The production design was so brilliant in OPLA! I love his thought process about Morgan’s office reflecting his narcissistic, self-aggrandizing personality. It really was hilarious and enhanced even more of that wonderful, bright + romantically nautical world of One Piece. I also love the production crew’s efforts to add landscape paintings in Baratie of places Zeff had been to on his adventures - that feels so right for his character and just adds so much more lived-in charm to the Baratie!
I gotta admit, the live action is actually pretty good so far. I've finished episode two and I'm really enjoying how they've handled the adaptation so far. I came in to this with low expectations, but after seeing all two episodes, I gotta hand it to them, they really made a show adjacent to both fans and people who are just going in to the story blind.
It’s sad we don’t have as many actor interviews but these interviews with people behind the scenes are interesting too
As an interior designer and a weeb, the Ship designs and Kaya's mansion, Baratie were really elaborate and immersive ❤❤❤ I envy those set designers being part of this fantastic project.🎉🎉🎉...this season has been soooo good! Love it! Congrats to everybody involved and all paid off~
Was a dream working with you Richard Bridgland 😢.
The production team rocks, the world seems to lived in. Amazing
Oda doubling down on Electricity being a big aspect, is for sure something to be seen in the manga coming now.
Love the Live Action Soo far.. hoping for Season 2
Regarding Baratie, I can totally recognize their working method in the final work because it also explains my largest bugbear about that set: the still water. There are no waves on the overview shots, with the ocean being perfectly smooth. I hope that for future sets, they will take the effort of putting in some divers, or just some wave generating motors under the water, to make sure the water is disturbed and lightly chaotic at the least. I absolutely loved the Baratie, but that little detail broke the illusion just a little. In One Piece, there is only one place where the ocean is that calm, and that is the Calm belt. All other places, it will at least feel alive.
6:30 they are coming to the new world that's it, we will definitely have multiple seasons.
Gotta get to the grand line first
That fish boat was so good to look at looks like tourish attraction
yeah the manga eyes of the figurehead helped a bit, thank you for the change, haha. ^^ i had a feeling something was changed from when we first saw it... the first version i did not like, gotta be honest ^^;
but yes, it's a very charming show.
great interview, great work.
i like the mildly creepy snail phones btw lol.
I wish the show goes on to at least before the time skip 🙏🏻🙏🏻 praying for next season
This was an amazing interview
Thanks you🙏
Season 4 is cola power!
When reading it its always clear that there are two time periods merging.
Electricity is used for mundane stuff. Power comes from willpower an being in line with a theme. Cola Power later is the theme of a different character and he uses IT to be powerful.
6 EPISODES deep so far (opinons subject to change once I finish) really like the following: I enjoyed syrup village more in live action then the original, I thought the sanji Flashback was PERFECT, I love the wanted poster animation with the characters interacting with it, action is above expectation, Arlong is better than expected, and the Helmepo character is an absolutely amazing, it was smart for Mihawk to basically offscreen Don Krieg
Cons: Garp is a miss, he's not jolly or lovable, I feel they only wrote half of who he is. He is supposed to be an older scruffier , abrasive, rebellious, marine mirror of Luffy. I only get a sad bitter riggid one note old man, sorry, but everytime he's on screen it really sucks entire energy away from the show. (Actor is doing fine with what he has) Written really 1D so far the live action garp gets 4/10
The last episode I think that make Garp justice.
I have to agree. Most of my memories of Garp are him laughing uproariously. Yeah, we get marineford, but usually it's him chillin' with Sengoku, or something. I hope we see more of that in S2.
I did love most of it though, so hopeful for more!
Terrible take
Congrats for starting the jouney! Its long but it pays off along the way so much and so frequently that it is like 10 good stories and you get the strawhats as a family on top of that.
just finished the whole s1, now i want s2, hope to see Nico Robin and Chopper, idk how can they do Brook though and Franky as well coz the dude is wearing an underwear and has a weird build.
It’s a speedo, people wear them to swim in Europe a lot to go swimming. I’d be more concerned with Chopper live action than Franky. Big spooks if they don’t get the right design for Cho-bro
( choppers nickname later in the series )

Here after the CGI trailer of Avatar LA, vs Practical sets of OnePiece, he sure did a good job...but people saying CGI Avatar looks way better is off putting.
Wow! The Kaya's Mansion Background!
The more I hear, the less sad I am to not see Jacko moomwalk over the island 😂
Still a bit sad though
I love one piece, i hope they don't ruin the CGi of Chopper, i need season 2, I'm already excited, can't wait.
13:13 What is this electricity color power? is he mixin up haki with devil fruits?
Cola power. He's talking about Franky's Cola powered abilities
One of the things I disliked the most in this great show was the Going Marrys figurehead.
In the anime it is a very realistic looking wooden piece of art.
And in the life action show it looks like a prop made from foam. Kinda reverse going from a more realistic anime style to a less realistic life action piece.
i agree 100%. i hope they change it for season two.
I disagree, like the production designer said, Marry’s figurehead laughing represents Luffy optimistic personality and how being the optimistic leader he is, he inspires his crew to take the positive route and follow their dreams no matter the obstacles in their way. And since Going Marry is the physical representation of the happy/energetic spirit of the crew at the start of their journey, that when the time comes to say goodbye to Marry (and the emotional symbolism of that moment) will hurt a lot more. At least that’s how I see it.
MEppo and Coby will be gay couple, this is Netflix we are talking about.
I remember when many people said this live action will sucks cause it's netflix and most of them changed their mind. I say that I say nothing...
If that's the only thing you can think about then, I pity you.
@@NuttachaiTipprasert hold your butt, season 2 gay couple is coming.
Ok and?
