I was watching a clip with Greg Bissonette just this morning explaining how this became his signature lick... I'm looking forward to finally giving this a try thanks to this lesson!!
The way you break things down is the best way to teach love that be bop kit I've always wanted one the sound they produce being smaller drums with higher tuning sound incredible
Just hearing the name "Vinnie" instills fear and awe into most drummers here we go another 2 bucks to you and your wonderfully inspirational channel and playing !
Great stuff! Reminds me of a Stanton Moore video a few days ago. He seems to have a less mathematical approach to this, as in around 7:46 of this video ua-cam.com/video/xOtPlIuNrpM/v-deo.htmlsi=wOeK99ejvPBnnA-J
That being said I admire both ideas. And I just noticed Stanton’s way of doing this phrase in 5 keeps the right hand in 4/4; while Vinnie’s and yours allow emphasis on the flamed accented notes

Yes!
Been working on this for about a week. I just don't have the chops! I can get it up to speed with swiss triplet sticking but it's not the same really.
Take your time, be patient and remember that this lick sounds good at slower tempos too. hang in there!
