Love this mat!! This mat is a time saver for me and frees up my work area because I can do my project without cluttering up my space. Clean up is a breeze. Love this mat!
I've had the black mat for over 6 months and I absolutely love it! The ease of cleaning and the fact that I can use a heat tool on it were some of the contributing factors for me. I do admire the white one and might purchase it one day but, for now I love the black glass one and will never go back to the tan craft mat. Thank you Vicky for your review.
Such a helpful review Vicki! You covered all the different mediums using the glass and color palette . So informative. ❤️ Thank you for taking the time to do a video for us.
You had me at the heat gun. I too ruined an oversized self-healing matte years ago thinking I could heat emboss on it. Wrong! LOL. I’ve been thinking about getting one and your video tipped the scales. Thanks for your great demo.
I bought the white one after you gave a review on it some time ago, and I love it. It's a real easy to clean experience, no mess stays visible. I agree with you when it comes to healing mats, they're porous and easy to stain, in no time they become a mess. I'll never go back to mats neither. :)
I love working on glass mat , I really like the Tim Holtz comes with the non stick mat also because it keeps me from having to pull out more equipment to get my project done. thank you for your review.
Great video. Been waiting for this to become available. I also have one of those bumpy self-healing mats that will be placed in the garbage as soon as my glass mat arrives.
thanks for this review Vicky! I always used a paper pad with a grid but I can’t cut, heat or paint on it and I ordered 2 more pads and they are discontinued! so this review just made up my mind! Hope you are having a nice vacation with your family! 😎
Thank you for the review. Many things are so trendy but not long lasting. I'm glad this is a basic tool that a crafter should have in their arsenal and that you have tested it for over a year. I've had a self-healing mat for years and so I would hope that this tempered glass mat would serve me just as long.
Excellent review... Thanks for doing it and letting us know it was back in stock... I used the link and finally got mine ordered. TFS and I hope you have a fantastic vacation! :-)
Thanks for the review Vicky. Great tips I didn't know about. I have had this glass mat on order since March & I'm still waiting for it to come. It seems that they have had such an overwhelming response for it, that they are so back logged in production. They tell me now that it should be shipped by July 11. Time will tell. Also wanted you to know that I too have not had good luck with my self healing mat. It is so warped (because of heat) that I can't wait to get rid of it.
Great review!! I have the white mat but I'm tempted to get this one too! I do love the glass, though my mat has acquired some cracks or scratches despite my using it with great care.
Great review but the mat is still not available in Texas. Ordered it in April and still waiting. Love your videos and hope you are having a wonderful summer! Greece is a beautiful country!
Thank you, Vicky! I have one on backorder for months now (at SSS) but Scrapbook.com has it already so I ordered it from them!! I should get it next week!!! Can't wait!!! Thanks again! Have a great vacation and summer!!!! xoxo
I'm so impressed with Scrapbook.com....SSS takes forever to ship things but I ordered the mat today from Scrapbook.com and this evening received notice of shipment
enjoyed your video! Can the white removable craft mat be used for other techniques? I got water-based ink on the textured side of the mat & it won't come off! suggestions?
I would say your best option is to use alcohol to clean it. But even if it doesn’t don’t forget that that is it’s purpose... protect your table from paints that stain.
I hope you are enjoying the summer with your children and the beach. Whenever you are back I have a question, Couldyou speak to the black vs white surface differences between the two mats? I just wonder if the color of the glass mat impacts your work. It’s been the biggest question for me but I’ve not heard anyone discuss that factor. I’ve admired your white mat for a long time. (Well, honestly, all your work. You are so inspiring!)
kazoomi2 in the video I do compare the two and for me the main difference is the grid, inches vs cm. Other that that you get used to the color of the background... I have no particular preference on that.
Vicky Papaioannou thank you for the amazingly quick response. It was the working on the black vs white that I wondered about. On video it appears easier to see your inks etc that are actually on the white when you work (blending, etc) but I’m guessing they can be seen in real life on the black. Probably just hard to see in the video. I’ll check out your link as I think I need to get this!
@kazoomi2 I have the white one, thanks to Vicki's review of it. I love it for the fact that it is white. That for me was a bigger factor than the grid being in centimeters. I don't measure on my mat and the grid still works for lining up. I opted for the mat with a white background and I am very very happy with it. My concern about color visibility on the black mat made it a no-go for me.
TG Bears thank you. That is where my concern has been. Perhaps I should consider the white mat and add the white replacement inking mat. While I am in the US the centimeters vs inches doesn't matter as I'll continue to use my paper trimmer to do most (measured) cutting. I almost think the centimeter marking might be more useful in centering placements etc. I've also really liked the layering and other info on the white mat. I shall have to sleep on this
@kazoomi2 Do keep in mind though that the layering guides on the white mat are also in metric, so they don't work when using the imperial cardmaking system of 4.25x5.5, 6x6, etc
They are basically the same product. I would choose based on the measurements.... what are you used to work with? cm or inches? if you use cm then go with the white if you use inches go with the black. But if you are familiar with both systems then decide on the color you want to look at when you craft.
I have been trying to order the first Tonic Tempered Glass Mat since you featured it last year and it was sold out everywhere in the U.S. until 2 months ago! Now that I have it, I dislike it because there’s something in between the printing and the glass that makes it always look filthy. Does anyone have this problem with theirs? Before I go ordering the new black mat, I’m wondering if the same issue exists. Thank you.
Hi Vicky, I have been watching reviews of the glass mat (black one) and was wondering how it works when using polymer clays ...does the clay stick like it does using a slightly worn silicone mat? No one has addressed this issue. Thanks Carol-Lynn
I don't work with polymer clay so I can't help you with that. This is glass.... try working with clay on any glass you have at home to test it out ... and if you like the results then consider it :)
What a great review thank you Vicki! It answered a lot of questions for me as I just received my own. I had heard a lot of conflicting information about it so thank you very much. How did you record your video and not have a glare from the light?
I ordered the black one. Already had the white one. I was looking forward to being able to cut on it but the first time I tried cutting a piece of light chipboard I got a long diagonal scratch on it. I was a little disappointed so will still use the cutting mat. I was using the same craft knife that you were using in your demo!!
Thanks for your reply, Mandy. You are right, I think. I will admit the mat has it's good features but then as with any tool we order, I think that we expect too much. Like Computers, they're only as good as the user. I think it also has to do with where these products are manufactured. Years ago with most product made in the US, the standards were higher and the quality control that was in place was better. Not so anymore! Oh well, I guess all you can say these days is *buyer beware*!
MaryJo-click on Vicky's link - it goes to Scrapbook.com and they have it. They are in Mesa, AZ. I ordered mine last night!!! I also waited at least 5 months, too! Next week, Simon Says Stamps is supposed to have it in, also!!!
I actually wrote to Tonic and told them they should not promote a product as much as they did and not have it totally in stock and ready to be shipped out!!!! I said 'shame on you'!!!! I did receive a reply that they were going to start shipping very soon. That was about 2 weeks ago! And it look like they did! Unfortunately it seems Simon Says still didn't get them in. I can't wait to get mine from Scrapbook.com!!!!
It's funny how you didn't get any scratches or cut marks when you used the sharp knife. People leaving remarks on the web site complained that their's have scratches from cutting directly on the glass mat.
there are people who have really high end craft knifes, white surgical blades and these are really sharp. I use regular craft knifes and never had a problem. I keep using them regularly in my videos when I make cards with no issues. I guess it depends on how much cutting they do and what type of blade they are using!
Not good for left handers, I realize you can turn it so the white part is on the left, but then that puts on a number upside down. A left hander could "make do", but for $50 I am not about to "make do". I know we are a very small number of the population and we typically have to make so and most time it doesn't matter, in this case it does
I am a lefty too. I have been frustrated for a few years now that many of the best products are not available in a left-handed version. Frankly, I am tired of making do - and think us lefties need to stop making do, and start demanding products we can use properly. 15% of the population is not as small as some other sub populations in the marketplace, and yet companies accommodate them -- we have to start expecting that too, or businesses will never change. I am even happy to special order some of the products with the realization that they would need to meet a threshold number to place the order.
Love this mat!! This mat is a time saver for me and frees up my work area because I can do my project without cluttering up my space. Clean up is a breeze. Love this mat!

This review was so good. Thank you for explaining and demonstrating the glass mat. You are very informative.
Thank you fir sharing.🌸
Such a helpful review Vicki! You covered all the different mediums using the glass and color palette . So informative. ❤️ Thank you for taking the time to do a video for us.
Wow....you had yours for a year! I had mine on order in Feb. and just received it yesterday, 5 months later!
Mine is in the mail. Can’t wait to get it! Thanks for all the great tips!
An excellent, well thought out review that covers all the attributes of this glass mat and the tools that work on it.
This was super helpful! Thanks so much Vicky! Hope you're having a great vacation!
You had me at the heat gun. I too ruined an oversized self-healing matte years ago thinking I could heat emboss on it. Wrong! LOL. I’ve been thinking about getting one and your video tipped the scales. Thanks for your great demo.

Thanks for your review of glass mats. It is really helpful. I like how it works so must think seriously about one. TFS
Thank you! I will be getting my mat today and now I don’t regret buying! Great review!!
How do you avoid glare
Thank you for the review, it was really helpful and very informative.
Thank you for the thorough review!
Just purchased mine: Thank you for the info on the media mat!!

Carol Sze my only two complains with my self healing mats were cleaning and heat. And both are solved.
Thank you for the review I found it really useful.
Excellent review... Thanks for doing it and letting us know it was back in stock... I used the link and finally got mine ordered. TFS and I hope you have a fantastic vacation! :-)
Great review. I have this mat and wasn’t sure about cutting on it. Thank you for sharing!
Thanks so much! I was going back and forth on buying one. Off to order now.....

Thank you Vickie for such an excellent review....very helpful!
Beautiful tutorial, Vicky! I've been using the self-healing mat and have problems with it, too. Now I must get this new glass mat! TFS!
Great point about getting ink to pool on the removable mat, but not on glass. Sometimes I want droplets. 😊
Such a great review. I think I need one. Thank you!👍🏻
Great review but the mat is still not available in Texas. Ordered it in April and still waiting. Love your videos and hope you are having a wonderful summer! Greece is a beautiful country!
Order mine finally and no shipping because I l8ve in Phoenix Arizona thanks Vicky.
Thanks for the review! I just ordered through your link!! 🤓
Great video. Thank you for all the great tips.
Thanks for this review! Obviously this mat is very versatile. I ordered one but it is taking forever to come!
Great review, thank you.
would you recommend this one or the travel size?
Awesome review. I've been trying to decide about it and you convinced me! Now I have to clean off a space large enough. :-)
I need this mat. I have a bumpy self healing mat because of heat and it doesn’t clean up well. Thank you
Thank you, Vicky! I have one on backorder for months now (at SSS) but Scrapbook.com has it already so I ordered it from them!! I should get it next week!!! Can't wait!!! Thanks again! Have a great vacation and summer!!!! xoxo

Awesome video, I so want this mat. tfs
Thanks for this great info, Vicky!
The new TH glass mat seems to have been invented by a wizard in Harry Potter! Definitely on my wish list. Thanks. Jeannine
Thank you
Can i ask how do you film without any reflection in the glass?
I make sure my light does not point on the glass mat
@@vickyp Ok, thank you !!
Wow I just bought my Tim Holtz glass mat -Should I have waited???

Thanks for the information!
Thanks for the review Vicky and have a great vacay with your family!
I ordered mine in May, but on backorder till September :(
Thank you.
Very helpful! I realize I am going to have to order the black one even though I have the white one! LOL
Thanks Vicky. Ordered new one using your link.

Mom Varden i have my two lights looking towards just outside of the mat, left and right. Does that makes sense? Not directly on the mat....
Vicky Papaioannou yes it does! Thank you!
Thank you very helpful
I like the card for a wedding😍😍😊😊☺️☺️🙋🏽♀️🇳🇱🌷

I just bought mine at Joann.com when it was 40% off! Think it was $30 delivered. Very pleased
Haven't had it long, but love my Glass Media Mat!! Nope ... no more of the self-healing mats ... they're gone!
Thank bought onr but this extra tips are very welcome
I love that glass mat, but i can't afford it, maybe someday!
Scratches are a big problem with this one and I am reluctant to buy it because of this. It is a costy item after all.
What about glue from a glue gun? Thank you.
Easy to peel off once dry
Thank you for your quick reply.
Thanks for the tips Vicky. =^^=

I love all our UA-cam card makers the same but that's why I love Yana a little more...she's a lefty!
Betty Huffman I can totally understand that... why work upside down? I hope they will come up with a version for all of you in a future release!
I wonder if you could contact the manufacturer or Holtz...lefties deserve this mat too
And I've noticed in the video tutorials, a lot of artists are left-handed.
I am a lefty too. I have been frustrated for a few years now that many of the best products are not available in a left-handed version. Do NOT use cutting knives on the glass, it dulls too quick, I use the glass matt too, but cut on a selfhealing Matt next to it.
Thank you
