes.
Dexcom is already set to release the full closed loop artificial pancreas system with the tandem tslimx2 by the end of 2019
My question is what is the annual cost of this vs the normal monitoring?
It needs to be affordable!
Anything to do with apple will never be affordable

'its like apple has all the bells and whistles' android actually has more features on low end phones
But no one cares. Why do you think celebs have iPhones? iPhones do everything you need then to very easy and smoothly. Androids start glitching and have you seen snap chats from android users??? Look it up
For the most part thats true. I've used android for years. Innovation is definitely on the android side, but a smooth polished experience is definitely apples strong suit albeit the lack of innovation sometimes.

When apple makes an insulin pump themselves, it will mean that the pump itself will cost 4000 dollars, then they will modify the battery you can only but on their website and the avg cost will be 50 dollars per batter for a month.
