Back in my motorcycle days I frequented a popular California Biker Bar. Marie, one of the owners, was a young girl growing up in Nazi Germany during the war. I asked her why Hitler was swept into power? She said it was because he told the people what they wanted & needed to hear.

Günther seemed like a genuinely good guy. I would have loved to have met him. I love the interviews with him and Shorty Rankin, his friend and allied pilot who likely shot his thumb off.

There is an amazing book about him (an Autobiography basically) by the 296-Verlag, called "Mein Flugbuch" ISBN 978-3-9807935-3-7 Its expensive, but WELL worth it. Kurt braatz is the co-author. I think its available in German only though....and no, I´m not Kurt Braatz

The claim is made that starving people are easy prey. People who are being starved to death are the prey of their starvers. There German people were already preyed upon by the allies. Germany was mistreated by the Treaty of Versailles.

I was really hoping for more details from Rahl about actual combat and stuff. Is there another program or book I can find that?

The Luftwaffe was a failed organization thanks to Goering and his lackeys utterly mismanaging it but its aces were a special group from Hartmann and Galland on down. I highly recommend Galland's memoirs The First and the Last.

He reached his ceiling in WW1 as a Squadron Leader. He had been close friends with Hitler since the ‘20s which helped him more than his abilities.

That's bullshit they didn't lose 3,000 pilots come on man that would have been a huge chunk of the german air force. Also the bf109 could dive but was limited but all fighters of ww2 were same , do too compressiblity the p38 was especially know for this. The spitfire and p47 and the mustang too had this problem. Yes bf109 did have poor back visibility but so did the spitfire and hurricane and early mustangs until they put the bubble canopy. The biggest problem with the bf109 was it's landing gear but when you are taking off from uneven grass fields that is too be expect. The other problem was range which was horrible the late great major Galland complain about. The slats would open at violent maneuverers, but as one p51 mustang pilot said he never saw a bf109 stall but witness alot of fw190 stall in combat. The bf109 was an outstanding combat plane built for war, but it was not for inexperience pilots due too Germany furl problems and the war pilots couldn't enough hours to become proficient. The bf109 has the most combat kills in all the wars when planes were involved. She deserves the highest honors ever given too a combat aircraft I salute you bf109 you will always have my deepest respect. May you nerver be forgotten

Sorry you are wrong. The last German Ace was Erich Rudoffer, he had over 200 luft siegen and only passed away in April 2016,a few years after Gunter Rall had died.
