Her videos are top notch, best close-ups I've ever seen and really improved my ability to grasp proper oiling. Her threading information and videos were great. I improved my threading immediately.

a very good video. I learned a lot that I didn't know. Especially about loosening the bobbin tension to remove threads! Also, dealers tell you NOT to touch the silver on the bobbin.. that can not be helped so I'm not sure why they tell us that. Yes, hands should be clean and free from lotions and oil will remove the silver markings on the bobbin.
Hi, I'm hating my 880 because every time I use it something goes wrong. I was trying to free motion but the metallic thread kept breaking. I rethreaded it after I watched your session, did the same thing with the bobbin and same thing. I used fujix king star metallic thread 40W. I'm so frustrated.
Sorry to hear you are having trouble- metallic threads are notorious for needing special handling. Try using a metafil needle- that will help a lot. Here is a great blog to read about the nuance of threading the B 880. I used a metafil. Someone told me to also use a thread stand and to put it away from the machine and it worked for a while.@@BerninaInternational Thank you for the links. I'll try that.
It seems to be working, but not with bobbin thread that was recommended by my dealer. Also, the thread doesn't move smoothly when I'm moving it with my left hand. It's kind of jerky.
The machine video ( in the 880, not this video) needs to change to show proper bobbin threading. The machine tutorial video does not show proper "seating" of thread in tensions. This is a must watch webinar for all 880 owners!!! Thank you. I have been away for a bit so when I sat down to sew...oil first. I forgot to let the bobbin hook position itself before putting in the bobbin. Miss 880 had a tantrum. She is over it, but just a warning...DO NOT PUT IN BOBBIN before you let the mechanism re-position....DUH! Do everything step by step as Debbie says. PS I have had Bernina's for over 40 years. The 880 is fantastic but SO different! I bought the 830 when introduced and did not know how to use it so I was afraid of it.(the dreaded gears) If I had known what Debbie is teaching in this webinar it would have saved me a lot of time, money, and stress. Education was lacking at the introduction which gave the 8 series a bad reputation and I think set Bernina back in customer trust. These education webinars are a must. Dealers cannot do the education side of it...they do not have the time and even they do not know all this stuff. Keep on with the education PLEASE!!!!
Sad, the issue of the bobbin silver markings was glossed over. Fact - Thread passes over the face of the bobbin for every stitch, so the markings must be protected. Fact - Bernina sold quite a few bobbins manufactured without sufficient protective coating. Fact - For a spell Bernina replaced the bobbins at no charge, an admission of the defective bobbins. Tell us the truth! We can understand and move on with our great 880 machines.
