As someone who has One Piece as one of his favorite stories of all time (alongside FFXIV, VII, Berserk, Vinland Saga, Hunter x Hunter...) I'm mindblown by this video. You truly know what you're talking about & understnad One Piece. One Piece is all about freedom, living true to yourself and fighting about corruption and messed up parts of humanity. Live action worked because they understood the spirit of One Piece and Oda had them redo scenes multiple times whenever he felt something felt off.

I absolutely loved your video! I do wish people checked out the Rurouni Kenshin Live Action movies, because I personally believe they did even BETTER than the source material.

This live action adaptation did something kind of impossible. It would've been great if it simply succeeded in making a name for itself as a well put adaptation of an anime/manga franchise, which was already so hard to begin with. But, it honestly went beyond that for me. It made character interpretations that I actually prefer over their original versions.
Sanji still flirts with women but no longer overly obsesses over them, Usopp is still afraid but he uses his fear in a more tactical way, Nami actually knows some martial arts and isn't a comical coward and isn't afraid to open up more, Zoro's banter with everyone around him feels appropriate to him, and Luffy already started questioning his place as captain which makes him grow up and be a better captain at it.
They made the live action versions of these characters that I already love, but admittedly grew a bit tired of (mostly) in the anime/manga much, MUCH fresher and more believable. I immensely loved my time with this show.

I don't like the anime so I wasn't eager to watch the show. Mostly I hate the art style, but then there's one or two things I think are problematic.
If they can stay away from what I find problematic about the anime or present it in a way that is more authentic to our current reality toward trans women, maybe this live action could be something I watch.
